    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will review the progress of various departments from May 22, 2023

    Bhubaneswar: The fourth year of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s fifth term will be completed on May 29, 2023. The government will give an account of their success to the people of the State. The minister will give their report cards to the Chief Minister.

    The Chief Minister will start reviewing the work of various departments from May 22, 2023, said reliable reports on Wednesday. All Ministers will give details about the five major functions of their departments. 5T Secretary and ‘My Government’ will give information about the various initiatives that have been undertaken by the government. The Chief Minister has called for continued efforts towards the development of the state.

    The government has implemented a number of welfare schemes for the benefit of the common people. The primary responsibility of the Government is to fulfill the promises made to the people of the state while being elected. “We believe in deeds and not in words, we have already made it clear to the people of Odisha”, the CM has always said.

    In this context, various departments of the State government will be reviewed from May 22, 2023. According to the available information, there will be a review meeting of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Health and Family Welfare on May 22. On the 23rd, there will be a review meeting of the departments of Panchayati raj, Commerce and Transport, Handicrafts and Textiles.

    Likewise on the 23rd, Forests, Environment and Climate Change, Food Supply and Camp Welfare, and on the 24th. There will be a meeting of water resources, higher education, planning and departments on 25th. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Electronics and IT will report to the Chief Minister on 26th of May.

    G20’s 3-day education working group meeting begins in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar

    Bhubaneswar: The three-day Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting under G20 has begun in Bhubaneswar from Wednesday.

    Three-day Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting of G20 has begun in Bhubaneswar today. The event is being attended by G20 member countries, guest countries, and invited organizations such as Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

    The G20 Education Working Group workshop started in Bhubaneswar. Union Minister of State for Education Dr. Subash Sarkar inaugurated the workshop. The representatives of various countries have assembled together in the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) institute in Bhubaneswar for the program.

    In the seminar shall be discussed the issue of skill development for lifelong education in the field of future of work. Representatives of the G-20 countries are scheduled to discuss on the issue in the workshop in Bhubaneswar.

    As many as 63 delegates from 27 nations are expected to attend the three-day event. This discussion cycle is expected to create various opportunities for detailed discussion at the Education Working Group meetings, said reliable reports on Wednesday.

    The schedule says that, three panel discussions will be held on this occasion of the three-day workshop in Bhubaneswar. In the first session, emphasis will be placed on making the educational institutions all over the worldready for the future course of action related to the issues of labour market and skill development.

    Girl accused of rape, CMC sealed the hotel

    Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has sealed the hotel in which allegedly a staff had raped a girl on April 21, 2023.

    Earlier on April 22, 2023 the manager of the hotel was arrested for allegedly raping a girl in the hotel in Madhupatna area of Cuttack. The incident came to light after the girl filed a complaint with Madhupatna police station.

    As per reports, the girl is from outside Odisha and was raped in one of the hotel rooms. The girl along with some friends had come to celebrate birthday party in the hotel and had booked two rooms.

    When she was alone in the room, the hotel manager allegedly raped her.

    After knowing about the matter, the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint at the Madhupatna police Station. After getting the complaint Madhupatna Police swung into action to find out involvement of other persons in this case.

    Govt Official Suspended For ‘Selling’ School Textbooks To Scrap Dealer In Odisha’s Khurda

    Bhubaneswar: The state government has suspended an official after he was found selling school textbooks in Odisha’s Khurda district.

    The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Bolgarh on Tuesday suspended the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) of Deuli under the block in the district, Manamohan Mishra. “Manamohan Mishra, Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator of Deuli Cluster is hereby suspended from his CRCC assignment with immediate effect due to public exigency and he is instructed to return back to his parent post,” read the official order issued by the BEO.

    The order came after some villagers caught Mishra selling textbooks for Classes I to VIII to a scrap dealer at the cluster office.

    The local Ward member, who is the president of the managing committee of Deuli Sat Marg Upper Primary School, where the cluster office is located, along with the villagers detained the CRCC and informed the BEO.

    Acting on the complaint of the Ward member and villagers, the BEO suspended Mishra, seized the textbooks and sealed the Cluster office.

    5 more arrested from Varanasi for spurious drugs racket

    Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough in multi-crore fake medicines racket, a joint STF team of Odisha and Uttar Pradesh arrested 5 more persons from Varanasi in the northern state on Tuesday.

    As per report, the team led by Varanasi Drug Inspector-City Amit Kumar Bansal and Drug Inspector-Rural Sanjay Dutt carried out the joint operation for 9 days before arresting the 5 persons. The arrested persons have been identified as Chandra Sekhar Singh, Gourab Sharma, Ritesh Kumar Jaiswal, Subham Jaiswal and Abhishek Singh.

    The team also seized spurious drugs worth about Rs 25 lakh and a hard disk with a computer. They also detected a transaction of spurious drugs worth more than Rs 1 crore. A team from Bargarh police station in Odisha has taken the arrested persons in remand.

    It may be noted that the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh had arrested one person and seized fake drugs worth around Rs 7.3 crore during a raid on a house in Sigra on March 2. The accused was identified as Ashok Kumar of Bulandshahar under Secunderabad police limits in UP.

    The operation was launched by UP STF on the basis of information given by Odisha’s Health department to the Uttar Pradesh government after fake drugs seizure in Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts. The seized fake medicines had allegedly been procured from Uttar Pradesh.

    Earlier, Odisha’s Health Department had constituted a special task force comprising a senior administrative officer and selected officers of drugs control administration. On January 19, the team arrested an accused named Sunil Agrawal from Bargarh and lodged an FIR against Amit Kumar Sarwagi of Jharsuguda, who was absconding.

    The Odisha government’s action followed seizure of a huge quantity of fake drugs from two agencies in Jharsuguda and Bargarh districts in December last year. Investigation revealed that the spurious drugs were supplied from three Varanasi-based firms whose drug licenses had been cancelled, as per information provided by the UP government.

    Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday dedicated 357 transformed high schools in 4 districts of Odisha.

    Inaugurating the 3rd phase of the school transformation programme under the 5T initiative, the chief minister dedicated the schools through video-conference. The transformed high schools include 106 in Ganjam district, 87 in Angul, 57 in Keonjhar and 107 in Jagatsinghpur.

    Speaking on the occasion, Naveen said. “The success of the students is the reflection of the success of Odisha. In order to achieve this, the state government has been striving to provide all necessary facilities under the transformation programme. If the students can achieve success by utilising the resources, it would be a matter of pride for not only their families but also entire state.”

    Total 2,151 schools have been targeted to be brought under the third phase of the transformation programme. In the first 2 phases, 3,981 schools have already been transformed.

    India and Singapore can work together to create workforce of the future: Union Minister

    Bhubaneswar: There is immense scope for India and Singapore to work together to achieve mutual priorities, particularly towards preparing a future-ready workforce, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday.

    Addressing the workshop on “Future of Work: Skill Architecture and Governance Models of India and Singapore”, organised on the sidelines of the G20 3rd EDWG meeting in Bhubaneswar, the minister said skills development and knowledge collaboration is an important element of the strategic partnership.

    “Skilling is lifelong. In next quarter century, 25% of the global working population will come from India. Until and unless we skill, re-skill and up-skill our young demography and prepare them for Future of Work, we cannot fulfil global responsibilities,” he added.

    Pradhan said the joint workshop between India and Singapore will focus on leveraging the expertise and knowledge of Singapore and facilitate mutual sharing of experiences for addressing obstacles to skilling and further transforming the Indian skills ecosystem.

    In the context of Future of Work, India and Singapore are engaging holistically to deliberate on development of new curriculum for skill, framework for skilling ecosystem in higher education and compulsory apprenticeship and frameworks for lifelong skilling.

    Simon Wong, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to India, in his address mentioned the close ties that Singapore has with India. “Singapore is the first country to establish linkages with UPI through their fast payment system PayNow. Also, a few days ago, Indian rocket PSLV placed two Singapore satellites into the orbit,” he said.

    He said there is a huge opportunity to extend this cooperation to the space of skilling. Singapore follows a skilling philosophy of leaving no one behind, training for decent jobs and building a confident nation because decent job increases the confidence of the individuals and their families, he added.

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday gave nod to as many as 15 important proposals. Accordingly, Odisha is to continue as the official sponsor of the Indian Hockey Teams (Male & Female) for another 10 years till 2033.

    As per reports, the road from Khannagar to Link Road in Cuttack is to be expanded into 6-lane carriageway.

    Also, 22 castes/communities are to be included to the list of OBCs, in the State SEBC list.

    Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, 2021 is to be amended.

    Odisha Forest Service cadre is to be restructured.

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik performed Akhi Muthi friendly ritual on Akshaya Tritiya

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday launched several people-oriented programmes on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya.

    On this occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik participated in a special programme organised by the Department of Agriculture at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) farm in Bhubaneswar.

    CM Naveen also performed the ritual of Akhi Muthi Anukula and Bhumi Pujana during the programme. Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain and other officials were present during the occasion.

    On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated an ‘Agricultural Review Centre’, which will function as a ‘central command and control system’ in the state agriculture building.

    In the application of computer and information technology, it can help in decision-making by obtaining real-time information from the field level. The center will play an important role in the successful implementation of various schemes and support to the farmers.

    Chief Minister also inaugurated a creche ‘Kalika’ for the children of the employees working in Lok Seva Bhavan. Currently, it can accommodate 20 children in the initial phase.

    Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, Women and Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Secretary Mission Shakti Sujatha Karthikeyan Pandian and Secretary for Women and Child Development Shubha Sharma were present at this event.

    Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here today issued an orange warning for rain accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning over 11 districts of Odisha.

    Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hailstorms very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh till tomorrow morning, informed the weatherman.

    Meanwhile, the people of the above-mentioned districts have been advised to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Harvesting of Rabi crops may be regulated judicially.

    Likewise, yellow warning for thunderstorms with lighting and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Nuapada till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

    Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
