Karnataka elections: BJP candidates list will be released in the first week of April

Bengaluru (IANS) | Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the Karnataka BJP will announce its list of candidates in the first week of April. Meanwhile, Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar has said that the second list of the Congress party will be released on March 30.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, Bommai said the BJP would announce the list of candidates most probably in the first week of April. “There will be a fight for the ticket as there is a demand from the winning party,” he said.

There is no coordination with the JD(S) party in the old Mysuru region. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had clearly said that there is no alliance with any party. “I am saying again. There will be no alliance with JD(S).”

Bommai said Shivakumar has been calling up all the sitting MLAs of the BJP and offering them tickets. He said, “He has been calling our MLAs since two-three days. This shows the desperation of the Congress party. They are contacting our MLAs as they have not found candidates. It also shows the bankruptcy of the Congress party.” it shows.”

Congress leader Shivakumar said the second list of 100 candidates would be declared after March 30. The party has already announced tickets for 124 candidates ahead of the BJP. “There is no disagreement. We will accommodate all party leaders,” he said.

He further said that all reports about Congress party approaching JD(S) are false. “We have not approached anyone. We will form the government on our own. He (JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy) should come forward with the names who had approached him. This is completely false,” he said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai calls Congress’s electoral guarantee ‘fake’

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday dismissed Congress’ poll ‘guarantees’ as “bogus announcements”, and said their leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the poll-bound state will not have any impact.

He said, the people of Karnataka will not give any value to the former AICC President’s words, after his recent controversial statements in London, regarding the state of democracy in the country.

During Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Belagavi on Monday, the Congress announced its fourth ‘guarantee’ “YuvaNidhi’ — Rs 3,000 every month for graduate youth and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders (both in the age group of 18-25) for two years, 10 lakh jobs in five years and filling up of 2.5 lakh govt jobs within one year, in the event of the party coming to power in the State, where Assembly elections are due by May.

“Rahul Gandhi has come and gone several times (to Karnataka), he has done the Bharat Jodo Yatra also, but it has not made any effect. Monday’s announcement was a bogus announcement, there is no impact,” Bommai said in response to a question.

Speaking to reporters, he said, “there is a lot of difference between Rahul Gandhi’s last visit and Monday’s. His speech in London in between the two visits, against the country and regarding democracy, is being condemned across the country, including Karnataka. So people of Karnataka will not give any value to his words”.
