    The employees of the Forest Department are trying to keep these elephants away from the human population by keeping an eye on them. Along with this, the local villagers are reaching very close to these elephants in order to drive them away from their homes and crops. These elephants have been living in the forests of Marwahi for almost two months.

A herd of five elephants has reached Naka village of Marwahi forest division via Pasan area of Korba district. On the other hand, an atmosphere of panic has been created in the surrounding area due to the arrival of elephants in the village. It has become a source of trouble for the farmers. At the same time, the summer crops in the fields of 2 farmers have been damaged. Due to which the farmers are worried. Risking their lives, the villagers are trying to drive away the elephants. The team of elephants is being monitored by the employees of the forest department.

    Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi: “I have got a pucca house under the government’s scheme, I never thought my dream would come true,” said Kailash, a resident of Gullidand Gram Panchayat, who is a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The village is located 50 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Gaurela. Kailash, who is completely visually impaired, used to live in a dilapidated hut. “I can neither see with both eyes nor can I do anything,” Kailash says adding that “All thanks to the Government that provides me with rice for food and also gives me a pension. Now, I have also received a beautiful pucca house to live in.”

    “I never thought that I would be able to have a pucca house in my life, but the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) has made my dreams come true. Under this scheme, I was able to build a beautiful house with the financial assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh received under the scheme and earning wages from MNREGA”, he said. He added that he has also got a toilet built in the house under Swachh Bharat Mission. He said that he and his family are leading a happy life availing the benefits of various schemes.”
