The information of this incident was given to the fire department. The fire brigade personnel who reached the spot have brought the fire under control with the help of the local people. It is not yet clear how the mini bus caught fire. At present, the police of the city police station has reached the spot and started investigating the whole matter. Inspector Arjun Kumar of the city police station present there has told that information was received that suddenly a bus caught fire at Kapasya Chowk.

    Ranchi: Three more passenger buses were gutted in a fire at Khadgarha bus stand located in Kantatoli, Ranchi at around 3 pm on Thursday. Earlier, five buses were gutted in the fire at 12 o’clock. Earlier, the local people and Lower Bazar police station tried to control the fire. But, they did not succeed. Again when four buses caught fire one by one, fire brigade vehicles were present on the spot. By the time the fire was doused, these buses were also burnt to ashes.

    The reasons for the fire have not been revealed yet. Agents at the bus stand say that the buses caught fire possibly due to a short circuit. However, the police probing the matter are not ruling out the possibility of a conspiracy behind it. After the fire, there was chaos among the agents, hawkers and passengers present in the bus.

    According to the officials, 24 fire engines were rushed to the spot and efforts are underway to douse the fire. The officials also mentioned that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.

    Earlier in the morning, a fire broke out in the shanties of a slum near Nargis Dutt Road in Mumbai’s Bandra area. No casualties have been reported so far.

    “Level 2 fire breaks out in the shanties of a slum near Nargis Dutt Road in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Wednesday at 4:40 am,” Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

    According to the officials, 10 fire engines were rushed to the spot and efforts are underway to douse the fire.

    CHENNAI: Tension prevailed in Chennai’s Tondiarpet as fire broke out at two godowns creating panic among people. Firefighters had to battle for two hours to put down the fire. No casualties were reported.

    A blaze suddenly emerged from the polythene bags godown, owned by Balraj of Nethaji Nagar, Tondiarpet Saturday afternoon. More than 10 female employees who were working there ran amok screaming as a plume smoke came out of the godown. By then, the fire had spread to the nearby broom godown and silverware manufacturing company, owned by Zakir and also the nearby houses.

    Subsequently, godown employees and public raised alarm.

    As a result, Chennai-North Fire Station officials Loganathan and Suriya Prakasam led more than 50 firemen from Korukuppet, Tondiarpet, Washermanpet, Royapuram fire stations including Station Officers Munuswamy, Kumar, Deiva Narayanan and more than 50 firemen arrived in 4 fire engines. They tried to put out the fire. Due to shortage of water, they pressed drinking water trucks into service and doused the blaze in 2 hours.

    MLA Ebenezer, Tondiarpet Zonal Committee Chairman Netaji Ganesan, North Chennai Madhavaram Kotaksar Ranganathan and Tahsildar personally visited and inspected. The RK Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the fire.

    Four people scorched due to fire in steel factory

    Four workers were injured in a fire mishap at a factory of a steel manufacturing company in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Monday morning.

    Though repeated calls on the official and personal number of Giridih deputy commissioner Naman Priyesh Lakra failed to get response, superintendent of police Giridih Amit Renu confirmed the incident.

    “The incident happened on Monday morning. For details you can contact the local police station officials who are monitoring the situation,” said Amit Renu.

    Giridih Muffasil police station officer-in-charge Kamlesh Paswan said four workers in the factory sustained burn injuries.

    “While one injured person has been referred to the burn hospital at Bokaro remaining three workers are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Giridih itself. The factory inspector Giridih has been apprised of the incident and will be carrying out a detailed investigation into the exact cause of the incident.

    “Things can be ascertained only after a probe by the factory inspector. The factory management has agreed to bear the treatment expense of the injured workers,” said Paswan.

    Sources in Giridih informed that the mishap took place in Satyam factory of Shivam Steel Company at around 10.30am on Monday.

    “Due to a short circuit fire erupted in a vehicle carrying iron ladle at Ajidih-Udanabad under Mufassil police station. Overa dozen labourers were carrying iron ladle when the ladlecar caught fire. Four workers were injured. Bablu Kumar, a labourer from Bihar has been critically injured in the mishap,” said a source.

    Officials at the factory rushed the injured workers to the Vishwanath Nursing Home from where Bablu Kumar from Bihar was referred to a hospital in Bokaro.
