    Hyderabad: The IMD has predicted more rains o Sunday in several districts as well as in Hyderabad. It predicted that moderate to heavy rains may continue to lash several parts of Hyderabad city on Sunday.

    On Saturday night, heavy rain lashed many parts of Hyderabad such as Jeedimetla, Shahpur Nagar, Chintal, Jagadgirigutta, Kuthbullapur, Kompally, Dundigal, Mushirabad, RTC Cross Roads, Bagh Lingampally, Lower Tank Bund, Sarur Nagar, Kothapet, Dil Sukh Nagar, LB Nagar, Nagol, Vanasthalipuram, Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madapur, Kothi, Abids, Begambazar, Khairatabad, Lakdikapool, OU, Falak Numa, Tarnaka, Lalapeta, Ramanthapur, Uppal, Nizampet, Pragati Nagar, Kukatpally and other areas. Low-lying areas were submerged. Roads were waterlogged at many places and motorists were in trouble. Traffic was disrupted at many places

    Heavy rain is predicted for Hyderabad for the next 24 hours, the Meteorological Department said. As it has been raining in Hyderabad for three days, the residents of the city got relief from the intense heat.

    Heavy rains lash north Gujarat due to depression after Cyclone Biparjoy

    AHMEDABAD: Heavy rains lashed several parts of north Gujarat in the last 24 hours due to depression, a remnant of cyclonic storm Biparjoy, causing a flood-like situation in many villages of Banaskantha district, officials said on Monday.

    Various parts of Gujarat, including the Saurashtra region, are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a release.

    Several villages in the Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha were affected due to a flood-like situation, an official from the district administration said.

    Twenty cows were killed after getting swept away in water at Jadia village, the official said, adding that senior officials have reached Dhanera to help local authorities in relief work.

    Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall near Jakhau on the Kutch coast in Gujarat on Thursday evening.

    As per the IMD, the rainfall in the last 24 hours was the result of a depression, a remnant of cyclonic storm Biparjoy, over central parts of south Rajasthan and the neighbouring region.

    Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts in north Gujarat received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 6 am on Monday.

    Danta taluka of Banaskantha received 126 mm rain during the last 24 hours, followed by 86 mm in Amirgadh (Banaskantha), 82 mm in Khedbrahma (Sabarkantha), 74 mm in Vijaynagar (Sabarkantha), 69 mm in Poshina (Sabarkantha) and 37 mm in Vadali taluka of Sabarkantha, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said.

    Tirupati: The sudden burst of heavy rain accompanied with strong gales panicked the residents in the pilgrim city on Sunday afternoon. The heavy rain lashed out for over an hour while the spells continued for another 2-3 hours in different parts of the city inundating several low-lying areas causing severe inconvenience to people. Several roads were flooded with rainwater and causing severe traffic disruptions.

    Several temporary sheds were blown out and many trees uprooted. Gusty winds and intermittent lightning panicked the denizens and the power supply was disrupted for over five hours at different places in the city and the surrounding areas. The city witnessed a similar situation on May 25 in which several electric poles were damaged and felldown. Power disruptions were caused especially in those areas again.

    At Subba Reddy Nagar of Tirupati rural mandal, an electric pole fell across the road damaging a car. Another car got damaged at DR Mahal road with a big tree uprooted and fell on it. Causing traffic disruptions, two more big trees were uprooted at Korlagunta on Tirumala bypass road. At Korameenugunta, the heavy rain accompanied by gales wreaked havoc with more than 20 temporary shelters with iron sheets collapsed. The denizens were looking for the government staff for rescue operations.

    Heavy rain throws life out of gear in Rangareddy

    Rangareddy: A sudden and heavy downpour wreaked havoc in most parts of Rangareddy district on Sunday, resulting in widespread traffic disruptions, uprooted trees. Several areas of Parigi, Shadnagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Narsingi, LB Nagar, and Maheshwaram were plunged into darkness for several hours due to the torrential rain.

    As per reports, the heavy rains and gusty winds caused significant damage, including uprooted trees along the Shadnagar highway, which caused widespread disruption. A signboard along the Hyderabad-Bijapur 167 highway also collapsed, leading to a temporary traffic jam. In addition, electricity poles fell on houses in the Shivareddypalli village, further adding to the chaos.

    The rainfall also caused immense damage to the local mango farmers in some areas, resulting in significant losses, and some houses were flooded in the Balaji Nagar Colony under the Narsinghi Municipality.

    The heavy rain has caused considerable disruption in the region and authorities are working around the clock to address the situation and minimize the impact on the local population.
