  • Crime Branch busts IPL betting racket at Porvorim

    An Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket was busted by the Crime Branch in Porvorim and arrested 14 persons for their involvement in the crime.

    Equipment worth over Rs 25.38 lakh was seized and an offence under the relevant provisions of the Goa Daman & Diu Public Gambling Act (GDDPG) has been registered.

    The raid was conducted on Friday at in a closed premises of Dynasty Villa No 1, Vidya Enclave, Porvorim where in 14 accused were caught red handed while accepting bets on the on-going 20-20 IPL Cricket match played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

    The Crime Branch sleuths seized Rs 38,000, 47 mobile phones, a laptop, three LED TVs, three internet routers, three television set-top boxes, one router modem and other gaming electrical accessories. The seized items have been valued at Rs 25.38 lakh and has been attached after conducting the panchanama.

    The alleged accused Ranjit Gedam, 28, Pravin Rajput, 24, Ankit, 24, Nanda Kishan, 54, Jyotiprakash Ray Kishan, 38, Kesham Yadaro, 20, Ayaz Khan Khan, 26, Jagdish Arjun Verma, 24, Rajan Rakesh Dube, 23, Kawal Pritam Singh, 40, Pankaj Gautam Chaure, 27, Manjeet Singh, 41, Nitish Pandey, 19 all natives of Chhattisgarh and Mohit Kumar Tiwari, 28 from Bihar have been arrested by the Crime branch and an offence under section 3 and 4 of the GDDPG Act has been registered against them.

    Recently the dead body of an unknown youth was found in Shahibagh area of Ahmedabad. The police had to struggle a lot to identify who this young man was. It was a big challenge for the police to solve the mystery of who killed this young man. Therefore, the crime branch also got involved in the investigation of this matter. The Crime Branch had identified this young man from the logo of a T-shirt. Apart from this, also inquired about where he was going. The crime branch has taken further action by arresting the killers of this young man.

    The deceased was the security guard of his company

    Police was trying to identify this dead youth but police could not find any link. During this, an officer of Crime Branch, while investigating himself, made a strong discovery. The T-shirt that the deceased youth was wearing had the company’s logo on it. Based on the logo, the company was contacted and the youth was identified. When the crime branch official contacted the company and inquired about their cricket match or any other tournament, they came to know that it was the company’s cricket match. T-shirts with the company logo were distributed to all the participants. that of the deceased
    When he took the photo to the manager of the company, it was found that the deceased was the security guard of his company.

    He left after arranging Rs 100

    The deceased youth wanted to go to Rajasthan and had left after arranging 100 rupees from somewhere. He had less money on the way, so he was going on foot. He was going from Shahibagh Kaver Complex towards Ghoda Camp from SRP Head Patan. Seeing a bag with him on the way some people stopped him and tried to steal the bag thinking that he had some valuable thing in it. When the young man opposed this, they started attacking him with a sharp weapon. The young man was murdered with the intention of robbery. The deceased had only 100 rupees. In this whole case, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested the accused.

    Ghaziabad (IANS) | The crime branch team of Ghaziabad has got a big success. A vicious accused who has been absconding since 2019 has been arrested by the Crime Branch team. A reward of 50 was declared on this. For the last several years, it was doing different things by changing the name at different places. Recently, he was posted as a supervisor in a train cleaning company in Gujarat. Dozens of cases of robbery and snatching have been registered on this in different police stations. He has gone to jail many times before. The team of Crime Branch Police Commissionerate Ghaziabad has arrested Pran Singh, wanted accused in the Gangster Act for many years. In police interrogation, Pran Singh told that he was a resident of Vaishali, Bihar and his father used to work as an LIC agent in West Bengal. Due to less earning, he came to Ghaziabad and started working as a laborer, then gradually he formed his own gang here in 2018. Together with which it started carrying out incidents of mobile robbery, snatching, looting etc. Pran Singh was arrested in 2018 and then released on bail, after that once again he was arrested in 2019 and came out through fake bail.

    According to the information received from the police, after bail, he went to Mumbai and started working as a motorboat driver there. In 2022, it reached Ankleshwar in Gujarat and started working there as a supervisor in the OBSH company that does the cleaning of trains. As of now, he has been caught by the police and action is being taken on this.
