  • Faridabad to get underpasses, U-turns like Gurugram

    Promising a Gurugram-like road infrastructure for Faridabad, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said the city would soon be connected with underpasses and U-turns.

    Promising a seamless mobility for Old, New and Greater Faridabad, Khattar while presiding over the meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Committee, said the city would have mobility design inspired by Millennium City Gurugram.

    “We are working on a master plan. Faridabad would get underpasses, U-turns, foot overbridges elevated roads etc which will eliminate the issue of traffic congestion,” said Khattar while responding to a complainant who raised the issue to massive traffic congestion in the city. The CM, in addition to this, also announced the construction of a Mini Secretariat with state-of-the-art facilities in Badkhal. He further assured to allocate Rs 100 crore to the Municipal Corporation’s account by tomorrow to pace the development works of the city.

    The CM said no stone would be left unturned to pace the development works of Faridabad. The CM stated that every effort would be made to speed up Faridabad’s development. He said any development projects presented to him for the benefit of the general public would be given first consideration.

    Hearing another complainant, the CM stated that 13 hydraulic platform machines were being purchased by the government to handle any emergency situation in multi-storeyed buildings. The entire process would be completed soon, he added. A total of 15 complaints were placed before the Chief Minister at the meeting, out of which 13 complaints were settled on the spot.

  • Faridabad, Palwal set to be connected by Metro: Haryana CM

    In what is going to boost the Metro connectivity further in the NCR, Faridabad will now be connected to Palwal by the Metro network.

    The declaration was made Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who was addressing Gauravshali Bharat Rally at Gajpuri village in Palwal today.

    Khattar said the state government had already given approval to the Metro connectivity from Ballabgarh to Palwal.

    “The connectivity will change the facet of Palwal and provide the much-required boost to development projects here. The Central and state governments are taking remarkable steps towards ensuring inclusive development. Big projects like Metro and national highways are coming up in Haryana with the help of the Central Government. Our government has made unprecedented development in the Palwal and Faridabad regions. With the coming of many major state highways, better connectivity has been facilitated,” said Khattar. The CM added that the day was also remembered for the dark ages of Emergency announced this day by the Congress. The rally was coordinated by Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gujjar, who said this was the celebration of nine years of development and transformation for the region.

    “India has made a different identity on the global stage under PM Modi. Unmatched progress has been achieved by the whole country during the past nine years. Haryana is setting new records of development in education, health and security and better infrastructure development is taking place in the country and the state,” said Gujjar.

    Faridabad. In Chawla Colony of Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, a house exploded while filling gas from a big gas cylinder to another cylinder. Seven people, including five children, got scorched due to the explosion of a gas cylinder. Of these, four children have been sent to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi in critical condition. Others have been admitted to private hospitals in the city.

    Outpost in-charge Chamanlal of Chawla Colony told that there is a shop in Sonu Thakur’s house itself, which is run by Rajesh. On Monday late evening, gas was being filled from one gas cylinder to another. During this suddenly the cylinder exploded. Seven people including five children were injured due to cylinder blast. Among the injured are Umesh Poddar (73), who reached the shop to get food items for his grandsons Manav and Jiyash. Apart from this, shopkeeper Rajesh and other children playing there got burnt.

    Immediately after the accident, social workers Vinod Goswami, Krishna Goswami and others reached the spot and took the scorched children and people to Ballabhgarh Hospital by car. Soon after getting information about this, Station City Incharge Satish Kumar and Chawla Colony Police Outpost Incharge Chaman Lal reached the spot along with the police force. According to the police, four-year-old Manav, three-year-old Jiyash, 11-year-old Chhavi, nine-year-old Amra have been referred to Delhi Safdarjung in critical condition. Apart from this, eight-year-old Abdullah, 25-year-old Rajesh, Umesh Poddar have been admitted to the local hospital. Outpost incharge Chamanlal says that investigation has been started in the matter. Action will be taken according to the negligence that will come to the fore.

    A police team raided a hookah bar run in the NIT area of the city here today evening. As many as 16 youths, including some girls, were found smoking hookah allegedly with some banned material. They have been nabbed and sent to police custody, it is reported.

    Sources in the police department said that the raid was carried out on the basis of inputs that there was a hookah bar being run there for some time. It is revealed that several youths were found smoking hookah when the police team reached Down Town Café in the city’s NIT zone. Claiming that the charcoal used in the hookah was poisonous in nature, an official said that a sample will be sent to the laboratory for test.

    Drugs worth Rs 80 lakh seized in Faridabad, 2 arrested

    The crime branch of the local police has recovered 606 grams of banned smack. Two people have been arrested in this connection.
    According to a police official, one of the accused, identified as Kuldeep, a resident of Rohtak district, was arrested from Sector-58 here on April 14 with drugs. The market value of the seized drug is around Rs 80 lakh. During his three-day police remand, Kuldeep revealed that he had procured the drugs from one Ram Babu, a resident of Shahjahanpur district in UP, who lived in Bareilly. Ram Babu was arrested on Sunday.
    It is alleged that Kuldeep used to order narcotics from Ram Babu, who runs a grocery shop in Bareilly, and sell it further in Delhi and some parts of NCR. Kuldeep was sent to judicial custody on Monday. A case has been registered against both of them under the NDPS Act.

    An 18-year-old Class XII student was stabbed to death while he was sleeping in his house in Sanjay colony here, the police said on Tuesday.

    The younger brother of the victim, on hearing his screams, woke up and tried to chase the assailant.

    The police conducted the post-mortem and handed over the body to his family. The post-mortem revealed he was stabbed five times in the chest.

    “I reached home and took Vishal to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. My son had an altercation with a youth a few days ago who lives in the same colony,” said vicitm’s father Bhagat.
