    ABVP calls for school shutdown today

    Hyderabad:The State ABVP has called for Telangana schools bandh on June 26 to protest the BRS government encouraging private corporate forces while weakening its own institutions.

    Working committee member Jeevan in a statement on Sunday accused the government of failing after assuring to strengthen its schools by creating basic facilities through the ‘Mana Badi and Mana Ooru’ programme.

    Jeevan stated that the government also failed to provide books, uniforms and mid-day meals in schools, besides releasing funds.

    The ABVP leader demanded immediate provision of books and uniforms to students of government schools; release ‘Mana Badi Mana Ooru’ funds; create basic facilities; immediately fill vacant posts of teachers as also DEOs/MEOs; arrange quality mid-day meals; check collection of extra fee by corporate institutions, besides implementing a uniform fee structure; ban corporate schools running with one name; take strong action against private/corporate schools for collecting fee in the name of books, dress, donations, implement uniform fee as also Right to Education.

    Call to implement Hindi in official work of Railways

    Vijayawada : The South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, conducted the 183rd Divisional Official Language Implementation Committee meeting here on Tuesday, under the Chairmanship of Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada.

    Addressing the committee members, Shivendra Mohan congratulated all the officers for securing second place in Akhil Railway Hindi Drama Competition held at Kapurthala in March 2023. The DRM insisted on the importance of the implementation of the official language for national integration. He reiterated that it is the responsibility of all the Central government offices to implement Hindi in the day-to-day official work. He gave suggestions regarding the implementation of Rajbhasha in day-to-day work.

    M Srikanth, ADRM, Operations, lauded the efforts of the Hindi Department of Vijayawada Division in official language implementation in day-to-day working. D Srinivasa Rao, ADRM, Infrastructure & Additional Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari; Dr L Ravikanth, ACMS, Administration; and other officials attended the meeting.

    Call to take preventive steps against dengue

    Vijayawada (NTR district): The Planning Commission Vice-Chairman and Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu urged the public to get aware of dengue and take preventive steps.

    As part of observing National Dengue Day, an awareness programme was held at VMC Kalyana Mandapam at Vambay Colony here on Tuesday. The programme was jointly organised by District Medical and Health department and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. MLA Malladi Vishnu, NTR district Collector Dr S Dilli Rao, VMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar and others participated in the programme.

    Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vishnu suggested that people should use mosquito nets and other preventive measures to protect themselves from mosquito menace. He also asked the citizens to remove water stagnation and maintain their premises hygienic.

    Collector Dr Dilli Rao said mosquito menace eradication would be possible with the participation of officials and people and added that everyone must have awareness of dengue fever and its effects.

    VMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar stated that they were taking several preventive measures to eradicate the mosquito menace and added that they were organising an anti-larva programme by using drones to contain mosquito menace.

    VMC Deputy Mayor Avuthu Sri Sailaja, Malaria Deputy Director Ramanadham, DM & HO Dr M Suhasini, VMC CMOH Dr Ratnavali and others participated in the awareness programme.
