  • Devotees rush spikes at Tirumala, 31 compartments full

    The rush of devotees at Tirumala has increased, with 31 compartments being filled for tokenless Sarvadarshan on Sunday. The officials estimated that it would take approximately 20 hours to complete the darshans.

    On Saturday, a total of 82,999 devotees visited Tirumala and offered their prayers, while 38,875 devotees participated in the hair offering ceremony.

    The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) officials announced that the temple had received a donation of Rs. 4.27 crores through the hundi (donation box) on this occasion.

    On the other hand, the TTD on Saturday has released the Arjitha Kalyanotsavam seva tickets for Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple in Tallapaka to be held on July 4, 2023. Devotees can now book their tickets for this auspicious event.

  • High voltage political drama prevails in Palasa over clashes

    Srikakulam: High voltage political drama prevailed at Chinabadam in Palasa municipal town limits on Saturday midnight. According to details, TDP town president, B.Nagaraju is residing in his own house at Chinabadam and he is having way to his through a culvert on a canal.

    With an aim to create trouble to him YSRCP leaders targeted him and with alleged support of YSRCP local MLA and minister, S. AppalaRaju revenue and police officials rushed to there and made an attempt to destroy the culvert to seize way to his house.

    On learning about it TDP leaders rushed to spot and prevented the officials. TDP MP K Rammohan Naidu, Itchapuram TDP MLA, B Ashok and TDP former district president, G Sirisha rushed to spot and prevented the police and revenue officials excess action.

  • AP to receive heavy rains for next three days

    The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains are expected in several districts of Andhra Pradesh in the next three days.

    On Sunday, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vijayanagaram, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitaramaraj, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR, and Sri Sathyasai districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.

    Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has also warned of heavy rains on July 3 and July 4 in Kakinada, West Godavari, East Godavari, and Konaseema districts. On the same days, moderate rains are expected in Alluri Sitaramaraj, Palnadu, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, and Prakasam districts respectively.

    Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in Palnadu, Bapatla, and Nellore Prakasam districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall. Additionally, Alluri Sitaramaraj, Eluru, West Godavari, NTR, Guntur, Tirupati, Krishna, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR, Nandyal, and Sri Sathyasai districts on Tuesday.

  • Two dead after TATA Harrier vehicle hits bike in Visakhapatnam

    A tragic road accident took place in Visakhapatnam wherein a TATA Harrier vehicle hit a bike and a scooty at high speed on the Telugu Thalli flyover in the city leaving two dead.

    According to the details, a Tata Harrier vehicle traveling on the Telugu Thalli flyover collided with a bike and a scooty leaving the two to fall 30 feet from the flyover and die on the spot.

    The Law and Order DCP Vidya Sagar Naidu reached the spot and examined how the accident happened.

    90% households in Punjab getting free electricity: CM Mann

    Chandigarh (IANS). Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said 90 per cent households in the state were getting free electricity and congratulated the people on completion of one year of guaranteeing free electricity which has benefitted every section of the society.

    In a statement, he said the government had launched the guarantee of providing free electricity to the people on July 1 last year and since then 90 per cent of the households in the state were getting free electricity and their electricity bill was zero.

    Mann said that it is a matter of pride and satisfaction that along with the domestic consumers, the food producers of the country are also getting free and uninterrupted power in the state.

    He said that farmers are getting power supply for more than eight hours without any cut.

    Farmers are sharing videos regarding this and are thanking the government.

    Besides, the government has paid a subsidy of Rs 20,200 crore to PSPCL, Mann said.

    The Chief Minister said that this was not possible by taking loans like previous governments, but by curbing theft and corruption.

    He said that for the first time in the history, Punjab has coal reserves of 43 days. Earlier, there was a threat of blackout in the state.

    The Chief Minister said that the government is making efforts to make Punjab a power surplus state, now focusing on promoting green, solar and hydropower in the state. He also announced that the government is setting up a 206 MW hydroelectric project on the Ravi river in Pathankot.

  • Young medical student ends life in Nellore

    A young woman was allegedly committed suicide at a private medical college in Nellore on Sunday morning.

    According to the details, Chaitanya, belonging to Palasa of Srikakulam district is studying medicine at a medical college in Nellore and staying in a hostel. She got married two months ago and everything went smoothly, however, the young lady committed suicide in the college hostel on Sunday.

    Upon receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot and shifted the dead body to the hospital for postmortem. The police have inspected the spot.

    As part of the preliminary investigation, the police suspected that family problems could be the reason for the suicide. However, the exact reasons are yet to be known. The police registered a case and investigating it further.

    Loss of lakhs due to fire in Betul’s bakery

    Betul (IANS). A fire in a bakery in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district has caused a loss of more than one million rupees. The reason why the fire broke out is not known.

    Shahpur SDOP HL Sharma said that due to a fire on Sunday morning in the Dilbahar bakery shop located at Shahpur block headquarters on Betul Itarsi road, 35 km from the headquarters, the goods kept in the shop were burnt to ashes.

    The fire was informed by the owner of the shop, Sunil Gupta, to the police station and the city council. The city council’s tanker took about an hour to reach the shop which is 100 meters away from the city council, due to which the fire took a gigantic form.

    According to eyewitnesses, it was very difficult to control the fire as the engine could not be started after the fire brigade reached the spot, the battery was called to start the engine, which took about 30 minutes, until the bakery arrived. The entire stuff kept was burnt to ashes, people say that if the fire brigade had reached the spot in time, a lot of damage could have been avoided.

  • Visakhapatnam: Many take part in Giri Pradakshina

    Visakhapatnam: Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, Simhachalam Devasthanam Giri Pradakshina commenced at Tholipavancha (at the down hill) here on Sunday.

    City Police Commissioner CM Thrivikrama Varma, and Simhachalam temple Executive Officer V Trinadha Rao hoisted the flag and started the pushpa radham.

    After breaking a coconut, a large number of devotees participated in this ceremony before commencing their Giri Pradakshina, stretchinhg 32-km.

    Officials and staff of various departments perform their duties taking appropriate precautions to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees.

    Drinking water, buttermilk, and sheds for shade were arranged along the route for the devotees.

  • AP ECET Results 2023 announced, check jere

    AP ECET 2023 results were released by the Board of Higher Education. The candidates are advised to visit the official website cets.apsche.ap.gov.in. to retrieve the results.

    It is known that JNTU Kakinada conducted the ECET exam on June 20 across the state. More than 38,000 students appeared for this exam and the preliminary answer key for this exam was released on June 23.

    Students who have completed Polytechnic, B.Sc (Mathematics) can get admission based on ECET rank. It is known that the ECET exam was conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur.

    Drugs worth Rs 12 crore seized, three arrested

    Guwahati (IANS). Police in Assam’s Kamrup district arrested three drug peddlers and recovered drugs worth at least Rs 12 crore from them. Officials gave this information on Sunday.

    According to a senior police officer, Kamrup district police launched an operation on Saturday night based on specific information and recovered 700 grams of heroin from a vehicle.

    The police have arrested three people on charges of drug smuggling.

    The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Abdul Hai, Mohidul Islam and Rafiqul Islam.

    According to the police, these three people were driving a drug-laden vehicle from Guwahati to Dhubri.

    When the police squad stopped the car in Palashbari area of the district, they found 50 soap boxes inside, each containing 10 packets of heroin weighing 700 grams.

    The police officer said that the estimated market value of the seized drugs would be around Rs 12 crore.

    Further investigation of the matter is on.
