    DGP holds review meeting on upcoming G20 Agriculture Ministers’ meeting

    Hyderabad: State Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar emphasises the need for seamless coordination among departments to ensure the successful organisation of the prestigious G-20 Agriculture Ministers’ meeting which is scheduled to take place from June 15 to 17 in the city. On Thursday, a security coordination meeting was conducted at the DGP’s office, bringing together various departments to discuss security arrangements and event management for the G-20 Agriculture Ministers’ meeting.

    Attendees at the meeting included Additional DGs Abhilash Bist, Vijay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Cyberabad Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, GAD Director Arvinder Singh, and officials from NSG, IB, Passport, Customs, Fire, Agriculture, and Culture Departments.

    DGP Anjani Kumar emphasised the significance of ensuring comprehensive security measures for the three-day meeting in Hyderabad. He highlighted that a large number of ministers, high-ranking officials, government secretaries, and renowned scientists from various countries would be in attendance, necessitating appropriate security arrangements. The Shamshabad Airport is being prepared to welcome both national and foreign delegates attending the meeting.

    The DGP also stated that the opportunity to showcase Hyderabad as a leading hi-tech city during the meetings. The central organizations involved were advised to prioritise cyber security, and a dedicated multi-agency command control room has been established to monitor security-related matters. Additionally, the Director of the Culture Department, Harikrishna, mentioned that over 300 artists are organising special exhibitions to introduce the cultural art forms of Telangana to the G-20 meeting.

    Chennai (IANS) | Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) C. Silendrababu on Monday ordered a crackdown on bootlegs selling bootleg liquor after 12 people died of spurious liquor in two separate incidents over the weekend. The DGP has directed Villupuram district superintendent of police, Chengalpattu city police commissioner and Prohibition and Enforcement Wing (PEW) officials to conduct raids on spurious liquor vends.

    Fatalities were reported from Villupuram and Chengalpattu.

    Police are of the opinion that the victims may have consumed illicit liquor mixed with industrial alcohol, which contains methanol.

    According to the police, in Villupuram, preliminary investigation revealed that the victims had consumed spurious liquor or local liquor, while those who died and were hospitalized in Chengalpattu had consumed industrial liquor.

    Police arrested Amaran (27) for supplying spurious liquor in Villupuram district, while Ammavasai (40) was caught in Chengalpattu for selling mixed industrial liquor to people.

    Seven policemen have been suspended.

    Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has already announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those hospitalised.

    About 50 percent accidents are happening in three commissionerates: DGP

    Hyderabad: Nearly 50 per cent of the road accidents have been occurring in three police commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda in the State, said State DGP Anjani Kumar.

    According to the official data, 16 percent of the total road accidents in the state were occurring in Cyberabad, 16 in Rachakonda and 12 in Hyderabad. Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Narayan Pet and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district reported less road accidents.

    State DGP Anjani Kumar disclosed the details of the road accidents in a video conference with district police officials on Thursday. The DGP appreciated Mulugu district for achieving good results in reducing road accidents by 47 percent and deaths by 63 percent. The DGP congratulated the district SPs for taking steps to reduce road accidents.

    The hot spots of frequent road accidents have already been identified and appropriate preventive measures will be taken in those accident prone areas in coordination with the officials of the concerned departments. Anjani Kumar asked the officials review to the performance of 108 vehicles apart from regularly reviewing the areas where road accidents occur in their jurisdiction.

    District Collectors, officials of relevant departments including Roads and Buildings have been asked to take measures to prevent road accidents in coordination with voluntary organizations.

    The DGP also announced that the Road Safety Committees will be constituted in all villages as part of road accident prevention measures in the state. The number of people who died in road accidents was higher than any other crime. To prevent road accidents and follow the road safety rules and regulations, special committees will be formed at the village level to create awareness among people on a large scale.

    Retired teachers and women representatives of voluntary organisations will be appointed as members in this committee. He added that the construction of roads in the state has increased significantly and at the same time the number of road accidents and deaths have also increased.

    Additional DG of Road Safety Department Shivdhar Reddy said that the number of road accidents and deaths have decreased significantly in the first three months of 2023 as compared to the years 2021 and 2022. He said that 1,602 hot spots with the possibility of accidents have been identified on 29,583 km road stretch in the state. All drivers above 45 years of age should be given eye tests in the ongoing KantiVelugu programme. Road accidents mostly occur between 6 am and 9 am and between 3 pm and 5 pm.

    DGP rewards Tiruvallur SI for urging parents to send wards to school

    CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu DGP (Director General of Police), C Sylendra Babu on Tuesday appreciated sub-inspector, M Paramasivam who visited a village and appealed to the families to send their children to school, a week ago.

    A video of the incident went viral after which Chief Minister M K Stalin too took to Twitter and extended his appreciation to the SI.

    The Sub-Inspector, attached to the Pennalurpet Police station went to a village in his jurisdiction after staff of a government school informed police that students have not been turning up at school and for the examinations, police sources said.

    The Sub-Inspector accompanied by an education department staff went to the village. In a video that has now become viral, the sub-inspector was seen appealing to the families to approach him personally if they need help. “Whatever the issue may be – school fee, food or domestic complaints, you are free to approach me at the police station,” Paramasivam told the women in the village. “Do only one favour for me in return. Send these children to school. When they grow up and realise the ground realities, they are going to pose some hard questions to you (parents) for not sending them to school,” Paramasivam said.

    The police official explained about the government schemes that encourage child education and pointed out that healthy food including eggs are provided to children at school.

    “If you do not send them to school, parents can be treated as accused. Even Criminals can be spared. I will apprehend him/her later. This (not sending children to school is not constructive to the society. So, don’t believe in superstitions and send the children to school,” the Sub Inspector told the villagers.

    The DGP also issued a cash reward to sub inspector Paramasivam, apart from a certificate of appreciation.

    DGP holds meeting regarding traffic management of Chardham Yatra

    State Director General of Police Ashok Kumar today held a meeting regarding traffic management of Chardham Yatra at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh. Police officers from Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts attended the meeting. The Director General of Police has identified the bottlenecks in Rishikesh, Munikireti and Laxmanjhula areas, which are becoming a hindrance in the smooth operation of traffic, and asked them to submit a report in three days. Apart from appointing a traffic inspector in Rishikesh area and a sub-inspector in Laxmanjhula area, the evacuation of all vehicles on weekends will be diverted from Garudchatti Marg towards Haridwar via Chilla Marg.
    It was decided in the meeting that from every Friday afternoon, the outstation vehicles coming to Rishikesh would be sent from Nepali Farm to Bhaniawala, Ranipokhari to Indramani Badoni Chowk to the hilly area. Vehicles will not be allowed to come from Haridwar towards Rishikesh and Laxmanjhula via Chilla Marg. In the meeting, the DGP also gave instructions to mark temporary parking places in view of the Chardham Yatra.
