    3,315 people donated blood at TSRTC mega camp

    Hyderabad: The 101 mega blood donation camps were organised by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) across the State on Tuesday with the slogan ‘one blood donation-life for three.’ As many as 3,315 people voluntarily came and donated blood in the blood donation camps.

    According to TSRTC, a total of 3,315 units of blood were collected at the rate of 350 ml per unit from all the depots and units in the 11 regions of the State along with the outsourcing staff as well as youth and women volunteers.

    TSRTC MD, VC Sajjanar said that besides providing better, quality and safe services to passengers, the company is also a part of social service programmes. He reminded that the organisation conducted blood donation camps on Tuesday in all RTC depots in Telangana State to help those injured in road accidents as well as patients suffering from thalassemia disease. Special thanks were given to everyone who voluntarily came to the camps and donated blood as per the call of TSRTC. He praised that among all donations, blood donation is the greatest and the service of those who donate blood cannot be valued.

    Sajjanar said that as a social responsibility, the organisation’s staff and youth come forward and donate blood and become lifesavers.

    “Blood is the most urgent need of the injured in accidents. Many people were dying due to lack of blood. The blood donated by 3,315 people will save many lives,” said TSRTC Chairman, MLA Bajireddy Govardhan.

    People from all walks of life donated blood from distant places very generously. It is remarkable that the youth also came forward and participated in this camp and donated blood. Special thanks were extended to all the staff, passengers, students and youth who made the voluntary blood donation camps organised by the TSRTC a success.

    Visakhapatnam: A number of employees turned up for a blood donation camp and eye check-up organised by Manoj Vaibhav Gems N Jewellers Limited (Vaibhav Jewellers) in the city on Sunday.

    The event marked the 57th birth anniversary of founder of the jewellers Manoj Kumar Grandhi.

    Supported by AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank and MaxiVision Hospitals, the camp saw over 90 employees of V Square donating blood. Along with eye care tips, the platform aided the employees in availing free eye checkup as well.

    Attending as chief guest, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) V Vidya Sagar Naidu inaugurated the blood donation and eye check-up camp.

    Addressing the gathering, Vidya Sagar Naidu stated that late Manoj Kumar Grandhi was not only a great visionary but also an inspiring businessman.

    He appreciated Bharata Mallika Ratna Kumari Grandhi for transforming the vision of her husband into reality.

    CMD of the jewellers Bharata Mallika Ratna Kumari Grandhi, whole-time director Grandhi Sai Keerthana, Kankatala CMD Kankatala Mallik and medical director of AS Raja Blood Bank, among others were present.

    The local unit of Radha Soami Satsang oganised a blood donation camp on the 106th birthday of Baba Bagga Singh, the founder of the sect.

    A team of the Health Department led by Dr Randeep Kaur Bal, Blood Transfusion Officer (BTO), collected 164 units of blood donated by the followers of the sect. The donors were honoured with certificates. Dr Bal besides Nirvail Singh Sandhu, Gurbachan Singh and other para-medical staff were honoured by Baba Paramjit Singh, head of the sect, for their services at the camp.

    A blood donation and organ donation camp was organised by the Awakening mission, in collaboration with the local District Bar Association, in the memory of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day at the District Courts complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh, today.

    As many as 167 persons donated blood and more than 20 persons pledged organ donation as a mark of respect to the great martyrs of the independence struggle.

    The prominent among those who attended the camp were Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, former IG of Punjab and Amritsar North MLA; Arunvir Vashista, District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh; and Vijay James, Legal Remembrance-cum-Director Prosecution, Chandigarh.

    Shankar Gupta, president, District Bar Association, Chandigarh, also participated in the camp.
