    College student ends life in Bhubaneswar

    Bhubaneswar: Yet another college student committed suicide in Sector-5 of Niladri Vihar of Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

    The deceased has been identified as Satyaswarup Panda. He was the third year student of computer science in Polytechnic.

    While the exact reason behind Panda’s death is yet to be known, his family members said that he was addicted to drug and this might have forced him to take the drastic step.

    The Chandrasekhar Police reached the spot along with a scientific team and started an investigation into the matter.

    Meanwhile, the student’s body was sent to the Capital Hospital for postmortem.

    Earlier on May 12, an ITI student named Rudra Madhav Rana committed suicide inside the hostel of an institute under Mancheswar Police station limits in the Capital City. The body of Rana, who was a first year student of electrical trade at the ITI, was found hanging.

    However, his family members alleged that Rana ended his life after he was beaten up by a lecturer.

    THOOTHUKUDI: A first-year visual communication student was allegedly attacked by two professors at Kamaraj college on Wednesday. The victim Nesamani (22) was admitted to Thoothukudi medical College hospital. Condemning the incident, cadres attached to SFI and DYFI, headed by the respective district secretaries Karthik and Suresh, staged a demonstration at the Chidambara Nagar bus stop, demanding action against the professors.

    According to sources, Nesamani of Rajiv Nagar near Mullakadu, who has been pursuing a degree in visual communications, is also the head of the SFI- Kamaraj College union. In a complaint to the Thoothukudi South police, Nesamani claimed that the professors, during an internal examination, found answers on the blackboards, which were written a week ago. The invigilator sent out three students for copying it without intimating it to the teachers concerned and threatened to suspend them. The professor then picked Sam among the three, and assaulted him, he alleged.

    “When I tried to stop the professors from attacking Sam, the duo pulled me inside the classroom and punched me in my chest,” Nesamani told TNIE after being admitted to the emergency ward of Thoothukudi medical hospital.

    When contacted, both the professors refuted the allegations and said that the issue is being exaggerated after the students were rebuked for copying in the exam hall. “We have given an explanation about the incident to the college principal,” they said.

    After analysing the CCTV footage, the college authorities found that the complainant Nesamani walking normally towards the exit of the campus in three video footage, which raises suspicions about the student’s allegations of being roughed up by the professors.

    Lucknow: Roshni (age 21) is a college student from Ait Nagar, Jalaun District, Uttar Pradesh. He is studying BA in a local college.

    In this case, Roshni wrote the exam today in the college. Roshni was walking home around 11 o’clock after writing the morning exam.

    Roshni was walking on a busy road. Then, 2 people on a bike intercepted Roshni. Later, they shot Roshni barrage with their country gun. In this incident, Roshni collapsed and died on the spot.

    The 2 shooters immediately fled from there on a bike. The police station is 200 meters away from the spot where Roshni, a college student, was shot dead in broad daylight on the middle of the road. The shooting incident took place near the police station.

    The police have registered a case in connection with this incident and have arrested a person on the basis of suspicion and are investigating.
