    Fishing boat capsizes in Chitrakonda dam in Malkangiri, One missing

    Malkangiri: One person has gone missing on Wednesday evening after a fishing boat capsized following rain and strong winds in Chitrakonda dam in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

    According to reports, three people identified as Krupa, Hari and Kailash, of Dyke-3 village had gone fishing in the dam and were returning from Singaram area when the boat capsized due to sudden rain and winds. Hari Sagaria and Kailash Nayak managed to swim back ashore after the boat capsized. However, Krupa Benia had gone missing after the incident.

    They immediately informed the villagers who launched a rescue operation. However, the search operation was suspended midway due to darkness.

    On Thursday morning, the villagers resumed the operation, which was later joined by a team of the fire services department. However, there is still no trace of the missing Krupa.

    Telangana Govt will launch Gruhalakshmi scheme by June end: Harish Rao

    Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the State government would launch the Gruhalakshmi scheme by the end of June.

    The Gruhalakshmi scheme scheme was designed to grant Rs 3 lakh to homeless people to help them build a house on their own land. Addressing a programme organised to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene at Potharam village in Dubbaka on Wednesday, the Minister said the Telangana government will also start distributing nutrition kits to 6.8 lakh pregnant women across the State in June.

    The Minister, who expressed displeasure over Asha workers and health department staff who had distributed NCD kits to only 261 patients out of 450 in Potharam village, asked them to distribute the kits to all diabetes and BP patients without any delay.

    The Minister also asked the women to utilise the Arogya Mahila scheme by visiting a hospital at Thimmapur. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson V Roja Sharma and others were present.

    Earlier, Harish Rao presented a cheque worth Rs 2 lakh to a TRS worker’s family at Narayanraopet. Speaking on the occasion, he has said 47 families benefited from the party membership insurance in Siddipet constituency alone.

    Three more arrested by SIT in TSPSC question paper leak case

    Hyderabad: Three more persons were arrested on Wednesday by the SIT of Hyderabad police, which is probing the TSPSC question paper leak case.

    The arrested persons Ravi Kishore, who works as a junior assistant in Nalgonda; Vikram, who works as a car driver and his sister Divya, had purchased Divisional Accountant Officer (DAO) and Assistant Engineer paper from one Suresh a middleman who was arrested previously by the SIT.

    The trio had paid some amount to Suresh who in turn took the paper from Rajasekhar Reddy and Praveen Kumar, the prime suspects in the case. So far, 39 persons have been arrested in the TSPSC paper leak case by the SIT.

    Hyderabad: Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari directed Heads of Departments to appoint nodal officers for their respective departments to oversee arrangements for the upcoming Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

    The Chief Secretary on Wednesday held a review meeting with senior officials of various departments to discuss arrangements for the upcoming event and asked them to highlight the achievements of each department during the last nine years of the formation of the State. All the important public monuments and buildings, including Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, Assembly and other famous buildings should be illuminated on all the days, she said, adding that steps should be taken to ensure uninterrupted power and drinking water supply during the period of celebrations.

    Director General of Police Anjani Kumar, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Sunil Sharma, GAD Secretary V Seshadri, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand and other senior officials were present.

    Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a youth has been hacked and killed mercilessly in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha on Wednesday.

    The incident has been reported from Unit I area of the temple city of Odisha. The alleged miscreant has allegedly used a sword, attacked the youth and killed him.

    The deceased has been identified as Sushant. The miscreant who attacked the youth has been missing since he committed the act.

    The locals at the scene of the incident were shocked to see the ruthlessness with which the youth had been murdered.

    The Capital Police was immediately informed. On getting the information, the police immediately reached the spot and initiated an investigation in this regard.

    The police have found out from the preliminary investigation that this murder took place in connection with a previous enmity.

    The murder allegedly took place late last night. The investigation in this case is underway, detailed report in this matter is awaited.

    Aul: There has been a massive fire in a clothes bazaar in Aul of Kendrapara district in Odisha on Wednesday, said reliable reports.

    According to reliable reports, a fire broke out and burnt clothes worth almost half a crore of rupees. A fire occurred in the ‘New Trend’ cloth store in Nua bazaar area of Kendrapada district.

    The fire was reported in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Seeing the clothes store burn and the smoke bellowing out of the window the local people immediately informed the fire department of Aul.

    The fire was brought under control after tireless efforts of the fire fighters and the locals. The fire was so fierce that the cloth items inside the shop were reduced to ashes. The loss is estimated to be around Rs. 50 lakh.

    Along with this, as many as 30 LED TVs of a nearby electrical shop which were stored in the dress shop were also burnt to ashes completely.

    Property worth more than 50 lakh rupees has been destroyed due to the fire, said reliable reports. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

    Kandhamal: A Maoist camp was busted on Wednesday in Kandhamal district of Odisha while huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. Reportedly, one .303 Rifle, two other Rifles, electric wire, tiffin IEDs, pregnancy kits and other camp articles of Maoists were recovered from the Maoist camp in the Budhanai Reserve Forest area under Tumudibandh Police Station limits.

    Based on reliable intelligence input about the presence of a group of armed cadres (about 20-22) of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in Budhanai Reserve Forest under Tumudibandh PS of Kandhamal district and their plan to carry out subversive attacks, an operation was launched in the area by SOG and District Police.

    On 24.05.2023 in the early morning hours, the operational team came across a group of Maoists inside the Budhanai Reserve Forest area under Tumudibandh PS.

    On seeing the police team, the Maoists started indiscriminate fire upon the police team. The operational team retaliated the fire in self-defence observing due formalities.

    The exchange of fire continued for about half an hour. Taking advantage of the forest terrain the Maoists managed to escape.

    During the subsequent search in the area, a Maoist camp was detected from which one .303 Rifle, two other Rifles, electric wire, tiffin IEDs, pregnancy kit and other camp articles of Maoists have been recovered.

    Blood stains were also found at the spot suggesting injury to a few Maoist cadres in this exchange of fire.

    Senior officers are monitoring the development. Combing operation is continuing in the said area. More SOG and CRPF teams have been deployed to intensify the operation.

    Rayagada: The Norwester rains wreaked havoc in Rayagada district of Odisha on Wednesday. Due to its affect, the roofs of houses were blown off. Also, one person was killed due to lightning strike.

    As per reports, the norwester rains wreaked havoc today in many villages in the Bissamcuttack area in Rayagada district.

    Thunder squall accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind was experienced in the Chatikana, Mandapai and Matakabadi villages. Accordingly, roofs of many houses blown off and houses got damaged. Similarly, communication was cut off in the Mandapai village as a large tree fell on the road.

    Same situation has been witnessed in the Chatikana village. A few vehicles including Tata Magic and Auto rickshaw got damaged due to tree felling. Also, the vegetable marker and a few houses got partially damaged.

    In Badamatak village, a youth was killed due to lightning strike while he had gone to collect mangoes. He has been identified as Budu Kandpani.

    Delhi. Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Kotwali, Daryaganj’s SDM, Labor Department, Child Development Section and Police, 41 children were freed from the toy factories in Azad Market. Children rescued during these raids, which were killed in collaboration with the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi, were clearly hungry and exhausted.
    Dozens of factories located on Ram Bagh Road in Azad Market were sealed after raids and FIRs have been lodged against their owners at Bada Hindu Rao police station. The rescued children ranged in age from 13 to 17 and were all in ragged clothes and barefoot. It is alleged that all these children were made to sleep daily from nine in the morning till midnight. They were neither given proper food nor did they have any place to sleep. After working till midnight, he had to sleep in the factory itself. The rescued children are from Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. After the rescue, the Chief District Health Officer (Central Delhi) got all these children medically examined. After this these children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee from where they were sent to a shelter home.

    Kotwali, Daryaganj SDM Arvind Rana, who is leading the operation, said in the order that these factory owners have violated the provisions of the Child and Juvenile Labor Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Bonded Labor Abolition Act. On the orders of the SDM, the police have registered an FIR against these factory owners under the provisions of Bonded Labor Act, Child Labor Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Trafficking Act.

    On the alarming problem of child trafficking and child labour, BBA Director Manish Sharma said, “It is a matter of concern for the entire society that even after decades of independence, we have not been able to free our children from the scourge of child labour. It is a matter of shame for all of us to see children making toys at the age of playing with toys. This is the second major action of BBA to free children from child labor in the national capital in the last ten days. Last week, 14 children were rescued from Naraina in a joint action by BBA, SDM, Delhi Cantt, Labor Department and Police. Most of them were in poor health and had burn marks on their hands and feet.
