BJP MLA’s statement on Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar’s ‘fight’ sparks debate

Bengaluru (IANS) : BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal has once again started a debate on the infighting in the ruling Congress party. He had said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar would “hit each other with slippers”.

Yatnal on Sunday said that the Congress government will not last for five years and CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar will soon hit each other with slippers.

He also said that Shivakumar went to the residence of former CM Basavaraj Bommai in Bengaluru to blackmail the Congress leadership to get the CM’s post in Karnataka.

BJP MP from Mysuru and Kodagu Prathap Simha challenged Congress leaders to ask Siddaramaiah to declare that he is the CM for five years. Pratap Simha claimed that CM Siddaramaiah is “preparing his ass-holes to make a statement” that he will be the full-time CM. He sarcastically said, “Siddaramaiah himself does not have the courage to tell this.”

He said, “Siddaramaiah, on his part, is getting everything told through the mouth of Social Welfare Minister Dr. HC Mahadevappa and Heavy and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil. Made CM. But, in return, Siddaramaiah’s heart is not big.

Pratap Simha said, “Congress MP and brother of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar DK Suresh has already made his displeasure clear and Suresh will grab his collar as soon as Siddaramaiah claims that he will be the Chief Minister for a full term.” Will take it. Siddaramaiah does not have the courage to say that he is the chief minister for a full term. Deputy CM Shivakumar’s role was huge in winning the election.”

Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa had said that Siddaramaiah would be the full-time CM. PWD minister Satish Jarkiholi had also said that there would be no power sharing in the state and Siddaramaiah would be the CM for the entire term.

Former BJP minister R. Ashok had said that Shivkumar’s dream of becoming CM would remain just a dream. “Siddaramaiah has successfully challenged former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and Shivakumar will stand no chance,” he said.

Speaking to IANS, Congress national spokesperson Lavanya Ballal said, “Senior BJP MLA Yatnal is known as a motor mouth. He often indulges in such things which reduce the dignity of his position. As a person who aspires to be the leader of the opposition of Karnataka, he should speak in a dignified manner.

“First they should focus on things that benefit people. Making stories about Siddaramaiah or DK Shivakumar is not good for the state. It is irrelevant. BJP should first put its house in order. They don’t have a leader of the opposition even after a month and a half after the election results. They should focus on putting their house in order first.”

He said, “The Congress government in Karnataka is providing good administration and good governance. If anything needs to be done for the betterment of the people of Karnataka, Mr Yatnal should speak up as it is his duty. They should stop indulging in fantasies and talking about it.”

BJP MLA calls Sonia Gandhi ‘Vish Kanya’

Bengaluru (IANS) | A day after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a ‘poisonous snake’, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA in Karnataka on Friday dubbed former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi as ‘Vish Kanya’. BJP MLA from Vijayapura constituency Basangowda Patil Yatnal asked Kharge, if PM Modi is poisonous snake, then Sonia Gandhi must be Vish Kanya? Being the president of the national party, Kharge does not know how to respect the Prime Minister.

Reacting to this, Karnataka unit Congress President D.K. Shivkumar said, no one knows what will happen to Yatnal if he uses such low level language. Shivakumar said, the Congress will not tolerate Yatnal’s remarks. BJP leaders should apologize for this. PM Modi and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai should also apologize and Yatnal should be expelled from the party.

The Congress leader said that it is a bad habit of BJP leaders to make statements against the Nehru-Gandhi family. Our strength will be known on May 13, he said.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje and Karnataka Higher Education Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan has said that he does not agree with Yatnal’s statements.

Bengaluru (IANS) | A special court on Tuesday remanded Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, arrested for taking bribe in a tender scam, to five-day Lokayukta police custody for further investigation. The order was given by Judge B Jayanth Kumar of the Special Court of People’s Representatives. Virupakshappa will be questioned by Lokayukta officials in a corruption case in which he is the main accused.

The Lokayukta’s counsel sought 10 days’ custody for investigation, but the MLA’s counsel requested bail as he has joined the investigation several times and is facing health issues.
