    Odisha government increased DA of employees by 4 percent

    Bhubaneswar (IANS) | The Odisha government has announced a 4 per cent hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. This will be applicable from January 1. With the latest hike, the DA of government employees has increased from 38 per cent to 42 per cent. Employees will get the increased DA in cash in the salary of the current month (June).

    The government has also increased the dearness relief to pensioners by 4 per cent. They will also get enhanced relief in the current month’s pension.

    The move will benefit all regular employees and pensioners, who number 7.5 lakh in the state.

    Death toll in train accident 275: Odisha government

    Bhubaneswar (IANS) | Odisha government on Sunday said that the death toll in the triple train accident at Bahnaga station in Balasore is 275. Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena said some bodies were counted twice at the crash site and in hospitals. The final death toll after proper counting is 275. He said that out of 275 bodies, 78 bodies have been identified and handed over to their family members after postmortem. The process of handing over 10 more bodies is underway, he said.

    Jena said that out of the remaining 187 bodies, 170 bodies have been brought to Bhubaneswar, while another 17 bodies are being brought to the capital from Balasore.

    The dead bodies have been brought to various crematoriums in Bhubaneswar in a dignified manner in 85 ambulances. He said that only two bodies were brought in each ambulance.

    Chief Secretary said that the biggest challenge before the government is to identify the dead bodies, we have uploaded the pictures of the dead bodies on the websites. If anyone can identify the body of his family member, he can contact on helpline number 18003450061/1929 (24A-7).

    Photos of the dead bodies and lists of the injured have been uploaded on the websites.

    He informed that the government has also taken steps to provide death certificates to the family members of the deceased persons in a hassle free manner.

    As many as 1,175 patients were admitted to various hospitals, out of which 793 have been discharged. The condition of most of the injured patients is stable. 382 passengers are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals.

    Odisha government will run free bus service till Kolkata for stranded passengers in the state

    Bhubaneswar (IANS) | The Odisha government on Sunday announced free bus service from three cities of the state to Kolkata to facilitate smooth transportation of passengers stranded in the state due to the train accident in Balasore, Odisha. Due to disruption of normal train services to Kolkata due to Bahnaga train accident, people are facing a lot of problems in reaching Kolkata.

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced free bus service from Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to Kolkata from Sunday for the stranded passengers in the state, the Chief Minister’s Office said. This arrangement will continue till normal train service is restored on the Balasore route.

    It may be mentioned that around 50 buses will leave for Kolkata daily from three cities of Odisha, the Chief Minister’s Office said. The entire cost will be borne from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

    Odisha government approves five industrial projects worth Rs 35,760 crore

    Bhubaneswar (IANS)| A day after approving six investment proposals worth Rs 854.17 crore, the Odisha government on Saturday approved five more mega industrial projects, bringing in an investment of Rs 35,760 crore in the state. The High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has cleared projects that will create over 38,100 job opportunities in Odisha.

    The approved projects will be set up in Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur and Keonjhar districts. HLCA has cleared two projects in steel sector, one each in green energy and equipment, chemical sector and technical textile sector.

    The government has approved Vari Energies Ltd’s proposal to set up an integrated solar equipment manufacturing complex with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore.

    It will set up a manufacturing unit at Neulopoi, Dhenkanal with a capacity of 50,000 MT of polysilicon, 10,000 MW each for ingots, wafers, solar cells and solar modules.

    An official said that such a manufacturing facility is the largest in eastern India which will develop an ecosystem for further investment in the region.

    Similarly, the HLCA has approved the proposal of Super Smelters Limited to set up an integrated steel plant of 1.8 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) in Keonjhar district with a promised investment of Rs 5,436.10 crore.

    Another steel sector project proposed by Kashvi Power and Steel Pvt Ltd has also got the government’s nod. The company will set up an integrated steel plant at Kalipal in Keonjhar district with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore.

    In the technical textiles sector, the Odisha government has approved a Rs 2,223.25 crore project by MCPI Pvt Ltd.

    The authority has approved the proposal of IVL Dhanseri Petrochem Industries Limited to set up bottle grade PET resin at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore.
