    Balangir: Missing woman killed by husband; 3 detained

    Balangir: In a tragic incident, a woman who went missing since June 16  was allegedly killed her husband in Odisha’s Balangir district. It is alleged that women’s husband killed her following a family dispute. The incident has come to the fore from Khaprakhol area under Patnagarh block of the district.

    The deceased was identified as Chulabati of Chingiritala village. The prime accused has been identified as Debaraj Sahu of Putulamahula village under Khaprakhole police limits in Bolangir district, and his two accomplices are his elder brother Tikelal and uncle Gunanidhi of the same village.

    According to reports, Debaraj had married Chulabati six years ago. On June 16, they had a quarrel over some family issues. The scene turned ugly when Debaraj lost his cool and started thrashing her mercilessly till she collapsed on the ground.

    According to sources, the family of the woman couldn’t get any whereabouts of her, they filed a missing complaint and alleged that the deceased’s husband has killed her.

    Based on the complaint, the cops initiated investigation. After initial probe, four including her husband, brother-in-law and aunty were detained by the Patnagarh police.

    The probe is underway. Further detailed report related to the case are awaited.

    Road mishap in Balangir; 5 including 2 minors killed

    Balangir: In a tragic incident, five persons including two minors were killed and two others were critically injured after the car they were traveling in collided with a truck in Odisha’s Balangir district. The accident occurred on National Highway No. 26 near the Chuinbandha area of the district.

    The deceased were identified as Atmaj, Ipsita, Srinika Simantini, Diptiranjan, and Riya of Balangir. While the injured were identified as Rashmita and Aarti Naik.

    According to sources, the seven were returning to Balangir after attending a marriage party in Aagalpur block. On their way to home, the car they were traveling in collided with the truck parked at the roadside. The locals rescued them and immediately rushed all of them to the hospital. However, the doctor declared five of them brought dead. The other two injured are in critical condition.

    On being informed, police reached the hospital and started to probe into the matter.

    Bhubaneswar (IANS) | Five people of a family, including two children, died in a tragic road accident in Odisha’s Balangir district. The police gave this information on Wednesday. According to the police, the accident happened on Sambalpur-Balangir National Highway-26 near Chuinbancha crossing late on Tuesday night. Five people died on the spot, while two are seriously injured. He has been admitted to Burla Medical College.

    Atmaj Nayak of Ramjipada in Balangir was returning home in a car along with six other members of his family after attending a marriage function in Agalpur area of the district.

    On the way, his car went out of control and rammed into a truck parked on the roadside.

    The deceased have been identified as Atmaj Nayak (25), his sister Ipsita Sai (27), his daughter Riya (6), Atmaj’s uncle Diptiranjan Sai (35) and Sai’s daughter Anvi (6).

    After getting the information, the Balangir police reached the accident spot and took the dead bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem.

    Nayak’s mother Aarti (47) and Diptiranjan Sai’s wife Rasmita (29) were seriously injured in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at Vimsar in Burla.

    Elderly woman dies after being hit by motorcycle in Balangir

    Balangir: In a tragic incident, an eldery woman died after being hit by a motorcycle in Odisha’s Balangir district. The incident has come to the fore from Dhamandanga village under Kantabanji police limits of the district.

    The deceased has been identified as Lalita Putel, a resident of Dhamandanga village.

    According to the information given by her family, Lalita was returning home after bathing at morning 6 am when a motorbike hit her. Lalita was severely injured. Bones of her hand and leg broke and she also got injured in her chest.

    Her family immediately rushed to the hospital. However, the doctor declared her brought dead.

    Meanwhile, the identity of the rider of the motorbike is yet to be ascertained. After hitting Lalita, the bike rider fled from the spot.

    On being informed, Kantabanji police reached the spot and started to probe into the matter. The cops have also initiated manhunt.

    More details are awaited.

    Youth murdered, another critical in brutal attack in Balangir, investigation underway

    Balangir: An youth was allegedly murdered and another critical after they were attacked by some unknown miscreants on Tuesday night near Nrusingh temple in Brahman pada in Odisha’s Balangir district.

    The deceased has been identified as Saroj Panigrahi and the injured one is Prem Sahu.  As per sources, both of them were friends and were drinking tea near the temple after watching melody when some unknown youths started attacking them with sharp weapons. Saroj lost his life on the spot after receiving critical injuries on his head and heart. While a critically injured Prem has been rushed to the Bhimabhoi Medical College hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

    However, the actual motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

    On being informed, the Balangir Town police has reached the spot and is investigating the case.

    Odisha Royal family dispute: Dehradun police registers case against five people

    Balangir: The Dehradun police has registered a case against five people on the basis of a complaint by Balangir Royal family’s daughter-in-law Adrija Manjari pertaining to allegations of domestic violence, dowry harassment and an attempt to murder against her in-laws.

    A case has also been filed against Adrija Manjari’s husband Arkesh Narayan Singhdeo. According to Adrija’s complaint, her husband and some employees were torturing and beating her. Adrija filed a complaint at the Dehradun police station and met the police and asked for protection.

    Dehradun SSP Dilip Singh Kunwar has said that the case will be investigated by CO Rajpur.

    Adrija Manjari is the granddaughter of former PM Vishwanath Pratap Singh. Whereas, Arkesh is the younger son of Anang Uday Singhdeo. She got married into the royal family’s prince Arkesh Narayan Singhdeo in 2017.

    In 2019, Arkesh was the BJ MLA candidate of Balangir assembly constituency. At this time, Adrija was campaigning with her husband. Their marital world was visibly happy and joyous. Now there is a family dispute.

    Man’s Chopped Body Parts Packed In Polythene Bags Found In Odisha’s Balangir

    Balangir: Decomposed body parts of a man were found inside a house under mysterious conditions at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.

    The chopped body parts were recovered at Salepali village in the district after locals informed the police about a foul smell emanating from the house, sources said. The deceased has been identified as Rinku Meher.

    The decomposed body parts, chopped and packed in seven polythene bags, were recovered by breaking open the door of the house in the presence of a Magistrate.

    While it appeared to be a case of planned murder, the motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, according to Balangir Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Tophan Bag. Investigation is underway and a scientific team will examine the spot.

    It is suspected that the murderer might have packed the body parts in polythene bags with a plan to dispose it of, but was unable to do so due to some reason, he said.

    College Girl Found Hanging In Odisha’s Balangir

    Balangir: The body of a college girl was found hanging from a tree near a village in Patnagarh area of Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.

    Sources said locals found the girl hanging from a tree with a scarf near Gangasagar village on Patnagarh-Kantabanji main road and informed the police.

    She was identified as Ranju Dandasena, a student of Jawaharlal (Degree) College in Patnagarh. A bag and mobile phone were found lying at the spot. A scooter was also found near the site.

    A team of police personnel rushed to the spot on getting information and seized the bag and a mobile phone reportedly belonging to the deceased. A scientific team was also sent to examine the spot.

    Police launched an investigation to ascertain whether the girl had committed suicide or someone murdered her and hung the body.

    As per preliminary reports, the girl belonged to Dumerpadar village in the area and she was staying in a hostel while pursuing studies at Patnagarh.

    Family members of the girl alleged that she was murdered saying her feet were found touching the ground. Somebody has killed and hung her body, alleged girl’s mother Pankajini Dandasena.

    Police said prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide, but a clear picture will be available after getting the postmortem report.

    Balangir: An album singer from Western Odisha, was found dead inside her uncle’s house in Balangir district, but passed her vision to the needy. The family members of the deceased donated her eyes at Bhima Bhoi Medical College,Balangir.

    According to reports, Ruchismita was found hanging inside a house at Sudapada in Balangir. She is a native of Sonepur district. However, she has been living in Talpali area of the Balangir Town along with her family members.

    Ruchismita, who also has acted in some album songs, had recently visited her maternal uncle’s house in Balangir. However, she was found dead inside the house.

    On being informed by the family members, Balangir Town Police reached the spot and seized the body. They sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. However, the autopsy could not be done awing to darkness.

    Police are questioning the family members to get some clues regarding her mysterious death. Effort by the cops is on to ascertain the exact reason that prompted her to take the drastic step.

    Meanwhile, people suspect that there was some family dispute over her alleged affair with a youth.

    2,240 more cough syrup bottles seized in Balangir

    Balangir: A few days after police busted a gang allegedly involved in illegal cough syrup trade in Odisha’s Balangir  district, two more arrested in this connection on Friday.

    On a tip-off that huge amount of cough syrup bottles was being illegally transported from Cuttack to Balangir, a team from Balangir Town police station conducted checking of vehicles at Bijakhaman on Balangir-Titlagarh road. During checking of a private bus coming from Cuttack, the team found the cough syrup bottles.

    The police sources said total 2,240 cough syrup bottles were recovered from the bus while those were transported in 7 paper packets. The police have arrested three persons in this connection.

    The arrested persons have been identified as Biswanath Mulia of Mangalabag in Cuttack, Maheswar Mohanty of Badachana in Jajpur and Laldhar Putel of Kalahandi. The police also seized 4 mobile phones and Rs 5,440 from their possession.

    It may be noted that the police had busted a gang involved in illegal cough syrup trade and seized Eskuf Syrup bottles worth around Rs 40 lakh in Balangir on March 13. As many as 37 members of the gang, most of whom belonging to Bargarh, Cuttack and Balangir districts and Uttar Pradesh, were also arrested.

    Besides syrup bottles, one country-made pistol, 17 mobile phones, one Mahindra XUV Vehicle, two Mahindra Pick UP, one Tata ACE Vehicle, two motorcycles and Rs 7,500 in cash, gold jewellery and other articles were seized from them.
