    Action against those who feed online betting in the city, 5 arrested

    Raigarh. After taking action on illegal liquor, on the direction of SSP Sadanand Kumar, joint team of Kotwali, Chakradharnagar and Cyber Cell, running a campaign on online betting in the district, conducted betting raids at many places of the city on informer’s information. In which Manoj Aggarwal was arrested at Kevdabadi bus stand of Kotwali area and accused- Mohammad Mazhar, Pradeep Patel, Pintu Halwai, Azhar Mohammad at Marine Drive Bailadula of Thana Chakradharnagar area. On questioning the accused and checking their mobiles, the name of the person who provided the online satta app link was also mentioned in both the FIRs of Chakradhar Nagar police station. Action has been taken against the arrested 05 accused under the non-bailable new section 6, 7 of the Chhattisgarh Gambling (Prohibition) Act 2022 of the Gambling Act. On the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, cyber cell and police station teams are specially investigating the bank account and WhatsApp chatting details of the accused. Soon evidence will be collected in relation to other accused and action will be taken to arrest them also.

    Last evening, action on online betting was directed by cyber cell and police station in-charge to inform their informers regarding betting, on which between the Tamil Nadu Premier League cricket match by loading the online cricket betting apps of some people at Kevadabadi and Marine Drive in the city. On every ball and run, people were informed about making betting notes on mobile by making bets of rupees, on which raid action has been taken and 05 accused have been arrested from different places. According to the interrogation of the accused and the available evidence, the name of the other accused has been added to the crime and the mobiles of the accused have been seized.

    (2) Accused- Mohammad Mazhar father Mohammad Zahoor age 32 years, Dhimrapur Bhatia Gali Police Station City Kotwali District Raigarh

    (3) Accused-Pradeep Patel father late Ghurau Ram Patel age 30 years near Bhawanipur School Chandmari Police Station City Kotwali District Raigarh

    (4) Accused- Pintu confectioner father late Kanhaiya Lal Confectioner age 40 years, Raigarh near Chandmari Circuit House

    (5) Accused-Azhar Mohammad father Hussain Mohammad age 26 years with Indira Nagar Police Station City Kotwali Raigarh

    5 arrested for cheating of Rs 2.20 lakh

    Five cybercriminals, who had created a fake online shopping website and a call centre to cheat gullible people, have been arrested by the cybercrime cell of the UT police for duping a city resident of Rs 2.2 lakh.

    Puran Singh, a resident of the city, had reported that he had receive a call on his mobile phone from an unknown number. The caller informed him that he could shop any product from “homeshop10.com” at cheap rates and redeem prizes.

    The complainant ordered an iron for Rs 670 on the website. He received a call. The caller, who introduced himself as Sahil Raja, told the complainant that he had won an iPhone.

    The caller made the complainant deposit Rs 5,990 (fee) to generate a bill and later, Rs 8,990 for the phone’s insurance. The caller also made him deposit Rs 21,582 as GST charges.

    The police said the complainant was duped of a total of Rs 2.2 lakh. The police registered a case at the cybercrime police station.

    During investigation, a team, led by Inspector Ranjit Singh, conducted raids in Faridabad and Delhi NCR. Suspects Naveen (20), Puneet Singh (24), Suraj (23) and Akash (24) were arrested. They had provided SIM cards and bank accounts to transfer the money.

    During interrogation, the suspects revealed that Gopal Shah (27) was the kingpin of the racket and he also owned the fake website. The police conducted a raid in the Tughalakabad area of Delhi and nabbed Gopal.

    The police said a debit card, three mobile phones and 200 SIM cards had been recovered from the suspects.
