NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope captures changing seasons on Jupiter, Uranus

NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, one of the most powerful telescopes built by the scientific communities, has recorded the changing weather on Jupiter and Uranus in awe-inspiring new images. The telescope, designed to keep an eye on the outer planets of the solar system has also been constantly monitoring the seasonal change and atmospheric switch across the two giant planets by giving a close-up look.

“Hubble’s sharpness and sensitivity keep an unblinking eye on a kaleidoscope of complex activities over time,” explains NASA.

Launched in 2014, Hubble observes the celestial bodies from other spacecraft such as Juno, a Lockheed Martin-built NASA space probe orbiting the planet Jupiter. Hubble also recorded stunning observations for NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency’s Cassini mission to study the planet Saturn. It was also used during the Voyager 1 and 2 probe that took advantage of a rare planetary alignment and studied the outer solar system with all four giant planets in line between 1979 and 1989. Hubble telescope’s Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) Program has been key in observing different seasons and atmospheres on other planets.

Jupiter & Uranus atmosphere and weather from Hubble
Hubble has been able to observe that Jupiter’s weather is mostly stormy at low northern latitudes. The planet shows a “prominent string of alternating storms” that are visible, forming a “vortex street” in astronomers’ language, according to NASA’s statement.

“There’s a pattern of anticyclones and cyclones in the images of the Hubble on Jupiter. These two are locked together in a way of a “machine with alternating gears moving clockwise and counterclockwise,” said NASA.

Sometimes, the storms come in the vicinity of each other and merge into a wilder and even larger storm, “potentially rivalling the current size of the Great Red Spot.” Jupiter’s orange-coloured moon Io was first captured on January 6, 2023, is seen shining among the planet’s multicoloured clouds. “Sulfur takes on various hues at different temperatures, which is why Io’s surface is so colourful,” scientists and astronomers explain.

“Hubble’s resolution is so sharp that it can see Io’s mottled-orange appearance, related to its numerous active volcanoes. These volcanoes were first discovered when the Voyager 1 spacecraft flew by in 1979,” NASA wrote.

Bombay High Court reprimands Rakhi Sawant, asks her to remove obscene video

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has pulled up model-actor Rakhi Sawant and asked the Mumbai Police to take necessary steps to remove the obscene video made public by the actor of a fellow actor in a press conference.
Justice Anuja Prabhudesai questioned Sawant’s counsel as to why the actor did this. He said, ‘Why are you indulging in things like showing such videos? Why should this be done for another woman? Certain ethical standards have to be maintained,” said Justice Prabhudesai.

HC directs Mumbai Police to delete video
The judge has also asked the Mumbai Police to inform by March 28 whether such videos are available on any website. Also, they will also have to inform about the steps to be taken to remove these videos.
The High Court is hearing the anticipatory bail plea filed by Sawant after it was rejected by the sessions court. An FIR was registered against Sawant last October after he called a press conference and allegedly showed a pornographic video of a fellow actor and made defamatory statements.

Seeking relief, her lawyer said that section 67A imposed on the actress is non-bailable. This section deals with the offense of broadcasting obscene video.
Justice Prabhudesai questioned whether section 67A would be applicable as the actor denied airing any obscene video. According to the FIR, Sawant showed the video to media persons. Also, the punishment for a conviction for this is only five years.

Also, the FIR does not say that the media aired all this. Also, the FIR states that the video is already available online.
The victim’s lawyer said that the video shown by Sawant was a private video which is not available online. He defamed the victim and showed the video, which is now going viral.
The court then asked the police to check whether the video had been deleted. If it is displayed then it should be removed.
The High Court has fixed the date of March 28 for the hearing of the case.

  • Rahul Gandhi disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha

Rahul Gandhi disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha

Rahul Gandhi, the former leader of the Congress party, has suffered a severe loss as a result of his exclusion from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a criminal defamation case in 2019. Additionally, the Lok Sabha Secretariat declared his district vacant. A special election for the position may now be declared by the Election Commission.

The Wayanad MP has been questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged relationship with billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, whose business empire has come under critical examination following allegations of stock manipulation and fraud, and has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the matter. The Congress has termed it a “conspiracy” to silence the MP.

Senior Congressman Manish Tewari responded to the notification by calling the choice incorrect. He stated that the Lok Sabha secretariat cannot remove an MP from office. The Electoral Commission must be consulted before the President makes a decision.
Many congressmen are publicly expressing their worry about him. Another prominent Congressman, Shashi Tharoor, stated that it is bad news for democracy. Within 24 hours of the court’s ruling and while it was known that an appeal was being considered, he commented that he was astounded by this action and by how quickly it came about. He said that this was “politics with out gloves” and that it was bad for democracy.
According to Mallikarjun Kharge, president of the Congress, his party is looking for answers about who stole the money from the public, while the BJP is attempting to divert attention from the real problem.
Alomg with this, this morning, Congress units protested simultaneously throughout multiple states, accusing the Center of having a personal grudge. DK Shivakumar, the state president of the Congress, as well as other party officials and supporters were held by Karnataka police as they were protesting the Surat court’s decision to convict Mr. Gandhi.
Meanwhile, all these started when Rahul Gandhi was yesterday given a two-year prison sentence in the case brought by BJP MLA Purnesh Modi for his claimed comment, “How come all thieves have Modi as the common surname?” In order to give him time to file an appeal with a higher court, the judge also granted him bail and deferred the punishment for 30 days. Furthermore, now Rahul Gandhi can appeal the ruling in court. Congress leaders have questioned the move’s legitimacy, arguing that only the President has the authority to dismiss MPs after consulting the Election Commission.
