    Srinivas appears before Assam Police in Ankita Dutta case

    Guwahati (IANS) | Indian Youth Congress (IYC) President Srinivas B.V. Former Youth Congress leader Ankita Dutta appeared before the Assam Police here on Monday in connection with the harassment complaint lodged by her. On reaching Guwahati, Srinivas first went to the Dispur police station where Dutta had filed a complaint against him on April 19.

    From there he went to the CID branch office at Ulubari where he is being interrogated.

    The Supreme Court had last week granted interim anticipatory bail to Srinivas.

    Section 144 was imposed in Guwahati ahead of the Youth Congress president’s visit, which prohibited the assembly of more than five people within municipal limits.

    The Guwahati Police Commissioner’s Office issued the directive in an attempt to handle the chaos caused by the crowd and possible disturbance by Congress workers.

    Any picketing or rally gathering is now against the law, and the police are taking action to stop them. This directive has been implemented for three police districts of the city.

    Datta claimed in his complaint that Srinivas had been continuously harassing and harassing him for the last six months by making sexual remarks, using abusive language and threatening him of dire consequences if he complained against him to senior party functionaries.

    She further said that the accused harassed her, grabbed her arm, pushed her, used abusive words, and in the most recent incident threatened to harm her career if she reported about him during the party’s plenary meeting in Raipur. Gave.

    The police had registered an FIR under various sections of the IT Act and IPC related to harassment of women.

    The Criminal Investigation Department of the Assam Police went to Srinivas’ residence in Bengaluru and served a notice to appear in person in Guwahati.

    Guwahati (IANS) | Terming the death of Assam Police sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha as ‘mysterious’, the family has demanded a high-level probe.

    The accident took place in Kaliabor area of Nagaon district.

    According to locals, Rabha’s vehicle collided with a container truck on the national highway.

    The vehicle was completely damaged due to the collision.

    As soon as the news was received, the police reached the spot and admitted Rabha to Kaliabor Civil Hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead.

    According to police sources, he was wearing plain clothes.

    Meanwhile, Karuna Rabha, brother of the deceased policeman, said: My sister left home in Guwahati last night and told us she would go with her colleague Abha Rabha, but later we learned she was going alone. Abha claimed that she was not going with Junmoni.

    Junmoni Rabha came into limelight last year when she broke off her engagement with her fiancee, who was accused of corruption.

    Later, he was also accused of corruption, criminal conspiracy, cheating and was arrested.

    He was granted bail by the sessions court.

    Guwahati (IANS) | Assam Police has launched its official YouTube channel with an aim to act as an interface to facilitate closer collaboration between the people and the security personnel. Officials have given this information on Monday.
    ‘The Assam Police Channel’ was launched on Sunday at a function held at the Assam Police Headquarters in Ulubari, Guwahati.
    Director General of Police G.P. Singh launched the channel in the presence of several senior officials and their families.
    Speaking on the occasion, Singh stressed that the Assam Police aims to strengthen its bond with the citizens of the state and work towards a safer and more secure society.
    He reiterated that Assam Police already has its popular social media handles on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and with the launch of YouTube channel this gap will be further reduced.
    The DGP further said that various cultural initiatives launched by the Assam Police along with the YouTube channel and the launch of the folk orchestra would help in promoting community bonding and people would understand the functioning of the police force in a better way.

    Assam witnessed one of the largest passing out parades of unarmed branch constables of Assam Police on Thursday, April 6. A total of 1,715 new recruits took the oath and participated in the passing out parade at the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Assam’s Deragaon on Thursday. A total of 535 women constables, too, passed out of the academy.

    With this newly inducted manpower, Assam Police is gradually filling the vacancies in the department.

    Assam CM appeals to new constables
    Addressing the passing out parade, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the new jawans to ensure they always stand to deliver justice to the poor and needy and not neglect them. “Police should never use the baton against the poor and the deprived section,” the Chief Minister said.

    Recounting the achievements of the Assam Police, particularly in the war against drugs and maintaining law and order situation, the Chief Minister hailed the force for being able to improve and maintain the peace and security scenario, as a result of which AFSPA has been withdrawn from most parts of the state.

    The Chief Minister also said that very soon, Assam Police will become the only police force in the state with full strength and zero vacancies as the state government will recruit another 6,000 new personnel in various ranks of the police force.

    Speaking to Republic Media Network, Assam Director General of Police GP Singh said that when he took over earlier in 2023, it was his dream to see the full strength of the Assam Police, and that now that it is gradually becoming a reality, he is very happy. He also added that with the consistent effort of the government, the Assam Police will soon be a police force with zero vacancies.

    In the next couple of months, another huge batch of approximately 6500 jawans will pass out of the Police Training Centre, colleges, and academies in the state.
