    Woman post master’s body recovered from Kolab dam in Koraput district

    Koraput: In a sad incident, the body of a woman Post Master was recovered from the Kolab dam in Koraput district of Odisha on Tuesday. The reason behind death of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The body was recovered from the Sindhu ghat in the Lamtaput Block.

    The deceased lady has been identified as Priyanka Praharaj. She was the Post Master of Tikarpada Panchayat.

    As per reports, the woman left her mobile phone with her mother in the house and told her that she will be going outside to return soon. As she did not return home for long her mother searched for her with the help of the villagers.

    During the search it was seen that the footwear of the woman post master was lying near the Kolab dam. Accordingly, it was suspected that she might have drowned in the water of the dam.

    As the villagers searched for the woman in the water they got her dead body. They fished out the body from the water and informed Police.

    After getting information Nandapur Police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

    From the preliminary investigation Police have doubted that the woman might have committed suicide. Further investigation of the case is underway.

    Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a youth was killed after being stuck by lightning in Bhadrak district of Odisha on Tuesday. The incident took place in the Hatapada village under Arandua Panchayat in Basudevpur Block of the district.

    The deceased has been identified 35 year old Maheshwar Jena, the son of Makara Jena.

    As per reports, today afternoon when Maheswar was in the village it started to rain with thunderstorm and lightning. As it started to pour he was returning home when he was struck by lightning and fell on the ground.

    After some time, a few villagers reached there and took him to the Basudevpur hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

    A pal of gloom has descended in the village following the death of the youth.

Official sources said that these inspections were conducted in 20 states and union territories in the last 15 days.
    Notice issued to 26 companies
    An official source said action has been taken against 76 companies as part of the first phase of the special drive against manufacturing of substandard drugs. “Licenses of 18 pharma companies have been canceled for manufacturing spurious and adulterated drugs… Besides, show-cause notices have been issued to 26 companies,” he said.

    According to sources, 203 companies have been identified by the regulators under the special drive and most of the companies are in Himachal Pradesh (70), Uttarakhand (45) and Madhya Pradesh (23). Recently, questions have been raised about the quality of medicines manufactured by Indian companies. In February, Tamil Nadu-based Global Pharma Healthcare recalled all of its eye drops in the US for allegedly affecting eyesight. Prior to that, the deaths of children in Gambia and Uzbekistan last year were linked to cough syrup made in India. The Modi government has clamped down on pharma companies making fake and substandard medicines. The government has canceled the licenses of 18 pharma companies in the country. This action has been taken by the government after allegations of making fake medicines. Recently, 76 companies from 20 states were inspected by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). After which this action of canceling the license has been taken by the government.
