    5T Secy VK Pandian visits Puri Srimandira, takes stock of Srimandira Heritage Corridor project work

    Puri: Odisha CM’s 5T secretary VK Pandian visited Srimandira of Puri in Odisha on Saturday along with his wife and took stock of the progress of the Srimandira Heritage Corridor project work. He also discussed with the senior officials of the district administration and the officers of Tata.

    As per reports, the 5T Secretary visited the famous Lord Jagannath temple of Puri with his wife. The couple also visited the temples of Goddess Laxmi and Goddess Bimala and other ‘parswa devas/devis’ in the Srimandira premises.

    Following the darshan, Pandian took stock of the Srimandira Heritage Corridor project work that is going on around the temple. He also talked to the officials of the district administration.

    The famous Devasnana Purnima is falling on coming June 4. Hence, by this date, the outer road of the Heritage project will be completed, the officials said. It will benefit the locals as well as devotees to move easily.

    During this visit, Ayush Mohapatra, a reverse painter from Puri presented a photograph of the 5T secretary to him that has been drawn through reverse painting.

    Bhubaneswar: Raids conducted at Night Clubs, Bars, Hotels in Infocity and Chandrasekharpur area

    Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police conducted raids at different night clubs, bars and hotels of Infocity and Chandrasekharpur area yesterday night to check if there is any violation of the Excise rules.

    As per reports, two special Police teams along with three platoons of Force and officers of the CTS Force and Team 60 conducted the raids.

    It was checked whether these commercial centres were operating beyond the permitted time, whether any type of violation of the sound permission is there or not. In nutshell, the checking was to verify whether these bars and hotels are abiding the Excise rules or not.

    The above Enforcement activities were conducted under Safe City Drive Bhubaneswar.

    Reportedly, Commissionerate Police will send notice to the bars and hotels of Chandrasekharpur and Infocity area that were found violating the Excise rules. Also, the Excise department will be asked to issue notice in this connection to the said bars and hotels.

    Such type of raids will also be conducted in the coming days, informed Bhubaneswar DCP.

    Property worth lakhs gutted in fire at hotel in Kandhamal dist

    Baliguda: Property worth lakhs gutted due to a fire mishap that took place at a hotel in Kandhamal district of Odisha on Saturday night. The fire accident took place at the Kuna hotel near Hanuman temple in K Nuagan.

    As per reports, the fire broke out in the hotel late in the night when it was closed. After getting information the owner of the hotel and the locals tried to douse the flames.

    Meanwhile the Baliguda Fire Services Department was alerted. The fire service personnel reached the spot and doused the flames.

    The reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.

    Property worth lakhs including a refrigerator and furniture gutted in the fire accident.

    Earlier this week, at least seven shops gutted due to a fire accident in Hatpada area of Bargarh district in Odisha. On the night of May 26 first a fire broke out at a shop in the daily market area. Soon, it spread to other shops at about 10 pm in the night.

    While the exact reason behind the fire was not known, it was suspected that a short circuit might have caused the fire.

    Bhubaneswar: In heart wrenching incident, a doctor couple planned to celebrate their three months wedding anniversary with much joy and happiness. Everything was ready for their celebration. But, sadly the husband died in a road accident in Bhubaneswar hours before the celebration.

    The deceased has been identified as Manoj Kumar. He died in a road accident at Fire Station Square of the State Capital City.

    According to reports, Manoj had married to Doctor Sushri Sangita, the daughter of Kabiraj Behera, on March 28 as per the Vedic rituals in a grand way. The couple and their family members were extremely happy for their wedding.

    The doctor couple also had made all arrangements to celebrate their three months wedding anniversary. However, Manoj met with an accident. He was rushed to the Hospital for treatment. But, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

    Manoj’s untimely and unfortunate death just three months after his wedding has left the family members devastated.

    Mutilated body of youth found near railway track in Odisha’s Balangir dist

    Balangir: In a tragic incident, the mutilated body of a youth was found near the railway track in Balangir district of Odisha. The incident took place in Kantabanji of the district.

    The deceased has been identified as Nityananda Sagaria of Jhupudi Pada in Kantabanji.

    As per reports, Nityananda had gone to out of State to work as a migrant labourer. He returned home a few days back. Yesterday night he went from the home and did not return. Hence, his family members searched for him but in vain. And today morning his mutilated body was found near the railway track near Trolley pada.

    After getting information Kantabanji GRP and RPF officers reached the spot today morning and seized the body. Further investigation of the case is underway.

    While the exact reason of his death is yet to be ascertained, from preliminary investigation it has been known that he might have committed suicide due to family disturbance.

    Bomb planted for poaching explodes in mouth of cow in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

    Dhenkanal: In an unfortunate incident, a crude bomb, which had been planted for poaching of wild boars in the forest exploded inside the mouth of a cow. The incident took place in the Katumunda forest area under Mahavirroad Forest Range in Dhenkanal district of Odisha on Sunday.

    As per reports, the cattle of Labani Behera of Katumunda had gone to the forest for grazing grass. The said crude bomb had been planted to trap wild boars which one of the cows swallowed thinking it to be some kind of eatable item. Accordingly, the animal sustained critical injury.

    After getting information Prabhanjan Behera, the Forest Guard of Ghagaramunda Forest Beat reached the spot and informed the vet about the incident. The cow has received treatment in this regard. However, it has sustained critical injury inside it’s mouth cavity.

    5T secretary visits Maa Samalei temple development project

    Sambalpur: Directed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian visited the Maa Samaleswari Temple project popularly known as SAMALEI-  Maa Samaleswari Temple Area Management and Local Economic Initiative today.

    The project is being developed in an area of about 30 acres and about 25 acres has already been acquired for the project. The work of the project is in progress.

    Shri Pandian today started his visit by offering prayers at the temple of Maa Samleswari.

    He interacted with the large gathering of pilgrims and then visited the entire site where construction of the heritage pond complex, podium, Queue Management System, Cloak Room and other associated components are going on. He directed the engineers to speed up the work so that it should be completed in time.

    After viewing the plaza area with the heritage welcome gates under construction on three sides, he examined the heritage corridor under construction. The 5T secy asked the officers to project local heritage in an attractive manner.

    He also inspected the vending zone, information counter, Pilgrim facility and Temple facility center and an iconic watch tower which are under fast progress.

    Pandian stressed on adequate shade by plantations. He also asked to expedite procurement of all finishing items.

    Moving on to the river front area, Pandian instructed the finalisation of design for an iconic foot over bridge and to expedite progress of pitching and the river front column foundation works.

    The 5T secretary also visited the crematorium construction site  and instructed to design the colours with lighter themes. He also interacted with the local people and took feedback from them on various developmental issues.

    It is to be noted that the Samalei project is being executed under the 5T initiative.

    Principal secretary works, Sambalpur Collector, MD OBCC and other senior officers, president of the temple trust board were present during the visit.

    Khordha: In an unfortunate incident, a group of miscreants killed a youth and left his elder brother critically injured in Khordha district of Odisha on Sunday. The incident took place in the Sanakumari village under Bolgarh block of Khordha district.

    The deceased youth has been identified as Bipin Rout and his elder brother, who sustained critical injury is Bikram Rout.

    As per reports, at about 10 am in the morning Bikram was attacked with sharp weapons by a group of miscreant near the Goddess Mangala temple of Sanakumari village.

    Following the attack, Bikram’s younger brother Bipin was also attacked. While he tried to run from the spot to save himself the miscreants chased him in broad daylight in the busy roads of the village and caught him near the bridge of Sunakhala road. There the miscreants repeatedly attacked him with sharp weapons and as a result he was killed on the spot.

    The family members and locals rescued the elder brother Bikram and sent him to the hospital. His condition is critical.

    The miscreants fled from the scene after committing the crime.

    It has been suspected that past enmity is the probable reason behind the lethal attack. The deceased, injured as well as the accused miscreants are from Sanakumari village.

    After getting information Bolgarh Police reached the spot and initiated investigation. Further investigation of the case is underway while the culprits are yet to be nabbed.

    Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm along with rain and gusty wind lashed the capital city, Bhubaneswar while the whole city was in deep sleep on late Friday night. Under the influence of the Kalbaisakhi, heavy rain along with thunderstorms hit the city, which affected some slum areas houses.

    According to sources, the water accumulated in some down areas due to the heavy rain, which caused inconvenience to the area people. The heavy rain was accompanied by heavy lightning and thunder, which woke up the town people from their slumber. Disruption of lightning was seen at various places.

    The Meteorological Centre has predicted that Kalbaisakhi will likely hit the south and coastal Odisha today. Yellow warning has been issued to 21 districts for lightning and thunder. The regional Meteorological center has informed that the wind will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour in some places.

    4 injured after tractor rammed into house in Ganjam of Odisha

    Berhampur: In a sad incident as many as four persons sustained injury after a tractor rammed into a house in Ganjam district of Odisha on Saturday. The incident took place in the Badadumbala village under Digapahandi Police Station limits in the district.

    As per reports, the driver of the speeding tractor lost control over the steering while passing through the Bankeshwari temple area. Accordingly, the vehicle rammed into the house of Babula Sethi when it was being driven through a turning.

    As a result of the accident, four members of the family, who were present in the house at the time of the incident, sustained injury.

    Soon, the locals called for a 108 Ambulance and the injured persons were rushed to the Digapahandi hospital.

    After getting information, Police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

    In another similar incident that took place earlier this month in Odisha a woman was killed as a car rammed into her house at Radhanagar village in Boudh district.

    As per reports, a speeding innova car enroute Boudh from Charichhak area lost control over its wheels and rammed into the house killing the woman on the spot.

    The driver of the car fled from the scene after the accident. The irate locals blocked the Khordha-Bolangir NH-57, following which vehicular movement was affected due to the road blockade. The villagers demanded compensation for the deceased family members.
