    MoSR Darshana reviewed Puri railway station redevelopment work

    Puri: Minister of State for Railways & Textile Darshana Jardosh on her visit to Puri today inspected Puri Railway Station and reviewed the Puri Railway Station Redevelopment Work with Railway officials.

    During her visit, Darshana stressed on the need and significance of facilities provided to the esteemed passengers. During the discussion with Railway officials, she emphasised the facilities for all types of passengers keeping in view the tourists and pilgrims.

    Darshana also advised officials to focus for all types of passengers, especially, the poor and underprivileged passengers along with the Redevelopment work. She also advised officials to focus on the development of circulating areas, concourses, Platforms, Lightings, waiting rooms, toilets, elevators, etc., which are much needed for the comfort of passengers.

    Informing the media Jardosh stated that Redevelopment work will be completed within 36 months from the start and without hampering the flow of passengers and pilgrims and praised the design which has been inspired by the local architecture of temples.

    During the review, the Union Minister praised officials for improved project monitoring system. Divisional Railway Manager Khurda Road Rinkesh Roy along with senior officials from ECoR HQs and Khurda Road Division participated in the review meeting.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has changed the class timing of the Anganwadi centres in view of the ongoing heatwave conditions across the state.

    As per the State government’s decision, the classes of the Anganwadi students will begin at 7 AM and will continue till 10 AM from tomorrow.

    The district collectors also have been directed to change the timing of the classes after reviewing the weather condition of their respective jurisdictions. They also have been asked to make arrangements for drinking water and other things to combat heatwave.

    Likewise, all government and government-aided private schools across the State have been directed to hold morning classes from 6.30 AM to 11.00 AM for classes I to XII from tomorrow as scorching summer continues to sweep the State.

    OSL Handles “IFFCO Paradip’s First Domestic Export Of Gypsum” From Paradip To Gujarat Port

    Bhubaneswar: Countries major stevedoring company, Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL), handled first of its kind IFFCO Paradip’s domestic export of Gypsum from Paradip Port. Ultratech Cement will receive the cargo at Pipavav Port in Gujarat.

    This entire operation of domestic export was overseen and handled by the well-experienced OSL that has made a name for itself as one of the top ten stevedoring companies in India.

    While the cargo was first brought through barges from the leading fertilizer firm IFFCO through its riverine jetty situated on Mahanadi River at Paradip, it was unloaded from the barges and shifted to the main berth of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) and loaded into the bigger vessel named MV Paranassos.

    Notably, OSL has achieved this unique feat by redeveloping riverine operations in Odisha after almost a century. This has proved the possibility of using waterways as a feasible mode of transport.

    On this occasion, P L Haranadh, Chairman, PPA, K J Patel, Director, IFFCO and senior officials of PPA, IFFCO and OSL were present and witnessed the new dimension of cargo transporting.

    Mahimananda Mishra, Founder, OSL Group said, “The era of new dimension to the logistics sector with the use of a multi-modal transport system has begun and OSL has played a pivotal role in this system. It gives me immense pleasure and it’s like a dream comes true for the whole OSL team.”

    Mishra further stated that this lower emission mode transport system will not only boost the country’s economy in multiple ways, but also protect our environment as well.

    Financial assistance amount increased under Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana: details

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday enhanced the financial assistance amount of the Harischandra Sahayata Jojana. Earlier, Rs 2000 was given to the next of the kin of a deceased person for performing last rites of the deceased in rural area. This has been enhanced to Rs. 3000. Similarly, earlier the amount of Harischandra Sahayata was Rs 3000 in the urban areas. It has been enhanced to Rs 4000.

    As per a note released from the Office of the CM on Thursday, it was said that as per the directive of CM Naveen Patnaik, the assistance amount of Harischandra Sahayata Yojana for urban areas has been enhanced to Rs 4000. This amount is also applicable for performing funeral rites at the famous Swargadwara of Puri. Similarly, the said amount was enhanced to Rs 3000 for rural areas.

    It is to be noted that financial assistance is provided to poor people for performing the last rites of their deceased relatives. The fund is given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

    A revolving fund of Rs 15,000 has been sanctioned for each Grampanchayats for the above-mentioned assistance. Hence, for the Revolving fund of panchayats across the State an amount of Rs 10 crore 19 lakhs and 10 thousand has been sanctioned.

    To monitor this new process either the extension officer of gram panchayat or any other block-level officer will be given charge. To meet the change, the necessary changes have been made in the software and the list of panchayats has been prepared.

    State’s first vehicle scrapping unit opened at Pitapali, Khurda

    Bhubaneswar: The first ever vehicle scrapping unit of the State is reportedly opened. Opened by Tata Motors, the said unit has been established in Pitapali area of Khordha district in Odisha. The vehicles which are older than 15 years will be sent to this unit for scrapping following bidding.

    The bidding of the old vehicles which need scrapping will be registered online in the portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India.

    While so far as many as 11 such government authorised scrapping units are working in the Country, seven of them have been made operational. Out of the seven ready units one is in Odisha. The second such scrapping unit of the State will be reportedly set up in Jajpur.

    So far bidding of 323 old vehicles belonging to the Fire and Police Departments of Odisha has been finished. Initially, as per reports scrapping of only Government vehicles will be done here.

    According to the Odisha Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Policy, 2022, notified on November 30, 2022 all the vehicles under different departments, PSUs, organisations, autonomous councils and ULBs registered 15 years ago are to be scrapped through a RVSF.

    Robbery bid foiled, Bharatpur Police arrest 6 miscreants

    Bhubaneswar: As many as six miscreants were arrested on Wednesday when planning to execute a robbery in the capital city of Odisha. The police personnel from Bharatpur Police Station arrested them.

    The accused persons have been identified as Sahadev Patsani alias Geda (28) of Village Jemadeipur, Mukundaprasad, Ps- Khordha Town, Dist- Khordha, Ujjir Khan alias Ujja (57 of Muslim Sahi, Mukundaprasad, Ps- Khordha Town, Jagannath Behera alias Happy (32 of Baseli Sahi, Khordha, Prasant Muduli (27) of Gunthuni Bhagabati Sahi, Ps-Khandapada, Dist- Nayagarh, SK Afsar Alli alias Janu (24) of Masjid Sahi, Mendhasal, Ps- Chandaka, Dist- Khordha and Bapuni Muduli and Minza (23) of Village Nuasahi, Ps- Khandapada, Dist- Nayagarh.

    The accused persons were planning to execute a big-scale robbery at a lonely place near the cremation ground in Aiginia area under Bharatpur Police limits. Acting on a tip the patrolling party conducted a raid on the spot and nabbed the criminals.

    Police have seized an iron sword, a Katuri (sharp weapon), a knife, an iron rod, two blades and chilli powder packet and a Bolero vehicle bearing Regd. No.OD-33-AB-8564 from the possession of the culprits.

    It has been learnt that three of these accused persons have past criminal records while a number of cases are pending in their names in different Police Stations in Bhubaneswar.

    Senior BJP leader and central minister Bisheswar Tudu has courted controversy by claiming that many of the officers appointed through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are “dacoits”.

    He alleged that while a “chicken thief” can be punished, an official who runs a mineral mafia cannot be touched as the system protects him.

    The union minister of state for tribal affairs and jalshakti made the remarks while addressing a gathering as chief guest at the golden jubilee function of a government school at Baliapal in Balasore district.

    He was heard making the controversial statement in a viral video. PTI could not verify the authenticity of the video clip.

    “I had an idea that those who are appointed through UPSC … they are the most knowledgeable persons and are always in high positions. But now, I feel that most of those who have qualified from there perhaps are dacoits. I do not say 100 per cent, but many of them are dacoits,” Tudu asserted.

    The UPSC is the country’s premier central recruitment commission, which functions as an independent body and appoints top government officers.

    The minister, who is an MP of Odisha, said the UPSC office is just behind his residence in Delhi, and initially he had high regard for it but that has changed now.

    During his speech, Tudu also asked: “Why is our society engulfed in corruption and injustice if such educated people are there?”.

    “It is because of lack of morality in our education system. Lack of spiritual education and thoughts among us.”.

    The minister had also stoked controversy in 2021 by accusing state government officials of misbehaving with him in his constituency in Mayurbhanj.

    Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, it has been learnt that a minor boy was put inside a gunny bag that is meant to keep potatoes. The attacker then attempted to bang him on the ground while the boy was still inside the sack. And while his father tried to save his son, the attacker allegedly thrashed him.

    Such a strange and disturbing incident has been reported from Bhadrak district of Odisha. The incident took place in the Aradi village under Dhusuri Police limits in the district.

    The victim minor boy has been identified as the son of Srikanta Biswal of Aradi. The identity of the accused is yet to be ascertained while he is so far at large.

    As per reports, the miscreant put the minor boy and tried to bang him on the ground when his father Srikanta came to his son’s rescue, but he was also attacked.

    As a result of the attack, Srikanta has reportedly sustained injuries at multiple places on his body. He then went to the Police Outpost to lodge a complaint, but allegedly the officer in Charge there denied to accept the complaint for which he then informed the matter at Dhusuri Police Station.

    Srikanta has been admitted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. He has prayed Police to arrest the attacker at the earliest.

    Rs 153 crore mega drinking water project approved for Odisha’s Cuttack

    Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday approved six important proposals in a digital cabinet meeting. Accordingly, he approved a mega drinking water project worth Rs. 153 crores and 51 lakhs for Cuttack.

    As per reports, from the said mega drinking water project, the people of 13 panchayats of the Salipur constituency, 5 panchayats of the Cuttack-Choudwar constituency and 5 panchayats of Athagarh in Cuttack district will get the benefit. A total of people from 149 villages will be benefited.

    Similarly, the CM has also approved financial assistance of Rs 314 crore for the Farmer Producer Organisations of the state. A press meet was held at the circuit house of Cuttack today where Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister, Agriculture & FE and Fisheries & ARD informed it. Saipur MLA Prashanta Behera and Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Souvik Biswal were present at the meet.

    It is to be noted that Odisha Cabinet led by Naveen Patnaik today took some key decisions in the first ever digital cabinet during his ongoing visit to Japan.

    Dead body of a person found hanging from a tree in Nayagarh district

    Nayagarh: In a sad incident, the body of a man was found hanging from a tree in Nayagarh district of Odisha on Sunday. The body was recovered from a tree on the Jhintika hill on the Bruttanga River bank. The man was missing for the last five days.

    The deceased has been identified as Bijaya Nahak of Krushnachandrapur Patana of Nayagarh district. He was a Dandua, a participant of Dandanata.

    As per reports, Nahak had set out from home along with other Danduas and the God’s palanquin to participate in the Dandanata. He had gone to the Ghughudipada village in the Daspalla area and was missing since last Wednesday.

    After Nahak went missing, the villagers and other Danduas along with Police personnel launched a manhunt to trace him. Today his body was found hanging from a tree on the bank of the Bruttanga River.

    After the recovery of the body, senior Police officials reached the spot and carried out an investigation.

    The said tragic incident frightened the villagers. It is yet to be ascertained whether it is a case of suicide or murder.

    Further investigation of the case is underway.
