Srinagar court rejects bail application of fake PMO official

Srinagar, (IANS) | A court here on Thursday rejected the bail application of Kiran Bhai Patel, who had presented himself as a senior official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) before his arrest by the police on March 2. Srinagar Chief Judicial Magistrate Raza Muhammad Tasleem said in his order on Thursday, “The bail application is baseless.”

He said, “I am of the considered opinion that the submissions made by the public prosecutor are reasonable and compelling, carry great weight..and I disagree with the submission made by the counsel for the applicant (Patel) that if at this stage the If the discretion of bail is exercised in favor, it will certainly destroy the fabric of the investigation.”

“Consequently, in my opinion, the instant application is devoid of any merit and is, therefore, dismissed.”

The thug was arrested on March 4 from a 5-star hotel in Srinagar. Before being caught, he was claiming to be the Additional Director in the PMO.

Kiran Bhai Patel is currently in judicial custody.

RGCB develops crop protection process without chemicals, pesticides

Thiruvananthapuram (IANS) | A team of researchers from Kerala has come up with a process to protect crops by boosting their immune system in a natural way without using dangerous chemicals and pesticides. Here at the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology (RGCB), S. The team led by Manjula has conducted studies on pepper plants and found it to be very beneficial for crop protection and better yield of pepper.

Manjula said that the new protection process has proved effective in protecting pepper plants from ‘foot-rot’ disease and there is strong evidence for this.

He explained that Glycol Chitosan (GC) is a water-soluble, non-toxic repolymer, which is known to protect the plant. It was used to protect the leaves of pepper plants from insects.

“Diseases and pests pose a serious threat to the sustainable production of commercial black pepper. It was observed that GC treatment is very effective in protecting plants from ‘foot-rot’ disease,” Manjula said.

“Increasing the efficiency of the plant’s immune system will reduce the need to rely on volatile insecticides,” Manjula said.

The findings of the study have recently been published in the journal ‘Frontiers in Plant Science’.

RGCB director Chandrabhas Narayan said that this is an important research not only for pepper plants but also to fulfill the purpose of plantation.

“It is sustainable and inherently ecological, as a better alternative to high-risk pesticides and synthetic chemicals,” Narayan said.

MBA pass woman who gave shelter to Mritpal arrested from Haryana

Chandigarh, (IANS) | The Haryana Police arrested a 28-year-old unemployed woman, an MBA degree holder, and handed her over to the Punjab Police for allegedly sheltering fugitive radical Amritpal Singh and his accomplice Pappal Preet Singh at her house in Shahabad town of Kurukshetra district. Accused Baljeet Kaur lives with her brother and father. Her brother works in the SDM office, while her father runs a milk business.

Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria told the media that unemployed Baljit Kaur Pappal was in touch with Preet Singh. It is suspected that Pappal Preet and Amritpal stayed at his house on Sunday night. After some questioning, the Punjab Police was informed and the woman was handed over to them for further investigation.

Amritpal Singh, against whom the National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked and a non-bailable warrant has been issued, is absconding despite a massive manhunt to nab him since March 18. • KCR dashed hopes of job seekers in Telangana: Sharmila

KCR dashed hopes of job seekers in Telangana: Sharmila

Hyderabad, (IANS) | Telangana Party (YSRTP) president YS Sharmila on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has crushed the dreams and careers of unemployed youth in the state. Sharmila said that the issue of paper leak in Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam is a small sample. He alleged that the “incompetent and autocratic” government failed to create a single job during its second term, while it claimed to have created just 65,000 jobs in its first term.

The chief minister had promised to fill 80,000 vacancies through a notification, and it was tabled in the assembly on March 9 last year. A year has passed but the notification is limited to 26,000 jobs. After the paper leak case, his fate also hangs in balance. In short, over 10 lakh candidates have been backstabbed and it is impossible to fill the vacant posts now that the election notification is due to come into effect just six months from now.

Overall, the Chief Minister has destroyed the hopes and careers of over 50 lakh job seekers in Telangana. In 2015, he promised to create 1 lakh jobs, but four years later the figure stood at just 65,000. After the creation of new districts, the workforce requirement was pegged at 3 lakhs, but nothing has moved in a positive direction apart from cosmetic treatments, where administrative buildings were constructed and inaugurated with much fanfare.

Referring to the questioning of KCR’s daughter Kavita by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi Excise Policy case, Sharmila said- everyone fails to understand why KCR is not as committed towards unemployed children of many helpless parents , as she is committed to her child, for which she has shifted the entire cabinet and official machinery to New Delhi.

He demanded the BRS government to wake up at least now and initiate immediate action by issuing a notification to fill up 1.91 lakh vacancies as per the recommendations of the Biswal Committee. Not only this, the recruitment process should also be expedited on priority basis. We also demand the state government to order a CBI inquiry into the TSPSC paper leak case. No one should be spared, including ministers and legislators, if found guilty. YSRTP, on its part, will continue to fight relentlessly on this issue and will also stand with the unemployed youth of Telangana.

  • JEE Advanced 2023: Delhi High Court to hear plea for exemption for students next month

JEE Advanced 2023: Delhi High Court to hear plea for exemption for students next month

New Delhi (IANS) | The Central Government on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that it has replied to the notice on a petition seeking exemption for students appearing for JEE Advanced 2023. A bench of Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav, hearing a petition filed by 67 students, said the Centre’s reply was not on record and directed it to do so. He has also given a week’s time to the petitioners to file a reply.

Also directed that the reply be placed on record and listed the matter for further hearing on April 16. The court had on March 7 issued notice to the Center and other respondents and sought their reply within two weeks.

The applicants have urged that it be made possible for them to re-appear in the engineering entrance exam as both the JEE Main 2022 sessions held in June and July last year were plagued by technical issues. These errors prevented the candidates from performing well in the examination, leading to a significant reduction in the score and percentile of many candidates.

Last year, there were several technical issues with the JEE exam, including frequent computer crashes, screen freezing for several minutes, loading time taken too long, incomplete questions and more.

Some students claimed that they were unable to take the exam as their centers were changed suddenly without any notice. Some of the candidates faced mistakes in their results as well as differences in their response sheets.

Students had faced similar technical issues during JEE Advanced 2022. This was their last attempt for many students who faced technical difficulties.

This was the last JEE Main exam for students graduating from class 12 in 2020, and the last JEE Advanced attempt for students graduating from class 12 in 2021.
