    Four including two teenagers arrested for snatching

    Four persons, including two juveniles, have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for snatching a mobile phone and cash from a person.

    Complainant Shakil Ahmed, a resident of Mauli Complex, had alleged that on May 22, while he was returning from work, some suspects stopped him near the community centre at Mauli Complex and snatched his mobile phone and Rs 500 in cash. The suspects then fled the scene. The police were informed about the incident and a case was registered.

    During investigation, suspects Tushar (18) and Rohit (19), both residents of Rajiv Colony, Sector 17, Panchkula, along with two juveniles, aged 16 and 17 years, were nabbed. The snatched mobile phone was recovered from them.

    The police said the 17-year-old juvenile had a criminal past. He was booked in a case of robbery in October 2022 and under the Arms Act in April this year at Mauli Jagran police station.

    New Delhi: The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Sunday said four persons have been arrested for duping people on the pretext of sending them abroad. The police have found that Mexico and El Salvador-based agents were also working for the gang, and seized 80 passports.

    The gang charged Rs six lakh for Schengen Visa, (valid in 27 countries).

    For illegal entry in the US through the Mexico border, they used to charge around Rs 27 Lakh per person.

    The police have recovered 80 passports of various countries and forged documents from their possession.

    The accused were identified as Girish Bhandari (48), Himanshu Mehta (23), Gagan Sharma (22) and Ramesh Arya (38).

    The police said that they had been working on the gang for a long time. Bhandari is believed to be the mastermind of the gang.

    “We conducted a raid in Tilak Nagar, Delhi and apprehended the four accused. We learnt that the accused persons were running the crime syndicate in the garb of Tour & Travel Business. The accused have agents in NCR,” the official said.

    The police said that the interrogation of the accused has revealed that they have been operating the illegal racket for the past 10 to 12 years.

    The Police said that the network was spread in several states, including Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat. The members of the racket were using highly encrypted applications for communications and to facilitate their illegal business.

    The Khanna police today arrested three persons and seized 40 gm of heroin from their possession. In another incident, a woman was nabbed with heroin by the Ludhiana police.

    The suspects have been identified as Karanvir Singh, Amandeep Singh and Pardeep Singh, all residents of Dhamot Kalan village, near Payal. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspects.

    Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Payal, Harsimrat Chetra, in a statement issued said acting on a tip-off, the Doraha police laid a naka at a strategic place in Doraha where a Maruti Swift car (bearing registration no. PB10CP3695) was intercepted. During the checking of the vehicle, 40 gm of heroin was found kept in a polythene bag.

    The DSP said the suspects were on the way to deliver heroin to their clients. Now, their police remand would be sought from court so that the entire drug smuggling network could be busted.

    In the other incident, the Ludhiana police on Tuesday arrested a woman and seized 80 gm of heroin from her. She has been identified as Neelam of Ekta Marg, Shimlapuri.

    ADCP Rupinder Sran in a statement issued said officials of the anti-narcotics cell of the city police had received a tip-off that the woman was into the drug smuggling trade and she was on the way to deliver heroin to her clients. The police laid a trap and nabbed her along with heroin from a strategic point.

    A case under the NDPS Act was registered.

    Ranchi (IANS) | Three children from Jharkhand, who were sold in Himachal Pradesh in the name of providing work, have been freed by the Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the police. These children were taken from Latehar in Jharkhand to Shimla and other places. Last month also six such children were freed. Four people have also been arrested in this case. The four arrested people are from Jharkhand and they have created a network of trafficking of children from poor families by luring them. The in-charge of Anti Human Trafficking Unit said that on the statement of Latehar resident Sakaldev Pasi, an FIR was registered on February 3. It was told in this that a total of nine children of the district have been sold by taking them to Himachal Pradesh. For this poor families were given the lure of money. Based on this complaint, last month the police team went to Himachal Pradesh and rescued six children from different areas. The identity of the three children was not known. After investigation and interrogation of various people, the police have now recovered them safely. All the children have been handed over to their parents.

    The four accused who have been arrested in this case are Indrajit Singh, Kamlesh Yadav, Anita Devi, residents of Satbarwa in Palamu district and Sampatiya Kunwar, residents of Garu police station area of Latehar district.

    Four arrested for betting on IPL matches

    A crime branch team of the local police arrested four individuals for allegedly betting on the ongoing IPL T20 cricket matches from a house in Sector 19.

    The accused, identified as Nishant, Manoj, Ritesh and Sunil, were nabbed from the spot after a raid conducted on the basis of a tip-off. It was found that the accused, who are local residents, were placing online bets during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings.

    It is claimed that the operators bet on each ball, each over, player, bowler and even on the decision of the umpire in live matches.

    In addition to seizing Rs 48,000 cash, the police confiscate 14 mobile phones and two laptops from the spot. The accused had allegedly downloaded an application of the British betting company Betfair on their laptops and were handling calls on the mobile equipment attached to them. Following an investigation, a case was registered against the accused under the Gambling Act.

    The Una police arrested four persons and seized heroin from their possession in two incidents yesterday.

    SP Arijit Sen Thakur said that a police party was on duty at Pandoga village near the inter-state border late last evening when two persons were seen speeding on a motorcycle from the Punjab side.

    On seeing the police, the motorcyclists tried to turn back, but were intercepted by the police. During search, 5.17 grams of heroin was seized from their possession. The two accused have been identified as Rajan Saini of Bhadsali village in Una district and Daljeet Singh of Guru Nanak Dev Nagar in Ludhiana.

    In another incident, the Pandoga police party spotted two persons sitting in front of a closed shop late last night. The police team found 5.44 grams of heroin in their possession after it grew suspicious and searched the duo. Both the accused hail from Hamirpur district – Aman Kumar from Dadoh village and Sandeep Kumar from Tippar village.
