    Man found hanging in Bhadrak Market Complex

    Bhadrak: The dead body of a man was found hanging in the Tarini Market complex near Banth Chakk of Odisha’s Bhadrak. The man was found hanging to the shutter of a shop in the market complex area.

    After receiving information about the incident, Bhadrak town police reach the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

    The incident is assumed to be happened late last night after the market complex was closed. On Friday morning, the locals found the man hanging and immediately informed the town police about it.

    On the other hand, it is also suspected that the man has not hanged himself, but rather he was murdered and later tied to a shutter with the help of a rope. The reason for death is also yet to be known.

    The cops have initiated a probe into the matter and further investigation is underway.

    Bhadrak: The Income Tax department has conducted raids on Dhamra region’s senior Congress leader and industrialist Digambara Das’s properties.

    According to reports, the raids were conducted by the Income Tax department on Thursday. The Income Tax Department has conducted raid on Congress leader in Odisha and searched four places simultaneously including his residence, Dhamra Ice Factory, office, and residence in Bhadrak since morning.

    According to the information, the Income Tax department is conducting a raid on congress leader in Odisha including Digambara Das’ family house and office in Dhamara and checking the papers.

    While this raid is underway on the allegation of income tax evasion, four teams are involved in the raid operation. However, earlier in the same way, the Income Tax department raided the house of a Congress leader in Dhamra area.

    Earlier today, the Income Tax (IT) department had conducted raids on a former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA)’s house on Thursday.

    The IT raid has been conducted on the house of an ex-MLA of Champua in Keonjhar district of Odisha. He has been identified as Jitu Patnaik. His houses and offices have been raided by the IT department.

    The Income Tax raids on the houses and offices are underway at the time of filing this report.

    The Income Tax Department is raiding the residences near the Joda Sai Temple and the mining office at Baniyakala Street.

    It has been reported that the Income Tax Department is investigating the allegations of tax evasion.

    1 dead, 4 injured after scorpio rams into truck in Bhadrak

    Bhadrak: One person was killed and 4 others sustained critical injuries after their car rammed into a stationary truck near Chatabar at National Highway 16 in Bhadrak district today morning.

    Initial investigation suggests that the truck was in stationary mode, when the ill-fated scorpio car enroute Bhubaneswar rammed into the truck from behind on NH-16.

    Following which one person was killed on the spot and four others sustained critical injuries. The injured were immediately rescued and admitted to Bhandari Pokhari Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical aid.

    The identity of the deceased and injured has not been ascertained yet.

    Earlier today, six people sustained critical injuries after a collision between two trucks near Trisulpur chhak under Bhadrak rural police limits.

    According to sources, a truck carrying chicks was heading from Bhubaneswar towards Kolkata lost control after the driver got sleepy for a moment and collided with another truck standing in another lane after crossing the divider. At least six people who were in the truck were critically injured due to the accident.

    The police has reached the spot and rushed the injured people to the nearby hospital in Bhadrak. All the severe injured people were reportedly residents of West Bengal.

    Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here today issued an orange warning for rain accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning over 11 districts of Odisha.

    Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hailstorms very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh till tomorrow morning, informed the weatherman.

    Meanwhile, the people of the above-mentioned districts have been advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Harvesting of Rabi crops may be regulated judicially.

    Likewise, yellow warning for thunderstorms with lighting and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Nuapada till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

    Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

    Keonjhar: In a recent development to the border dispute in Keonjhar – Bhadrak area, section 144 has been imposed by the district administration. This has been done to prevent any further law and order situation that may arise.

    A major turmoil has taken place between two villages relating to the extent of their border in Keonjhar district of Odisha. A clash broke out at Orali on Bhadrak road in Anandpur block of Keonjhar, over a border dispute between two villages.

    More than ten people were injured and one shop, two cars and a bike were set on fire. A dispute has arisen between Orali and Apanda of Bhadrak district regarding the Orali intersection of Anandpur-Bhadrak road in Keonjhar district.

    Many years ago this street was named Orali Street. The people of Apanda village have been demanding to name it as Apanda Street. Due to which tension prevailed in the area, said reliable reports.

    Some people of Orali village protested against the installation of information boards that read Apanda road. A fight broke out between them and they threw stones at each other. Banta police reached the spot and monitored the situation.

    Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, two boys, who are good friends, drowned in a newly dug pond in the Bhadrak district of Odisha on Saturday. The incident took place in Saanpur village in the Dakhinabada area under the Dhamnagar Police Station limit.

    The two deceased boys have been identified as Mukesh Giri and Kamala Lochana Barik. Mukesh had appeared in the Matric examination while Kamala was studying in plus two Class.

    As per reports, the two friends had gone to the newly dug pond on the roadside of Chilapadi to take bath when they slipped into deep water.

    After getting information from the villagers the fire services personnel rushed to the pond and fished out the two boys. They were then rushed to Dhamnagar Hospital. However, at the hospital, the doctors declared them dead.

    A pal of gloom has descended in the village following the death of the two boys.

    4 Children Become Critically Ill After Consuming Pesticide In Odisha’s Bhadrak

     Four children became critically ill after consuming pesticide in a farm field in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday.

    According to sources, the incident occurred while the four children in the age group of one and a half years to 3 years were playing in a farmland in Jhinkiria village under Tihidi block of the district in the morning. They came across a pesticide bottle lying there and all of them drank from the bottle.

    After some time, some villagers found them lying unconscious in the field and informed their parents. Two of the children are brother and sister.

    The villagers rushed the unconscious children to government hospital at Tihidi. Later, they were shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Bhadrak.

    The doctors of the DHH said the children were still unconscious and under observation. If their condition does not improve, they would be referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack, they added.

    Three students who went to bathe in the river drowned in Odisha’s Bhadrak

    Bhubaneswar (IANS) | Three students drowned in Naliya river in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday, while two others were rescued. According to the local people, five class 11 students of Charampa College had gone to the river to take a bath when the tragic incident took place. Local fire brigade reached the spot and rescued all the five students and took them to Bhadrak Hospital. Where the doctors declared three students brought dead and two other students were discharged after first aid.

    A doctor at Bhadrak Hospital, P.K. Khara said that we found three of the five students dead in the hospital. His post-mortem will be done and after that the exact cause will be ascertained.

    Local MLA Sanjeeb Kumar Mallick said that a very sad incident happened today, in which we lost our three small children. Aid has been provided to the dead by the Red Cross. I would urge the government to sanction Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to the family members of each of the deceased.

    Woman SI arrested for ‘sexually assaulting’ female journalist in Bhadrak

    Bhadrak: A lady sub-inspector was arrested on Sunday for allegedly sexually harassing a woman journalist in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

    Bhadrak City DSP Ansuman Dwivedi told the media persons that the female journalist of a web channel had filed a complaint regarding sexual harassment by the SI Bhadrak Town police station on Saturday.

    The victim alleged that the accused, Tapaswini Mohapatra, sub-inspector of Chudamani Marine police station in the district, had sexually exploited her on promise of marriage.

    After the registering a case, the police launched an investigation. They also carried out medical examination of the accused and the victim.

    “We have arrested the female SI and produced her in a local court. She has been put under suspension,” said Dwivedi.
