With the construction of the Gudhiyari side, the passengers going to and from Gudhiyari side will be able to enter and exit directly from platform number 7. The compulsion for them to use the foot over bridge and the escalator to enter from the Gudhiyari side will end.

    (3) The work of the newly constructed foot over bridge being constructed towards the fort end at Raipur station will be completed and it will be put into use so that the passengers will be able to enter Raipur station through the newly constructed foot over bridge as well as come to all the platforms. Will be able to With the commencement of the newly constructed foot over bridge, for the first time passengers will also get the facility of ramp to move from one platform to another in the station.

    (4) The work of doubling between Raipur to Titlagarh will be completed, this will be a very important work. Doubling in this section will help in the operation of trains, which will increase the capacity of running trains, which will directly benefit the passengers.

    (5) By getting space for train operation, there will be benefit in the movement of trains, which will increase the punctuality of trains.

    CHENNAI: As the DMK government headed by him stepped into its third year today, Chief Minister MK Stalin said his government would ignore criticisms and move on to serve the people. 

    The chief minister and his ministerial colleagues visited the memorials of former Chief Ministers Arignar CN Annadurai and Kalaignar M Karunanidhi on Marina and paid their respects. 

    When a scribe asked during the past two years, his government has registered many achievements while facing criticisms on a few issues, the chief minister said, “I take whatever is good and ignore whatever is bad.”

    The chief minister also said: “Before assuming office, I said, this government is for all – those who voted for this and those who did not. I also promised that this government will function in a way to make those who voted for this government happy and make those who failed to vote regret why they failed to vote for this government. This government’s functioning continues on this line.”

    Later, the chief minister visited the residence of his father and former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at Gopalapuram and paid homage to the portrait of Karunanidhi and received the blessings of his mother Dayalu Ammal.  The chief minister who is also the DMK president is scheduled to visit the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam to meet the party functionaries and cadre.  

    The chief minister will also be inaugurating the AVM Heritage Museum and the AVM Studios, one of the oldest and most active film production houses in the country. 

    On Sunday evening, the chief minister is addressing a public meeting at Pallavaram on the achievements of the DMK government for the past two years.

    Rampur, JNN. Aale Hasan Khan, who was the CO City in the SP government, has been arrested by the Azimnagar police. He is named in many cases along with Azam Khan. Ale Hasan has been counted among the close officers of Samajwadi Party General Secretary Azam Khan during his posting. Whenever there was SP government in the state, Ale Hasan Khan’s posting remained in Rampur only.

    When he was an Inspector, he was made the Civil Lines Kotwal. On promotion, he was made CO City. After retirement, Azam Khan made him the security officer in his Jauhar University. In the year 2019, cases were filed against Azam Khan by 26 farmers of Aliyaganj village at Azimnagar police station. In which Azam Khan is accused of forcibly occupying the land of the villagers and merging it with Johar University.

    The name of retired CO Ale Hasan Khan is also included in these cases. There is an allegation against him that he had forcibly picked up the farmers from their homes and put them in lock-up for Azam Khan. After beating, their lands were deeded in the name of Johar University without giving any compensation. In many cases there were arrest warrants against him.

    Former Kerala legislator, academic Nabeesa Ummal dies at 92

    Nabeesa Ummal, an academic, former Left-backed legislator and first Muslim woman post-graduate in Malayalam language, died in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday due to age-related ailments. She was 92.

    Nabeesa, an icon of women empowerment, won election as a CPI(M)-backed independent candidate from Kazhakootam Assembly segment near Thiruvananthapuram in 1987.

    Before venturing into politics, Nabeesa taught in various colleges in a career spanning 33 years. Among her various achievements, she was also the first Malayalam scholar after legendary poet-scholar A R Raja Raja Varma to become the head of the Malayalam department and later the principal of University College in Thiruvananthapuram.

    Nabeesa was born in 1931 to Asanummal and Khader Moideen, a police constable. Of the five daughters of the couple, only Nabeesa pursued higher education. She got her surname from her mother Asanummal during her school days.

    Nabeesa got married to a soldier, Hussain Kunju, when she was a pre-university student. Muslim girls pursuing education after marriage was rare those days. But, Nabeesa, an avid reader since childhood, was determined to buck the trend. With the support of her husband, Nabeesa went on to become the first Muslim woman to earn a post-graduation degree in Malayalam.

    Nabeesa started her career as a junior lecturer at Government Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram.  As an eminent college teacher, Nabeesa taught in as many as seven prominent institutions in Kerala. She retired from service in 1986.

    She also emerged as an orator and a Muslim woman face in the state’s cultural and academic fields. She was a regular speaker at events addressed by then CPI(M) stalwarts E M S Namboodiripad and E K Nayanar.

    In 1986, when the Congress-led government at the Centre passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act to bypass the 1985 Supreme court Shah Bano verdict, the CPI(M) in Kerala launched a massive campaign for the rights of women and brought in Nabeesa to raise the voice for Muslim women. That was the stepping stone for the retired college principal into politics. At the behest of EMS, the CPI(M) handpicked Nabeesa as a party-backed candidate for Kazhakkoottam Assembly election in 1987. She defeated the Congress-led UDF candidate and became a legislator.

    Although Nabeesa lost the Assembly election in 1991, she contested the local body polls of 1995 and became the chairperson of Nedumangad municipality, her hometown. In 2000, she bagged the President’s recognition for women empowerment.

    Condoling her death, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said her contribution to public service and education will be long remembered. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Nabeesa had been a beloved teacher of several students in various government colleges across the state. Hailing her various contributions, the CM also recalled that she was a “Left sympathiser”.

    Wrestlers are hoping that khap mahapanchayat will help in getting more support for them in their fight against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
    As khap panchayat leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana are marching to Jantar Mantar on Sunday to extend support to the protesting wrestlers, the Delhi Police has beefed up the security at the protest venue and at borders. India’s top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat, are protesting for the last two weeks, demanding the sacking of Wrestling Federation of India president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan and his arrest over charges of alleged sexual harassment of female grapplers.

    Top points on khap mahapanchayat in Delhi:

    1. The protesting wrestlers are hoping that the khap mahapanchayat will be of huge success and will help in getting more support for them in their fight against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
    2. The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU-Tikait) have also extended support to the agitation and threatened to lay a siege to New Delhi, along with the khap leaders, if the MP was not arrested within one week, The Indian Express reported.
    3. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait is likely to be present. He tweeted a video announcing that khap leaders will hold a panchayat at the protest site to decide the course of the protest.
    4. Additional deployments will be made and areas near Jantar Mantar will be barricaded, some reports indicated. Delhi Police officials said there was no specific security plans for the candlelight march, but said tractors and slow-moving vehicles trying to enter the border would not be allowed and precautions will be taken to maintain peace and order.
    5. Vinesh Phogat urged the supporters to be peaceful on Sunday so that bad elements do not hijack the protest. She also requested the police not to stop their supporters.
    6. Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia has appealed to the countrymen to observe a candlelight march on Sunday to show solidarity with the protesting wrestlers. Punia said the two committees formed on Saturday have the full authority to decide their future course of action.
    7. Another Olympic medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik said they are yet to decide the future course of action as their lawyers are still working on it. She also said sports minister Anurag Thakur was yet to approach them. “He already knows our demands, so it doesn’t make sense to meet him again. If he wants to talk to us, we will definitely talk,” Malik told reporters.
    8. Subhash Baliyan, Sarv Khap general secretary, said around a dozen khap panchayats have decided to join the wrestlers in their protest and will remain with them till their demand is fulfilled.

    Bhubaneswar: In another case of love-sex-betrayal a woman has filed a complaint at Saheed Nagar Police Station in the capital city of Odisha on Saturday. She has alleged that her lover boy made physical relations with her and later ditched her.

    The victim girl is said to be from Madhusudan Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.

    As per the complaint, the boy from Nayagarh district and the complainant girl developed a love relationship after getting known to each other on the social media platform. The boy then made physical relationship with her with a promise for marriage. However, he did not keep his promise and abandoned the girl, said the FIR.

    The woman lodged an FIR and sought justice in this matter. She said that now, neither the boy nor his family members are paying heed to the request of the girl and hence she has lodged an FIR with the Police.
