    Raipur. State Women’s Commission Chairperson Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak has constituted a two-member team to investigate the incident with women prisoners in Central Jail Ambikapur (Surguja). This team has been instructed to visit the scene of the incident, Central Jail Ambikapur, investigate and submit detailed information about the case within seven days.

    In relation to the incident in Surguja (Ambikapur) Central Jail, Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak, Chairperson, Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission, discussed with the Inspector General of Police through phone and informed him that on June 28, the investigation team formed by the commission would reach Ambikapur Central Jail and investigate. .

    It may be noted that in the news published in the newspapers on June 24, Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak, chairperson of the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission, has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident that happened with women prisoners in Central Jail Ambikapur. He has formed a team of two members of the commission to investigate the matter after reaching the spot. In this team, members of the Women’s Commission Neeta Vishwakarma and Archana Upadhyay as well as Superintendent of Police District Surguja (Ambikapur) have been asked to investigate and send the report to the commission within seven days.

    An undertrial accused, who was in jail in connection with a theft case, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at the Central Jail, Ambala, on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Hrithik (19), a resident of Rampur in Ambala.

    On May 18, some Samlehri village residents caught Hrithik stealing a wire from a tubewell in a field. He was produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody on May 19. Last evening, he hanged himself from a grill of a ventilator in a bathroom on the jail premises.

    Ram Kumar, SHO, Baldev Nagar police station, said, “Last evening we got information that a 19-year-old old boy who was lodged at the Central Jail in a theft case committed suicide inside a bathroom. The body was handed over to his kin after the postmortem today.”

    Due to raids in all the jails of the state by the Home Minister, the condition of the police has become like a rat dug out of a mountain during the search in the Central Jail of Vadodara. At seven in the morning, a staff of 100 policemen including police officers came out after completing the raiding process. No incriminating material was recovered from the Vadodara Central Jail in a 10-hour search operation by the police. Police said only three packets of gutkha, tobacco and dried leaves for making bidis were found. Significantly, there is said to be a beedi leaf tree in the jail premises.

    Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi reached Sabarmati Jail alone

    It is worth mentioning that there was a stir in the police department after Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi ordered intensive checking in all the jails of the state including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat by visiting the Police Bhavan in Gandhinagar late on Friday night. Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi alone reached Sabarmati Jail when it came to the notice that mobile phones were repeatedly recovered after the incident of serving paan, masala, liquor, gutkha and favorite food to the prisoners.

    No serious items found in jail

    The condition of 32 jails including the law and order situation of the state was reviewed. Police were ordered to conduct raids in all jails of the state after 7 pm. Following this order, the Central Jail of Vadodara was also raided. A staff of 100 police personnel including senior police officers and women police personnel joined the campaign. A search operation was carried out for 10 hours from late night till morning in Vadodara’s Central Jail. At seven in the morning, a convoy of police personnel including police officers came out of the jail. During interrogation, the police officer said that no serious material was found in the jail.
