The Women and Child Development Department of the state government has invited applications for the recruitment of 440 vacant Supervisor posts. The Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board, Raipur, will organize a competitive examination for the appointment on these vacant posts.

    Only female candidates domiciled in the state will be eligible for the Supervisor recruitment test. The exams will be conducted through open direct recruitment and limited direct recruitment. 220 posts are available for open direct recruitment, and women belonging to all categories can apply for them. Four years ago, ten women from the Kasturba Self-Help Group decided to work in Gauthan of Sirpur village in Mahasamund district of Saraipali district panchayat. The group now earns lakhs from the sales of cow dung and by making vermicompost. Along with this, income-generating activities such as the cultivation of vegetables and poultry farming are also conducted. A member of the group stated that earlier they were bound to household chores, but after joining the group and working in Gauthan, their self-esteem and confidence have improved, and they are now heading towards self-reliance by working in Gauthan.

People consume addictive substances including marijuana, cannabis, opium, tobacco, alcohol, ‘gutka’, smoking, heroin, cocaine, and brown sugar. Chhattisgarh Police is actively taking measures to combat this issue, and the government is making concerted efforts to prevent it. However, the success of this campaign relies on effectively connecting with the public’s mindset and reaching every individual. The escalating prevalence of drug abuse among the youth is a matter of grave concern.

    In order to safeguard society from the devastating effects of drug abuse, prevent the younger generation from ruining their lives, and utilize their full potential for nation-building, it is essential to launch an extensive awareness campaign promoting a drug-free lifestyle. Seminars should be organized in secondary schools, colleges, and universities to raise awareness among students. Active collaboration from NGOs, social, cultural, and religious institutions, alongside government efforts, should be encouraged.

So far, 708 youths belonging to special backward tribes have been given government jobs in the state. Tribal Development Minister Dr. Prem Sai Singh Tekam, Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma and Director of Tribal Development Department Mrs. Shammi Abidi were also present on the occasion at the Chief Minister’s residence. Parliamentary Secretary U.D. Minj and MLA Vinay Bhagat joined the program through virtual medium from the venue.
