    Farmers will benefit from sugarcane price, urea subsidy: Subhash

    Hyderabad: State BJP official spokesperson N V Subhash on Thursday asserted that the Modi government is committed to improve economic conditions of farmers across the country.

    Welcoming the government’s decision to continue the subsidy on urea and announcement of remunerative price for sugarcane farmers, he said they would help improve their economic conditions.

    The Centre has approved fair and remunerative price of sugarcane payable by sugar mills to farmers for sugar season 2023-24.

    The government has fixed highest ever fair and remunerative price of Rs 315/quital for sugarcane farmers, he said, adding that farmers in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal and Adilabad districts would benefit with the decision. Kamareddy region is known for its sugarcane production; around 70 per cent of farmers cultivate this crop, Subhash said.

    The Centre also approved to continue subsidy on urea for three more years to boost wellbeing of farmers, rejuvenate soil productivity and ensure food security and environment subsidy, the BJP leader said.

    Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced that it will provide free crop insurance to all farmers in the state for the next three years. Odisha is the first state in the country to provide free crop insurance to farmers.

    Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare of Odisha Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak made the announcement after a review of his department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

    As many as 1,451 new Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) have been formed to further extend short-term loans to the farmers

    The Department would bear the premium of the insurance from the 2023 Kharif season to the 2025-26 Rabi season. Short terms agriculture loans are being provided at low interest rates to the farmers.

    Furthermore, the state government has increased the interest-free loan cap from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Under the scheme, more than 7 lakh small and marginal farmers have been provided loans, amounting to Rs 16,683.57 crore during the 2022-23 financial year, the Minister informed.

    Vijayawada : BJP State president Somu Veerraju came down heavily on the YSRCP government alleging that the latter had failed to provide support price to the farmers for their produce.

    He said the Rythu Bharosa Kendrams launched by the State government changed into ‘farmers’ looting centres’ where the farmers were being exploited by the government. Veerraju has addressed the State executive meeting of the party organised in Gannavaram on Friday.

    Senior BJP leaders like Daggubati Purandeswari, GVL Narasimha Rao and others attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Veerraju said the State BJP had filed charge-sheets in 143 Assembly constituencies and would file the charge-sheets at the district level and the State-level soon in a phased manner.

    Referring to the farmers’ problems, the BJP leader criticised the State government for its failure to distribute gunny bags to the paddy farmers.

    He alleged that the YSRCP government had indulged in Rs 1,000 crore rice recycling scam. He said the State government failed to provide insurance to the farmers.

    Referring to the housing scheme in the State, the BJP State president said the government has claimed that it had constructed seven lakh houses in the State. He asked to whom the government has distributed the houses.

    He alleged large-scale corruption in purchase of lands for the distribution of house sites to the poor in the State. He demanded that the government immediately hand over TIDCO houses to the beneficiaries. Veerraju said the BJP would file charge-sheets targeting the MLAs in the State.

    He said the BJP cadre would campaign in the State on the developmental projects and welfare schemes being implemented by PM Modi from May 30 to June 30.

    BJP national general secretary Daggubati Purandeswari has described the YSRCP government in the State as anti-people’s government and it has failed on all fronts. She said that the BJP would expose the State government by distributing the copies of charge-sheet right from the gross-root level.

    She said the BJP launched the charge-sheets filing programme against the government in the State to mark the completion of nine years rule by PM Narendra Modi in the country.

    She said that the BJP national leadership would take care of forging political alliances in the State.

    BJP national secretary Y Satya Kumar has said that the BJP would continue its fight against the anti-people’s policies of the YSRCP government. Addressing the party meeting, he alleged that the YSRCP government was diverting the funds released by the Union government. He criticised the government for not constructing a single TIDCO house in the State and appealed to the people to dethrone the YSRCP government. Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao, BJP State general secretary S Vishnuvardhan Reddy, other leaders and functionaries attended the meeting.

    Vempalle (YSR district): Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy said that YSRCP is committed for the development of weaker sections and farmers by introducing various welfare schemes. He said that after the YSRCP came to power in 2019 elections, it has introduced several welfare schemes by allocating funds in a big way for the benefit of both farmers and poor people.     The paddy purchased from the farmers two days ago under Mortad society was sent to the rice mill of PACS governing body. The grain bought from the farmers was sent to the millers through waybills (consignment slips) and they took it. The society staff and chairman called the farmers and said your paddy rice miller is not taking. The governing body of the society said that rice miller is asking for ‘Kadtata’. Farmers were upset when the PACS governing body said that they would invite the farmers to the society on the issue of ‘kadatha’ and impose a cash cut of 40,000 to the lorries.

    The farmers who went to the society along with the waybills expressed their anger. The farmers exposed the fraud of the governing body and rice miller.

    The farmers have accused that the treasure of the chairman and staff who are deliberately deceiving the farmers and obstructing the authority and illegally looting the farmers’ money has come to light on Saturday. From the last 3 years till now, the society chairman and the millers are colluding to loot the farmers’ money up to Rs 40,000/- per lorry load. The farmers calculated and said that since the election of the chairman of this society, about Rs 36.52 crore have been looted.

    They are demanding full recovery of the looted money so far. Farmers want to reveal total load calculations on lorry basis. He protested that till now all the farmers who have lost money should come and they will not leave the society until all the farmers who have lost money are paid. “Cooking Warpu” program was organized by the farmers. They are extorting money from every farmer in the name of “Kadata” by charging additional porter charges. Balkonda Constituency MLA, Minister Prashanth Reddy, in this area, such illegalities are happening in many societies.

    20 crore assistance for export of red onion

    On deciding to provide financial assistance of Rs. 100 per bag i.e. Rs. 2 per kg to farmers selling red onions in all APMCs of Saurashtra districts and maximum 50 bags (250 quintals) or Rs. 50 thousand to the beneficiary, an estimated Rs. 70 crore assistance will be given. On the basis of transportation assistance given earlier for red onion, it has been announced to export red onion outside other states/country to farmers/traders registered with the State Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Accordingly, in the first phase an estimated 2.00 lakh
    An assistance of Rs 20 crore has been announced for the export of metric tonnes of red onions.

    State government has decided to help

    As the market price of potato is low as a result of high production of potato, the state government has received several offers to help in this regard.     An estimated assistance amount of 20 crores will be provided

    Potato producing farmers of the state, if they collect potatoes only for eating, then at the rate of Rs. 1 per kg, they store them in cold storage from February 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023, with financial assistance of Rs. 50 per bag and a maximum of 600 bags. If so, help will be given. For this assistance, primarily about 200 crores will be provided. 50 per sack i.e. Re 1 per kilogram and maximum 600 sacks per beneficiary financial assistance is to be given for the period from February 1 to March 31, 2023, to the farmer selling potatoes in the APMC of the state. In the initial estimate, Rs 20 crore will be given for this assistance.

District Agriculture Officer (DAO) John Sudhakar explained how methane can become toxic and does not allow proper oxygen to the paddy crops if corrective measures are not taken at right time. He asked them to go for proper soil conservation methods to drastically reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. It will preserve the valuable cultivable land from becoming acidic and toxic. Agriculture extension officer Prashanti and agriculture officer Pradeep explained various novel measures to be taken by the paddy farmers for reaping better harvest. Kosher Climate representative Shravan Kumar briefed the farmers on carbon credits, effects of methane and the amount of fertilizers to be used in the paddy crop. Village sarpanch Sugandhamma, district farmer coordination leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, representative of Sow and Reap Agro Rajeshwari, president of village coordination committee Sudhakar Reddy, watershed member Vardhan, village AEO Prashanthi, MPTC Shekhar, and a number of farmers participated in the seminar.
