At such a time, even today a family of Kosagondi, a small village in Balod district, is in discussion about the unique service of mother cow. Farmer Pannuram Sahu and his wife Lalita Sahu, residents of village Kosagondi, located about 12 km from Gurur block headquarters, are devotees of Gaumata.

Bed and clothes have also been arranged for mother cow in the room. He has 7 cows and 17 calves in his house i.e. total 24. He would take care of all the cows and calves like a family. They have also given different names to all of them and these cows are called by name and they also understand.

    It was told that Pannu Sahu had brought a cow from his in-laws house and since then the husband and wife started serving this mother cow. With the passage of time, now the number of cattle in his house has increased to 24. Pannu Sahu’s son Evat Kumar Sahu and daughter-in-law Omeshwari Sahu also take care of the cow, that is, the whole family serves the cow. This family has 80 decimals of land, in which they cultivate paddy. Along with this, there is a tractor in the house, in which he goes to work in other places. However, in today’s era, it is very rare to see such love and nurturing of cattle in this way.
