    Cyberabad Police Commissioner launched Handbook on NDPS Act

    Rangareddy: Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Stephen Ravindra, unveiled a comprehensive procedural handbook on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The event, attended by police officers and officials, emphasised the importance of the handbook in guiding officers investigating NDPS Act cases.

    Stephen Ravindra highlighted that the handbook provides crucial information on legal provisions, investigation methods, and specific procedures related to the NDPS Act. It aims to support investigating officers in dealing with the complexities of cases under the act. The rising consumption of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances poses serious concerns, as they have detrimental effects on individuals’ health and well-being. He emphasised the need for greater awareness of the NDPS Act and strict action against violators and drug users. Violations of the act can lead to severe punishments, including life imprisonment and death penalty. The handbook covers various aspects, including receiving information related to NDPS cases, handling seized items, reporting to senior officials, forwarding samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and filing charge sheets. He stressed the importance of proactive measures, thorough investigations, and accurate documentation to prevent future crimes.

    Retired SP, OSD Cyberabad M Malla Reddy, who contributed to writing the book, received appreciation for his efforts. ACP S. Ravinder from Cyberabad and A. Rangadham, Central Tax Superintendent, Hyderabad, were also felicitated by CP Stephen Ravindra.

    The book launch event witnessed the presence of esteemed officials, including Cyberabad Traffic Joint CP Narayana Naik, Cyberabad DCP Crimes KalmeshwarSinghanwar, Women and Children Safety Wing DCP Nikita Pant, Admin DCP Yogesh Gautham, Madhapur DCP Srinivas Shilpavalli, Balanagar DCP Sandeep, Shamshabad ACP Narayana Reddy, OSD Mallareddy, PSOC ACP Ravinder, ADCP, ACPs, and other officials.

    MEO inspected the school after complaints of irregularities

    Alur (Kurnool): Alur Mandal Education Officer (MEO) Komala Devi on Thursday inspected Sri Sai English Medium School, being maintained by the management of Sri Chaitanya English Medium School, following the surfacing of irregularities against the school on Thursday.

    According to information, the Sri Sai School is running classes from nursery to class VII. According to the sources, the school management is collecting hefty fees violating the government norms. Earlier, the leaders of student organisations staged several protests over the irregularities of school management.

    During inspection, the MEO Komala Devi inspected the school records. Later speaking to media persons, the MEO said that several irregularities have been noticed in the school and added those irregularities would be informed to the higher authorities for initiating further action. The parents of children informed the MEO that their children were experiencing stress after coming to home.

    The parents also said that the children were not allowed to go home even after school timings. They demanded the MEO to suspend the school registration and put in black list.

    DGP reviews security arrangements for Prime Minister’s visit

    Hyderabad: Extensive preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana State on July 8. In a video conference, the Director-General of Police (DGP) reviewed the arrangements and security issues with senior police officers, including the Warangal Police Commissioner. Additional DG Sanjay Kumar Jain, IG Shah Nawaz Kasim, and Sampreet Singh were also present.

    During the meeting, the DGP emphasised the need for coordination among the relevant departments of Revenue, Railways, Roads, and Buildings to ensure a seamless visit for the Prime Minister.

    The goal is to ensure a smooth and peaceful visit without inconveniencing the general public. Contingency plans should be in place in case of heavy rain on the day of the visit.

    Advance information should be provided to those attending the open meeting regarding the routes to reach the venue and parking facilities. Strong barricades should be set up at the open meeting venue and the helipad where the Prime Minister will land in Warangal. All arrangements should be made in accordance with the rules and regulations outlined in the Blue Book.

    Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi did surprise inspection of Rajendranagar ward office

    Hyderabad: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi conducted a surprise inspection of the Rajendranagar ward office set up at the National Institute of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj (NIRD) on Thursday.

    She inquired about the resolution of the complaints registered with the computer operator of the ward office.

    Vijayalakshmi directly called the complainants on the resolution of complaints and inquired about the ward services and the performance of the officers.

    The Mayor said that after making the ward system available to the people, the problems related to other departments and other circles can be solved apart from those related to GHMC. The administrative officer should work hard to coordinate with the concerned authorities of the ward on issues such as tree cutting, electricity supply, water works, mosquito control, dog pest control through UBD. According to the citizen charter, every problem can be solved in the ward office, but they should inform the officer against them.

    Speaking regarding the sanitation, she said garbage should be removed from time to time and moved to the transfer station.

    Later, she discussed the catch pits, drainage, street lights, sanitation and town planning with the concerned officials. Venkataiah, who has been working as a sanitation worker in Rajendranagar for 17 years without being absent, was honored by the mayor.

    Tirupati: The leaders of All India Save Education Committee (AISEC) submitted a representation to SV University Vice Chancellor Prof K Raja Reddy opposing the proposal to introduce 4-year degree course.

    AISEC state secretary S Govindarajulu said that the Central government has been implementing the National Education Policy 2020 which is against the interests of the people and as a part of it, introducing the four-year degree course as well.

    He mentioned that before doing so, the opinions of educationists, teaching faculty and other stakeholders should be obtained and take into consideration the pros and cons. The NEP is detrimental to the interests of stat governments. Universities having autonomy should initiate discussions with intellectuals on the 4-year degree course as it is a major step to take the very objective of education and curriculum backwards.

    Hyderabad: The Technical Education Department on Thursday revised the Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (TS POLYCET) 2023 final phase web counseling schedule in the view of SSC Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations results and additional seats permitted by the State government. According to TSCHE officials, the last date to register is on July 9, certificate verification on July 10 and exercising web options on July 8 to 11. Classes will begin from July 21 and allotment of seats will be before July 23.
