    Holy Chaturveda Havanam begins

    Tirupati: The week-long Chaturveda Havanam, offering oblations amidst chanting of Veda mantras into consecrated fire, began amidst religious fervour at Parade Grounds, behind TTD Administrative Buildings here on Thursday.

    As part of Havanam, the ritwiks performed Kalasa Sthapana and Kalasa Avahana followed by Yajamani Sankalpa, Ganapati Puja and Agni Pratista rituals. TTD executive officer along with his spouse and JEO Sada Bhargavi observed Sankalpam.

    In all, 32 ritwiks who were involved in the sacred ceremony rendered the chanting of mantras from Vedas, while offering oblations in the Homa kundam, echoing the sprawling complex.

    Later, speaking to the media, the EO said the seven-day sacred Havanam is being organised by TTD for the first time in the temple city for the well-being of the society and global harmony.

    The week-long programme will conclude on July 5, he said, adding that daily the ritwiks will chant shlokas from all four Vedas till 1 pm and later a series of devotional programs like discourses, bhakti sangeet will be held till night.

    Programme coordinator Aacharya C Sriram Sharma said on the guidelines given by Kanchi pontiff all mantras from four Vedas will be recited daily to invoke blessings of all the deities.

    HDPP secretary Dr Srinivasulu, special officer of SVIHVS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Higher Vedic Studies) Dr A Vibhishan Sharma were also present.

    Mahasamprokshanam ritual begins at Govindaraja Swamy Temple

    Tirupati: In connection with the completion of Vimana Gopuram Gold Malam works, the Maha Samprokshanam rituals commenced at Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple on Sunday on a grand religious note in Tirupati.

    In the morning, Viswaksena Aradhana, Panchagavya Aradhana, Vastu Homam, Raksha Bandhanam and Kala Sthapana were performed. In the night, Kalakarshana will be observed. These rituals will conclude on May 25.

    Both the Senior and Junior Pontiffs of Tirumala, Pradhana Archaka Sri Srinivasa Deekshitulu, Deputy EO Shanti and AEO Ravi Kumar were present.

    Visakhapatnam : Dr Samir V Kamat, secretary DDR&D and chairman, DRDO exhorted the engineers to adapt to the fast changing technologies and build in more intelligence into the health monitoring systems of machines and structures.

    Inaugurating a two-day national conference on Condition Monitoring (NCCM 2023) started by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in association with the Condition Monitoring Society of India (CMSI) here on Thursday, he opined that condition monitoring is not for luxury but a necessity. Eminent scholars and practitioners to bring out a roadmap for evolving conference monitoring according to the recent technological advancements, he mentioned.

    Aimed at bringing together practitioners and experts of condition monitoring and spreading the message of effectively implementing condition monitoring practices in the industry for enhanced productivity and increased availability, the event includes expert talks, presentation of close to 30 papers.

    Dr Tarapada Pyne, chief knowledge officer and director, Centre for Reliability and Diagnostics, Mumbai, Dr Rajiv Tiwari, Professor, IIT-Guwahati, Dr. Edwin Vijay Kumar, Professor, G V P College of Engineering, Dr Rana Dutta, consultant, CBM & TPM, Ganti Subba Rao, Cat IV-Vibration Analyst and Dr Kamalkishore Uke, Sr Principal Scientist, CMERI, Durgapur to share insights into various themes during the two-day-long conference that deliberated on various themes.

    They include ‘vibration based diagnostics’, ‘wear debris analysis’, ‘AI/ ML in condition monitoring’ and ‘sensors and signal processing for condition monitoring’. The conference is being attended by participants from industries, academic institutes and R&D establishments across the country.

    MZ Siddique, Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) who participated as distinguished guest emphasised the need to reap benefits of Industry 4.0 for effective maintenance of equipment.

    Director of NSTL Y Sreenivas Rao emphasised the need for effective maintenance of systems in defence as well as civil sectors. He mentioned that NSTL has been a pioneer in this domain since the 1990s and contributed significantly towards spreading the awareness of this field in the entire nation.

    Speaking on this occasion, Rear Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, Admiral Superintendent; Naval Dockyard (V) brought out that the Indian Navy adopted condition monitoring of shipboard assets for a long time and lauded NSTL for its stellar role in achieving this.

    Former director general (Naval Systems & Materials) Dr V Bhujanga Rao delivered keynote talk on ‘Condition Monitoring in the Industry 4.0 Environment’ and brought out the role of ‘smart factory’ in improving the operational effectiveness of plants. He gave the details of genesis of CMSI and how NSTL and Indian Navy became indispensable part of CMSI.

    P V S Ganesh Kumar, president of Condition Monitoring Society of India explained the conference objectives and expressed hope that the deliberations in the conference would lead to fruitful suggestions for improved maintenance approaches.

    Three-day annual comedy theater festival begins

    Play “Bade Miyan Deewaane” by Rangbaaz Production, Mumbai, opened Hasyam, three-day annual Comedy Theatre Festival 2023, at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18 here today.

    The play, based on renowned Pakistani Urdu writer Shaukat Thanvi’s novel “Budhbhas”, is written by Imran Rasheed and Pawan Uttam. Rasheed, who is also the director of the play, was ecstatic on his visit as the city figures in his favourites, having performed here before for plays with his guru Nadira Babbar.

    Rangbaaz debuted with this play in 2010 and the audience gave it immense love. “We have been doing this play for all these years, it’s a ticketed.”

    A fine actor, Rasheed was seen in various series, including “Mismatched”.

    “The director in me takes a backseat when acting. With each new project and association with each new director hones one’s craft,” says Rasheed, who is also part of Netflix upcoming series “Vakalatnama”.

    On the second day i.e. on April 26, “Udhar Ka Pati” will be staged by Veena Pani Kala Mandir, Jaipur, which has been directed by Tapan Bhatt. On the concluding day i.e. on April 27, “My Wife’s 8th Vachan” will be staged by The Films and Theatre Society, Mumbai. It and has been directed by Atul Satya Koushik.

    The festival is being organised by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration, and Tagore Theatre Society, Chandigarh.

    The plays are being staged at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, here, and the entry is free.

    Salakatla Vasanthotsavams, which will be held for three days on the occasion of Chaitrasuddha Pournami has begun in Tirumala Temple. As part of it, Kalyanotsavam and Oonjalseva will be held for deity till the 5th of this month. Meanwhile, TTD has canceled Kalyanotsavam, Oonjalseva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, and Sahasradipalankara services from April 3rd to 5th in honor of Vasantotsavam.

    As part of the festivities, on the first day of Monday at 7 am, Sridevi along with Sri Malayappa Swamy was taken in a procession in the temple’s streets and will return to the temple after abishekam. Later, Swapna Thirumanjanam will be held grandly for the deity from 2 to 4 PM and the deity will be anointed with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric, and sandalwood. From 4 to 6.30 pm, a grand Asthanam will be held in the Srivari temple.

    On the last day on April 5, Sridevi and Bhudevi together with Sri Malayappaswamy Sri Sitaramalakshmana Anjaneyaswamy Utsavlar, and Sri Rukmini along with Sri Krishnaswamy Utsavamurti will be worshipped in Vasantotsava celebrations. The name ‘Vasanthotsava’ was coined for this festival held in the spring season for Sri Malayappa Swamy. Officials revealed that the main process of Vasanthotsavam is to offer aromatic flowers to the deity.

    5-day music program Annamayya Vardhani begins

    TirumalaL: The five-day 520th Tallapaka Annamacharya death anniversary celebrations began on a devotional note at the picturesque Narayanagiri gardens in Tirumala on Saturday. The processional deity of Lord Malayappa and his consorts Sri Devi and Bhudevi were brought in a procession to the accompaniment of traditional Nada Swaram and also Bhajans by various troupes from Tirumala temple to the Gardens where the celebrations were held. Artists dressed as Lord Venkateswara and his consorts, Lord Narasimha and also Annamayya led the procession giving a devotional touch.

    The hour-long inaugural programme began with Sapthagiri Sankirtana Goshti Ganam by traditional vocalists to the accompaniment music, praising Lord and also paying tribute to saint poet Annamayya, who wrote 32,000 Kirtanas, the devotional songs mostly in praise of Lord Venkateswara and many with a strong social message of equality of all in the society.
