    Harish Rao highlights Telangana’s progress in healthcare

    Hyderabad: Health Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday said that Telangana has made substantial progress in the national health sector rankings moving from the 11th position to the top 3 in the country.

    The Minister participated in a programme organised by the Indian Medical Association here on Sunday. The event was aimed to honouring dedicated healthcare professionals and celebrate their significant contributions to society. Expressing his heartfelt appreciation, the Minister said that the noble nature of the medical profession, comparing doctors’ role to that of soldiers safeguarding the country and farmers providing sustenance. The minister acknowledged the pivotal role played by doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, saving countless lives, and protecting the world. He praised their selfless service and highlighted the collective recognition of the importance of medical professionals.

    The minister highlighted several initiatives taken up by government including improvements in disease prevention through urban and rural development programmes such as Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, which ensured access to clean water and healthier crops. He said that Telangana leads in increasing green cover and has witnessed a reduction in disease prevalence. He also shared details such as Telangana Diagnostic labs are conducting 134 diagnostic tests. Establishment of 500 Basti Dawakhanas, the Kalyana Lakshmi initiative successfully curbed child marriages, the KCR kit significantly increased deliveries in government hospitals by 30 to 70 per cent, and Telangana stands as the only State with 100 per cent institutional deliveries.

    Regarding infrastructure, he highlighted the significant expansion of healthcare facilities in the State. Telangana has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of dialysis centres, from 3 to 102. Additionally, the government is in the process of setting up 50,000 beds to tackle emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. These include 10,000 ICU beds, 10,000 super specialty beds, and a substantial increase in medical college capacity. Telangana now boasts 56 medical colleges, compared to the initial count of 20, with an increase from 2,850 to 8,340 MBBS seats. The government has also recruited 1,161 assistant professors in government hospitals to enhance the quality of healthcare services.

    Kothagudem: Finance Minister T Harish Rao stated here on Friday that the tribal people were experiencing a golden era under the rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He praised the CM for resolving the decades-old issue of tribals and the issue of patta passbooks for podu lands was like a dream come true for the indigenous people. He pointed out that earlier only three lakh acres of podu lands had been granted to tribal people in the previous 60 years, but the BRS administration distributed over 4 lakh acres of podu land to them all at once.

    Along with Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Harish Rao took part in the distribution of the pattas. Addressing a gathering of tribals on the occasion, he claimed that Kothagudem’spodu farmers received roughly one-third of the four lakh acres of podu lands distributed throughout the State. He distributed pattasto as many as 50,595 farmers for 1,51,195 acres in the district.

    He informed that the podu farmers’land details would be uploaded on the Dharani portal, which makes them eligible for RythuBandhu, RythuBima, free energy, heavily discounted seeds, fertilisers and drip irrigation systems. He assured that the government would withdraw police cases booked against the podu farmers following their clashes with the forest personnel in the past. Podu farmers would also be eligible to receive compensation in case of vagaries of nature.Congress in its 2009 election manifesto promised to upgrade thandas into gram panchayats but failed to do so. However, KCR kept his promise by upgrading 2,471 thandas and gudems into gram panchayats for their self-rule, he noted.

    Listing the initiatives taken for the welfare for the tribal people in the State, he said the ST reservation quota was increased by the government to 10%. As a result, more than 500 tribal students were admitted to MBBS programmes each year. The government also established tribal districts such as Kothagudem, Asifabad, Mulugu, and Bhupalpally. As against 91 colleges established by the previous governments in the 65 years preceding the state formation, 22 women’s residential degree institutions and 95 Gurukul colleges for tribal students were set up in the last nine years, he said, adding that the Mission Bhagiratha was quenching the thirst of agency villages which used to experience seasonal and water-borne illnesses due to shortage of safe water. Previous regimes only worried about using tribal people as a voting bloc, the CM KCR was attending to their long-pending issues and, as such, they should stand by the BRS in the upcoming elections, he urged.

    MPs Nama Nageswara Rao and VaddirajuRavichandra, Government Whip Rega Kantha Rao, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty and MLAs in the district participated in the programme.

    Ministers KT Rama Rao, Harish Rao inaugurate slaughter house near Siddipet

    Siddipet: IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao along with Finance Minister T Harish Rao have inaugurated a modern slaughter house built at Irkode Village near Siddipet on Thursday.

    The slaughter house was built with an outlay of Rs 6 crore. The two Ministers have visited the food and pickle stall put up by SHG women at slaughter house. Later, Rama Rao and Harish Rao laid a foundation for CC and BT Roads in Siddipet town at Kotilingala Temple.

    The roads will be laid with a budget of Rs 20 crore. Later, they have laid a foundation for beautification of Kappalakunta Tank at Narsapur.

    The beautification works will be taken up with a outlay of Rs 3.33 crore. Rama Rao and Harish Rao will address a public meeting after inaugurating Siddipet IT Tower at Nagulabanda.

    Telangana Govt will launch Gruhalakshmi scheme by June end: Harish Rao

    Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the State government would launch the Gruhalakshmi scheme by the end of June.

    The Gruhalakshmi scheme scheme was designed to grant Rs 3 lakh to homeless people to help them build a house on their own land. Addressing a programme organised to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene at Potharam village in Dubbaka on Wednesday, the Minister said the Telangana government will also start distributing nutrition kits to 6.8 lakh pregnant women across the State in June.

    The Minister, who expressed displeasure over Asha workers and health department staff who had distributed NCD kits to only 261 patients out of 450 in Potharam village, asked them to distribute the kits to all diabetes and BP patients without any delay.

    The Minister also asked the women to utilise the Arogya Mahila scheme by visiting a hospital at Thimmapur. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad chairperson V Roja Sharma and others were present.

    Earlier, Harish Rao presented a cheque worth Rs 2 lakh to a TRS worker’s family at Narayanraopet. Speaking on the occasion, he has said 47 families benefited from the party membership insurance in Siddipet constituency alone.

    Telangana will become hub of naturopathy: Harish Rao

    Hyderabad: The Telangana government has set its sights on transforming the State into a hub for naturopathy therapy in India, Health Minister T Harish Rao said on Saturday.

    He said that the government is working diligently to promote traditional Indian medicine, with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao emphasizing the importance of naturopathy. To achieve this goal, the Nature Cure Dispensary in Hyderabad will need to expand its facilities to draw patients from across the country.

    On Saturday, a ceremony was held to inaugurate the state-of-the-art facilities and development works at the Nature Cure Hospital in Ameerpet. Ministers Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy were present at the ceremony. Harish Rao announced that the newly developed hospital has received Rs 10 crores in funding, with more funds to follow. The hospital offers Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga, Homeopathy, Unani, and Siddha treatments, all of which align with the Indian medical theory of “healing with nature, healing with Pancha Bhutas.” He expressed his pleasure at inaugurating the hospital, stating that the facility will serve as a crucial stepping stone towards making Telangana a national hub for naturopathy treatment. Naturopathy is a drugless healing system that focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal itself through food, yoga, pranayama, and detoxification.

    The minister emphasised the importance of natural cures, stating that they are essential to maintaining good health and well-being.
