    Nandi Drama Awards will be given in 5 categories

    Vijayawada: Nandi Nataka awards will be given for best actors in five categories, according to AP Film TV and Theatre development Corporation Chairman Posani Krishna Murali.

    Speaking to mediapersons at the secretariat on Tuesday, the Film Development Corporation chairman said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, to encourage artistes, the Nandi awards will be given fiin five wings including mytholigical, social, children, youth and for social plays. APFTTDC MD T Vijay Kumar Reddy said 73 Nandi awards will be given in five wings. He said a notification will be issued soon and eligible artistes can apply online. The Nandi awardees will be selected after conducting final competition, for which the date will be finalised soon.

    HMWSSB gets award for best performance in sewage treatment

    Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has been honored with an esteemed award for its exemplary performance in sewage treatment and its commendable efforts in the rapid construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) to achieve 100 percent sewage treatment. The award was presented by the Pollution Control Board as part of the decade celebrations commemorating the establishment of Telangana State.

    During the ceremony, Director Sridhar Babu had the privilege of presenting the award and certificate of appreciation to Danakishore MD, HMWSSB, in recognition of the board’s outstanding contributions and dedication to maintaining a high standard of sewage treatment in the region. This accolade serves as a testament to the board’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable wastewater management in Hyderabad.

    Singareni Thermal Plant got award

    Kothagudem: Singareni Thermal Power Station at Jaipur in Mancherial district has bagged a coveted award at the national level in the southern states category for its environmentally beneficial efforts.

    Mission Energy Foundation (MEF) presented it a prize for the most economical use of water in thermal power plants in New Delhi. MEF representative S Dalvi handed over the prize to AGM K S N Prasad.

    In general, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) allows thermal power plants with capacities greater than 500 mw to consume up to 3 cubic metres of water for 1 mw power generation. However, the water use at Singareni plant is limited to 2.69 cubic metres by adopting best practices in the field. It came on the top in the southern states category, while NTPC got the best award at national level. This is the second consecutive year that Singareni plant achieved this distinction.

    Installation of a high concentrated slurry disposal system, reuse of water via an effluent treatment plant, and regular monitoring of water usage at Singareni Thermal Power Station have resulted in effective water savings, according to its officcials.
