Ever since AAP came to MCD, most people have paid taxes voluntarily: Kejriwal

New Delhi (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that during the BJP’s rule in the MCD, Delhiites hesitated to pay taxes due to concerns of possible rigging. However, ever since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in the MCD, more people have started paying taxes voluntarily.

The Mayor of Delhi Dr. Shaili Oberoi announced that the MCD has collected a higher amount of tax as compared to previous years. In the first quarter of 2023-24, the MCD collected Rs 1,113 crore in property tax, which is significantly higher than previous years.

According to Oberoi, the number of taxpayers this year is 7.17 lakh. He attributed this growth to the confidence instilled in the MCD by the Kejriwal governance model, which has encouraged more people to pay taxes.

Shelly Oberoi expressed confidence that the money given by the tax payers will be used honestly for the development of the people.

At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal reiterated this sentiment and said that people now trust the AAP government and are paying taxes voluntarily. During the BJP rule, people were skeptical about the security of their tax payments.

However, under the present administration, which he considers honest, he is confident that every penny paid will be allocated for the welfare and development of the people.

Complaint on Kharge, Kejriwal for ‘inciteful’ remarks on President Murmu

A complaint has been filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and others for allegedly making “inciteful statements” citing the caste of President Droupadi Murmu regarding the event of the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

The complaint has been filed by Vineet Jindal, a Supreme Court advocate. “The statement has been with the intent to promote enmity among communities/groups and trying to create distrust for the Government of India to fulfil their political motives which are an office under sections 121, 153(A), 505 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” the complainant has alleged.

It stated that the alleged statements given by Kharge and Kejriwal have been made intentionally, to refer to the “caste” of the esteemed President of India with the objective of portraying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the present Government have “deliberately not invited” the President for the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

These statements are widely published and circulated in news and social media and would result in provoking the ST and Adivasi community as our honourable President to belongs to Adivasi and ST community, the complaint further stated.

It added that such statements made by influential political leaders on the ground of caste and against the duly elected government to promote enmity among communities/groups are highly condemnable.

AAP vs Centre: Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann meet KCR in Hyderabad

AAP supremo and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann met with BRS chief and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday.

Telangana transport minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, MLA Jeevan Reddy, and MLC Sheri Subash Reddy welcomed them at the airport.

The meeting gains significance due to the Delhi chief minister’s attempt to galvanise support from key political leaders across the country against the Ordinance passed by the Centre designating the Delhi Lt Governor as the administrator who will have the final say on the postings and transfer of all bureaucrats serving the Delhi government.

The Supreme Court had recently passed an order giving the Delhi government the power to make laws and post or transfer bureaucrats.

In a unanimous ruling, a five-judge Constitution bench of the apex court on May 11 stated that the Delhi government had legislative and executive powers over administrative services in the national capital.

On May 25, Kejriwal along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had called on Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar in Mumbai to enlist his support. The AAP leaders also had a separate meeting with Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray.

Kejriwal was earlier in Kolkata to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She assured him that when the Narendra Modi government presents the bill in Parliament, Trinamool Congress will oppose it.

Kejriwal to meet leaders of opposition parties to garner support against Centre’s ordinance

New Delhi (IANS) | Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said he would tour the entire country against the ordinance brought in to take away services in the national capital from the control of the state government. Kejriwal tweeted and said, from today I am going across the country for the rights of the people of Delhi. The Supreme Court passed the order after years and did justice to the people of Delhi, giving them their rights. But the central government took away all those rights by bringing an ordinance. When this law comes to the Rajya Sabha, it should not be allowed to be passed under any circumstances. Will meet presidents of all political parties and seek their support.

After meeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday, Kejriwal had said that he would meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

On Monday, the Congress also said that it has not taken any decision on the issue of the ordinance brought against the Supreme Court verdict and said it will consult its state units and other like-minded parties.

The Central Government has brought an ordinance to set up a permanent authority to be known as the National Capital Civil Services Authority which will be headed by the Chief Secretary of Delhi along with the Chief Minister of Delhi. This authority will recommend to Delhi LG in transfer posting and other relevant matters. However, the decision of LG will be final.

  • Arvind Kejriwal’s Residence Renovated In Violation Of Master Plan 2021: BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi

Arvind Kejriwal’s Residence Renovated In Violation Of Master Plan 2021: BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi

Union minister and BJP MP from New Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi on Wednesday alleged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence here was renovated in violation of the Master Plan 2021, and many trees were removed for the exercise. No immediate reaction was available from the Kejriwal government or the ruling Aam Aadmi Party over the allegations.

Lekhi, who on Wednesday joined the Delhi BJP’s indefinite dharna near Kejriwal’s 6, Flagstaff Road residence, alleged there was a “scam” in the renovation of the CM’s accommodation which cost Rs 45 crore. The Delhi BJP launched the dharna near Kejriwal’s official residence in Civil Lines on Monday. The party has also alleged a “scam” in the exercise carried over 2020-22.

A new 500-yard bungalow can be built with around Rs 4-5 crore while Kejriwal spent Rs 45 crore just on the renovation of his residence at a time when the COVID pandemic raged, said the minister. “The same Kejriwal who before coming to power used to say he will not enjoy government accommodation and vehicles has now arranged 7-star facilities for himself as the chief minister,” the minister of state for external affairs & culture said.

No tender was floated for the renovation work to keep it under the wraps, she alleged. “It was not done as a single tender of 45 crore but was fragmented into five parts so that the approval of the PWD secretary could be bypassed. Renovation of chief minister’s residence was done violating the Delhi Master Plan-2021,” Lekhi alleged.

“Its Lutyens’ Delhi like area and you cannot add even a brick to any structure without permission. The renovation was carried out in violation of Master Plan 2021. No permission was taken from Delhi Urban Arts Commission either,” she alleged. Further, Lekhi charged trees removed for the renovation work were not replaced and many old ones that were translocated did not survive.

“Fewer than 10 tress were removed at a time to avoid the need to seek permission from higher authorities and keep it under the wraps. A liability of 260 trees was fixed for the trees removed. They had to plant 260 trees near Metcalf House but only 83 were planted and 167 are yet to be planted.

“Eleven bigger banyan trees aged hundreds of years perished and only one survived due to wrong method of translocation,” she alleged. Kejriwal should open the gates of his residence for the people of Delhi so that they can see for themselves what lies there, or the law will finally catch up and he will be held accountable for his actions, she added.

The AAP has been responding aggressively to the BJP charges, citing expenses on the residences of the prime minister and the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. The party has been alleging the BJP was making it an issue to divert attention from the pressing issues faced by the country under the Modi government.

Kejriwal has lost his mental balance – Sudhanshu Trivedi

New Delhi (IANS)| The political tussle and rhetoric between Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree continues.

Accusing Kejriwal of faking the degree issue to hide his corruption, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi has said that Kejriwal has lost his mental balance and has gone completely insane. Don’t know what they are saying in reverse. Coming to the inferiority of the language and getting reprimanded from the court. Trivedi said that the kind of language, language style and body language used by Kejriwal is of the lowest level.

Talking to the media at the BJP national headquarters, the party’s national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the comments made by the CBI court yesterday while rejecting the bail plea of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia are now coming out with facts. That not only Manish Sisodia but other people of Aam Aadmi Party were also responsible for influencing liquor policy through corruption. That’s why they created a farce to hide the matter of corruption and raised the matter of Prime Minister Modi’s degree whereas in reality this matter is not of Prime Minister’s degree but of Arvind Kejriwal’s corruption. He has once again been reprimanded by the court (High Court) in Gujarat regarding this issue. Even before this, he has been scolded by the court many times on many subjects, has apologized. He said that going to the court to seek the fact which is in the public domain, which is on the university’s website, is a waste of court’s time and a misuse of constitutional rules.

Accusing Kejriwal of going back on his words and his oath, the BJP spokesperson sarcastically said that Kejriwal is certainly educated but does not write on any file, but gets others to write so that that person gets trapped. He further said that the opposition parties are crossing all limits of insult and contempt of democracy and judicial system in India.
