    Gajapati: A temporary bridge was washed away due to incessant rain near Bandhaguda of Mohana block in Gajapati district.

    As the water level in the Hariabhanga river has risen, the temporary bridge washed away and vehicular communication with the three villages have been cut off. People are in a state of panic mode due to collapse of bridge and the entire village is flooded due to the river water.

    According to reports, the villagers had built a temporary bridge on river Haribhanga and people of three villages depended on the wooden pole. Due to continous rainfall, the pole was washed away.

    The villagers are crossing the river in dangerous condition, while some are crossing on dry trunks. The people of Limbada, Mathakupa and Bijapur are demanding for an alternative solution

    Gajapati: Lakhs worth ganja seized from passenger bus; 2 arrested

    Gajapati: Over 23 kilograms of ganja worth lakhs has been seized from a private bus by Gajapati police in the Adaba area of the district on Saturday. The police have also arrested two people involved in the transportation of the cannabis.

    According to reports, police received information about the transportation of contraband products from reliable sources. Working on the tip of the information, the police led a search operation on the bus at Adaba. During the search, they found 23 kg of 900 grams of cannabis in two bags. The cops seized the contraband and arrested two men who were transporting ganja. As per the police officer’s statement, the cannabis was being transported to Berhampur.

    The police also detained the bus driver and conductor along with the bus. The passengers were sent to their respective destinations by other buses.

    The cops have arrested the two people involved in the transportation of ganja. They have also initiated a probe into the matter.

    Child dies after consuming expired medicine in Odisha’s Gajapati

    Gajapati: An 11-month-old child died after consuming expired medicine allegedly given by the Anganwadi center in Jajpur village of Odisha’s Gajapati district.

    According to reports, the deceased fell ill after consuming expired medicines supplied by the Anganwadi center in the village on April 11. He was cured after the treatment, and a few days later he became serious again.

    The parents of the minor took the baby to several hospitals including Parlakhemundi district headquarters hospital (DHH), a Vishakhapatnam-based hospital, AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, and Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack. But their all efforts went in vain.

    He breathed his last night while undergoing treatment at the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.

    Demanding action against the Anganwadi worker and ASHA activist, the villagers and family members blocked the road, disrupting the traffic between Parlakhemundi and Mohana on Tuesday morning.

    The family members of the child have filed a complaint at the local police station. Based on the complaint, the cops have launched a probe into the matter.
