    Court extends Sisodia’s judicial custody till June 1

    New Delhi (IANS) | A Delhi court on Tuesday extended till June 1 the judicial custody of jailed AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case. The matter is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court has also ordered the jail authorities to consider his request to provide him a chair and table for the purpose of study. A copy of the detailed order is awaited.

    According to media reports, the same court had on May 12 extended Sisodia’s judicial custody till June 2, the matter being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

    Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 this year, followed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 9.

    The ED has alleged that Sisodia was the mastermind behind the entire excise policy case and had deliberately leaked the policy along with co-accused to collect bribe.

    Last month, special judge MK Nagpal had denied bail to the AAP leader, saying prima facie evidence points to his involvement in the crime.

    Roorkee (IANS) | A passenger bus carrying 40 passengers met with an accident on Sunday. The accident happened near Roorkee on the Delhi-Haridwar Highway while trying to save a car. The bus of Muzaffarnagar depot near Roorkee on the Delhi-Haridwar highway fell into a ditch while trying to save the car coming from the opposite direction. It is a matter of honor that the passengers have got minor injuries.

    Three passengers had more injuries, who have been admitted to Roorkee Civil Hospital. In which roadways bus driver is also included. A passenger bus carrying 40 passengers met with an accident on Sunday. The car driver fled during the incident. After the accident, the passengers of the bus traveled ahead of another bus.

    IPL betting racket busted in Delhi, two arrested

    New Delhi (IANS) | A high-profile IPL gambling racket was busted in South Delhi on Sunday and two bookies were arrested. The police gave this information. The bookies have been identified as Amit Chowdhary and Sunil. Software used for betting, two laptops, 15 mobile phones with call recordings of punters, an LED TV and other electronic gadgets were recovered from them.

    Police said that their team had been working for a long time to bust the gang.

    Police said, in this sequence, information was received that a high profile IPL betting racket is being operated in the police station Hauz Khas area. The gang was busted by raids.

    Woman hangs herself in first month of marriage in Delhi

    New Delhi (IANS) | A 23-year-old woman committed suicide in Delhi’s Bhalswa village less than a month after her marriage. An official gave this information on Monday. According to the police, the police control room received information about the hanging of the woman in Bhalswa village under Jahangirpuri police station area at around 6.40 pm on Sunday, following which a police team was sent to the spot.

    Preliminary inquiry revealed that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan with a sari.

    She had recently married Vivek Yadav on April 22, said a senior police officer.

    Legal proceedings have been initiated under section 176 of the CrPC, the official said. The direction of further investigation will be decided after the postmortem. The SDM of the area has also been called for necessary action.

    Delhi Police nabs wanted criminal of a murder case

    New Delhi (IANS) | Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a sharp shooter of ‘Chhenu Gang’. The accused was wanted in a murder and dacoity case in Civil Lines. The Crime Branch gave this information on Sunday. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that the accused has been identified as 26-year-old Mohit Chauhan.

    Irfan Pehalwan is running the Chhenu gang. Members of this gang rob businessmen doing business in Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh and surrounding areas.

    Their main target is to rob carriers carrying cash. The officer further said that a person was shot dead during a robbery on May 8 in the Civil Lines area.

    Crime Branch got information that Mohit Chauhan involved in the incident is hiding in Aligarh. The crime branch received a tip-off that the accused was about to come to his uncle’s dhaba on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh highway by bike. After this a trap was laid and he was caught.

    During interrogation, Mohit disclosed that he along with his 5 accomplices Faheem, Sammu, Sehnwaz, Alam and Javed robbed the victim, who was coming out of the market. When the victim protested, Mohit shot him.

    New Delhi (IANS) | The Delhi High Court on Wednesday fixed August 7 for hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). In this, a demand has been made to direct the CBI to investigate and prosecute Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Both the leaders have been accused of making misleading statements against the central government. A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad granted time to the petitioner to file certain documents.

    The court has fixed the matter for further hearing on August 7.

    Petitioner, social activist and farmer Surjit Singh Yadav, in a PIL filed through advocate Barun Kumar Sinha, has also sought the court’s direction to the news channels to remove false and misleading statements of the two leaders.

    It has been said in the petition that both the leaders have made a false and misleading claim on the central government to forgive lakhs of crores of rupees to the capitalists. This has affected the prestige of the government.

    New Delhi (IANS) | A minor stabbed a man to death after an argument in North Delhi’s Timarpur area. A police officer gave this information on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Kunal, a resident of Timarpur.

    According to the police, at around 10 pm on Tuesday night, a police team reached the spot after receiving a call about a person being stabbed with a knife on Fateh Singh Road near the CPWD office in Timarpur police station.

    Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “The injured Kunal was taken to the trauma center in a PCR van, but he was declared brought dead.” A case has been registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

    During the investigation, the minor who executed the incident has been arrested. The knife used in the crime has also been recovered from the possession of the accused, the officer said.

    New Delhi (IANS) | A 35-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight by three assailants in central Delhi on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Imran alias Nanhe, a resident of Laxmi Nagar. According to the police, at around 3.30 pm on Friday afternoon, information about the firing incident was received from Kabootar Bazar near Dargah Sheikh Kalimulla.

    When the SHO of Jama Masjid police station reached the spot along with his team, they found that an injured person was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.

    On enquiry, it was found that three persons had come on foot and fired three shots at Imran who was sitting at his shop in Kabootar Market, a senior police officer said.

    Several teams have been formed to nab the attackers, the official said. CCTV footage of the surrounding areas is being scanned.

    Man attacks family with axe, wife killed, children injured

    New Delhi (IANS) | A wife was killed while her son and daughter were injured when her husband attacked her with an ax in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area on Thursday, police said. The deceased has been identified as Suman. According to the police, a PCR call was received at 6:24 am, informing that the caller’s mother was attacked by her husband with an axe.

    A police team reached the spot and found the woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries on her neck, said Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South). He was declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital by the police. The 30-year-old daughter of the deceased had injury marks on her neck, while her 28-year-old son had injury marks on his neck and forehead.

    Both identified their father Vijay Veer (55) as the attacker.

    The DCP said, an injury mark was also found on the left wrist of the accused on the spot, which was self-inflicted by him. On investigation it was found that Suman married Vijay in 1992 and the couple had two children, a daughter born in 1993 and a son in 1995.

    The DCP said, after his marriage, he lived at Neb Sarai, the house of Vijay Veer’s relative. However, Vijay reportedly often taunted and tortured his wife. In 2017, Vijay opened fire on his family to eliminate him, resulting in his son suffering from gunshot wounds. A case was registered against Vijay, but the family later settled the matter and the proceedings were quashed.

    Since the incident, Vijay has been torturing and neglecting his family. The DCP said, on the day of the incident, he attacked his wife when she was sleeping, with the intention of eliminating the entire family.

    After killing his wife, Vijay attacked his children with an axe, but he managed to snatch the weapon from her and locked himself in the room before calling the police.

    Vijay has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder), Chowdhary said.

    New Delhi (IANS) | The body of an unidentified person was found lying in a garbage dump in Delhi’s Pratap Nagar area on Thursday. A police officer gave this information. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that on Thursday, a PCR call was received about a body in a garbage dump at Gulabi Bagh police station.

    Kalsi said, inquiries were made in this regard but even after a lot of effort, the body could not be identified.

    The body was sent for post-mortem and in the autopsy report, the doctor said that the death was due to injury caused by a heavy object.

    Based on the opinion of several doctors regarding the injuries on the body, it appears that it was an accident, Kalsi said. However, a legal advisor who has also investigated the matter has recommended that an FIR be registered under section 304A of the IPC.

    The official said that further investigation is on.
