    SCR cancels, reschedules trains due to infrastructural maintenance works in Hyderabad division

    Hyderabad: Due to infrastructural maintenance works in the Hyderabad division, the South Central Railway (SCR) has either cancelled or rescheduled certain trains between July 31 and August 6.

    Accordingly, Kacheguda – Nizamabad (07596) and Nizamabad – Kacheguda (07593) trains have been cancelled. Likewise, the Kurnool city Secunderabad (17024) train running on August 1, has been rescheduled.

    SCR officials requested rail users to make note of the change in the time schedule and plan their travel accordingly.

    Hyderabad: After heavy rains and subsequent drop in mercury over the week, Hyderabad is now bracing itself for a surge in maximum temperatures in the next couple of days.

    The day temperatures are to go up, reach 30 degree Celsius, though the rising mercury is expected to be accompanied by intermittent clouds, offering some respite.

    According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise steadily, reaching the 30 degree Celsius mark, and possibly beyond. Despite the expected rise in temperatures, there is a silver lining in the form of anticipated rain spells as one or two showers are predicted to grace the city.

    Alongside the showers, the nights are anticipated to be relatively cooler, with minimum temperatures hovering between 22 degree Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.

    On Saturday, the weather remained pleasant in the city with intermittent showers. Rajiv Nagar Community Hall premises in Uppal received 4.3 mm rain followed by Moulali (3 mm), and Jeedimetla (2.3 mm).

    Hyderabad: As Hyderabad experienced heavy rains in the past few days, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had deployed its monsoon teams and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams to attend to rain-related complaints from different parts of the city.

    The teams were all over the city quickly moving in to the points of grievances such as water logging, tree falls and others, and clearing them. This ensured the denizens did not have to face problems, even during the heaviest downpour, like in earlier instances.

    The monsoon emergency teams cleared water stagnations at various locations including Circles 1 to 5 of LB Nagar zone, Sanathnagar, Ameerpet, Lakdikapool, and others. The DRF team also worked round-the-clock to clear nala overflows, fallen trees, rescuing people in areas like Malakpet, Koti, near Asian Mall, Nala Cheruvu, and Uppal.

    Amidst the city’s heavy rainfall, the team remained unwavering in its commitment to assisting citizens. The residents expressed deep appreciation for the team’s dedicated efforts, which prioritize their safety during these challenging weather conditions.

    “We saw the DRF team at many places in the city. They were actively helping out citizens to keep them safe while Hyderabad was on a red alert due to the Weather conditions,” said Avinash Tewari, a resident at Punjagutta.

    The Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) staff undergoes comprehensive training every quarter, focusing on rescue operations in firefighting, urban flooding, wall collapse scenarios, and others.

    During the heavy rains in the last week, residents frequently observed multiple DRF teams, donning their uniforms, actively engaged in pushing vehicles on waterlogged roads, draining water from cellars, and relocating people to safer areas.

    Cops arrest bike thief, 16 two-wheelers recovered

    Hyderabad: The Miyapur police arrested a bike offender who was stealing motorcycles in the city and recovered 16 bikes from him.

    The arrested man Shankari Dayakar (33), a resident of Sangareddy district was involved in 16 cases registered in Miyapur and Bhanoor police stations.

    DCP (Madhapur), G Sandeep said the man moved around and identified old bikes kept at public places including metro stations, and opened their locks using duplicate keys. He later drove it away and after finding buyers, sold the bikes at throw away price.

    “Dayakar preferred old bikes as the locks were worn out and without much difficulty he could open the lock using duplicate keys he always carried,” said the DCP.

    The Miyapur police caught him while he attempted to steal at bike at Miyapur metro station. On interrogation, he admitted to stealing the bikes and helped in recovering them. He was produced before the court and remanded.

On Saturday, the price of petrol has been recorded at Rs 103.11 per litre, while diesel cost is recorded at Rs 94.68 per litre. The prices of petrol and diesel in Cuttack increased today. Petrol has been priced at Rs 103.71 per litre and diesel has been recorded at Rs 95.25 per litre. The petrol prices of the major cities of India have been recorded at Rs. 96.72 per litre in Delhi, Rs. 106.03 per litre in Kolkata. While Mumbai and Chennai has recorded petrol rate at Rs. 106.31 per litre and Rs. 102.63 per litre. The diesel prices in the major cities of India have been recorded as follows: Rs. 89.62 per litre in Delhi, Rs. 92.76 per litre in Kolkata, Rs. 94.27 per litre in Mumbai, and Rs. 94.24 per litre in Chennai.

    The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the date’s for the next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be held from June 4 to 30, 2024.

    According to ESPNcricinfo, a total of twenty team will play in the T20 world cup across the 10 venues in the Caribbean and United States Of America (USA). The list of 10 venues that will host the T20 World Cup next year include Lauderhill in Florida, Morrisville, Dallas and New York.

    ICC along with Cricket West Indies and USA Cricket will likely take a final decision of the venues in the next couple of months as the venues in Dallas, Morrisville and New York have not got international status from ICC yet.

    Meanwhile, fans were currently eagerly waiting for the schedule of the 2023 T20 World Cup. This year world cup will be played by twenty teams including Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan and Bangladesh have qualified by finishing in the top eight of the T20I rankings. The remaining 12 teams will be decided by the virtue of the qualifiers.

    Not to forget, next year, the format of the World Cup will be different too.

    ICC aims to grow the sport in North America by hosting the game in USA and secondly it also wants cricket to be included in the Olympics Games of 2024 which is to be hosted by Los Angeles.

    New Delhi: Sakshi Dhoni, the wife of legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, revealed that the former Indian captain is in the process of recovery. MSD is undergoing rehabilitation for his knee injury. The injury had plagued Dhoni during the ndian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

    During a movie screening, a video of Sakshi providing insights into Dhoni’s condition surfaced on social media platforms. When questioned about her husband’s health, Sakshi confidently stated, “Mahi bhai is recovering; he is in rehab.”

    Kolkata: Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhdeb Bhattacharjee on Saturday was admitted to the ICCU of the city-based hospital after he complained of a severe respiratory problem. He is 79-years-old.

    Sources close to him said that the the leader’s oxygen saturation level dropped to a great extent following which his condition deteriorated and he had to be admitted to the hospital. His wife Meera Bhattacharjee accompanied him on his way to hospital. Their daughter Suchetana Bhattacharjee has also reached the hospital.

    Bhattacharjee had been a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patient for quite some time.

    Sources said that his health condition had been deteriorating for the last few days. However, that time he refused to adhere to the doctor’s advice to get admitted to the hospital.Since afternoon, his condition started deteriorating and the oxygen saturation level was dropping fast. So, the team of doctors attending on him decided to get him admitted to the hospital without further delay.

    In 2021, the former chief minister was infected with COVID-19 and was admitted to the same hospital.

    He became the chief minister succeeding the nonagenarian leader Jyoti Basu in November 2000 and continued to be in the chair till 2021, when Mamata Banerjee- led Trinamool Congress came to power ending the 34- year Left Front rule in the state

    As chief minister, Bhattacharjee was vocal on the need of massive industrialisation in the state. However, the land acquisition matters during his tenure backfired for his party and the Left Front.

    Bhubaneswar: The monsoon season continues to have its effect on Odisha, with continuous rainfall affecting the state. Adding to the weather, a cyclonic storm is likely to cause the formation of a low-pressure field. This combined effect is expected to intensify the rainfall in the region, particularly in Western Odisha and the coastal districts.

    Several districts in the state are likely to experience heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. Some areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather department has issued an orange warning for various districts from the 31st July and 1st August indicating a high level of caution required during this period.

    As we approach the 31st, the intensity of the rainfall is expected to increase further, with heavy to very heavy rain predicted in most parts of the state.

    An orange warning has been issued to several districts in view of very heavy rainfall on July 31 and August 1.

    Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued to 14 districts of the state for heavy rainfall today.

    Baripada recorded the highest rainfall of 28 mm yesterday and Keonjhar recorded a rainfall of 20 mm.

    Angul: In a distressing incident, the body of a missing minor, Sanjit Biswal, was discovered in Bareni forest, Tusar village, Kiakta Thana, after four days of his disappearance. The body was found mutilated, with no hands and legs, raising concerns of a possible sacrificial killing.

    Authorities are actively investigating the tragic incident to determine the motive behind the child’s death. The police have detained and are questioning three individuals, including a female worshiper of Mangala Temple, in connection with the case.

    The incident occurred in Bareni forest under Kiakata Police limits in Angul. The hanging body of the minor boy was found from the forest.

    The irate locals staged a road blockade and set a police van on fire, said reliable reports. The locals suspect that the minor had been offered as a human sacrifice.

    It is worth mentioning that the 14-year-old boy and his mother had made a wish and had vowed to spend the night at the Ma Mangala temple. The boy allegedly went missing in the morning.

    The mother searched for her son and then filed a complaint with the Kiakata police station limits in Angul. However on Friday, a few locals spotted the dismembered body of the boy hanging inside the temple and immediately informed the police.

    Today, a joint effort by the police and scientific team will further examine the circumstances surrounding the incident to unravel the truth.
