Ambikapur. On the report of a woman resident of Salka in Bhatgaon area, the police have registered a case of dowry harassment against her husband and mother-in-law. Police said that Alka Gupta filed a case that she was married to Madhushudan Gupta, 27, on May 18, 2019, at village Jamdi Shiv Mandir.
After marriage, husband Madhushudan Gupta and mother-in-law Urmila Gupta harass her mentally and physically by demanding five lakh rupees in dowry. They say that after selling the farm land from your father, bring 5 lakh rupees in dowry from your maternal home, only then you will be kept. The woman says that she told those people that my parents do not have that much money and farm-land. I have three more sisters left for marriage, will not be able to arrange so much money. On saying this, those people started torturing him even more.

Woman Allegedly Strangled To Death By In-laws Over Dowry In UP’s Badaun
A 20-year-old newly married woman was strangled to death allegedly by her in-laws over dowry in Paiga-Bhikampur village here, police said Friday.
The in-laws have been absconding since the incident and a hunt is on to round them in, police said.
According to police, Renu, a resident of Lahori village of Bisharatganj Police Station in Bareilly district, was married about nine months ago to Vikesh, a resident of village Paiga-Bhikampur of Bisauli.
The relatives of the victim in their complaint to police said Vikesh and his family members had been torturing Renu for dowry and strangled her on Thursday.
