    4 including 6 girls arrested with heroin

    The police have arrested six persons, including four girls, and recovered 12 gm heroin from a Sector 67 residence.

    The suspects, identified as Mauli Baidwan residents Gurjinder Singh, Parwinder Singh, Bhupinder Kaur, Pratibha, Rajwinder Kaur and Shahina, have been booked under the NDPS Act at the Phase 11 police station.

    DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal said: “An attempt to murder case was registered on May 18. When the police went to arrest the suspects, they found heroin in the Sector 67 house, following which the suspects were arrested.”

    Local residents said drugs were being sold from a house in Sector 67 for the past one year, but the police had failed to act against the suspects.

    2 held with heroin

    The police arrested two youths with 60-gm heroin in Handesra. The suspects have been identified as Ramesh Kumar and Jai Singh, both residents of Kullu. The Handesra police in-charge Shivdeep Singh Brar said the duo was intercepted near Bora Kheda. During the search, the police seized 60 gm of heroin from their possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.

    The Khanna police today arrested three persons and seized 40 gm of heroin from their possession. In another incident, a woman was nabbed with heroin by the Ludhiana police.

    The suspects have been identified as Karanvir Singh, Amandeep Singh and Pardeep Singh, all residents of Dhamot Kalan village, near Payal. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspects.

    Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Payal, Harsimrat Chetra, in a statement issued said acting on a tip-off, the Doraha police laid a naka at a strategic place in Doraha where a Maruti Swift car (bearing registration no. PB10CP3695) was intercepted. During the checking of the vehicle, 40 gm of heroin was found kept in a polythene bag.

    The DSP said the suspects were on the way to deliver heroin to their clients. Now, their police remand would be sought from court so that the entire drug smuggling network could be busted.

    In the other incident, the Ludhiana police on Tuesday arrested a woman and seized 80 gm of heroin from her. She has been identified as Neelam of Ekta Marg, Shimlapuri.

    ADCP Rupinder Sran in a statement issued said officials of the anti-narcotics cell of the city police had received a tip-off that the woman was into the drug smuggling trade and she was on the way to deliver heroin to her clients. The police laid a trap and nabbed her along with heroin from a strategic point.

    A case under the NDPS Act was registered.

    The Una police arrested four persons and seized heroin from their possession in two incidents yesterday.

    SP Arijit Sen Thakur said that a police party was on duty at Pandoga village near the inter-state border late last evening when two persons were seen speeding on a motorcycle from the Punjab side.

    On seeing the police, the motorcyclists tried to turn back, but were intercepted by the police. During search, 5.17 grams of heroin was seized from their possession. The two accused have been identified as Rajan Saini of Bhadsali village in Una district and Daljeet Singh of Guru Nanak Dev Nagar in Ludhiana.

    In another incident, the Pandoga police party spotted two persons sitting in front of a closed shop late last night. The police team found 5.44 grams of heroin in their possession after it grew suspicious and searched the duo. Both the accused hail from Hamirpur district – Aman Kumar from Dadoh village and Sandeep Kumar from Tippar village.

    The Special Task Force (STF) wing of Ludhiana arrested a man and seized 272 gm of heroin from his possession.

    The accused has been identified as Amandeep Jethi of New Janta Nagar.

    STF, Ludhiana Range, Inspector Harbans Singh, said in October 2022, the STF had nabbed Palvinder Singh, alias Pinder Brar, of Moga with 2.93 kg of heroin. In his questioning, he also talked about involvement of his brother-in-law Amandeep Jethi, Jethi’s wife Tanu and Palvinder’s wife Anshu Bala. Hence they were also nominated in the drug case.

    Jethi was also recently declared a proclaimed offender by court.

    On April 13, Jethi was arrested by the police and court granted five-day police remand for him. During his questioning, he said he had concealed 272 gm of heroin in the air filter of his Maruti Brezza vehicle. The STF team conducted a raid today and seized heroin, the STF Inspector said.

    He also has a criminal past as seven cases of drug smuggling were already registered against him in the past and after coming out on bail, he had again started the trade.

    The Damtal police and narcotic cell team jointly conducted a raid at a house in Damtal last evening and seized 35.77-gm heroin and a country-made pistol from the possession of Mohit Kumar, a local resident.

    The accused was arrested and a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered against him.

    Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said the accused was produced in the Indora court on Saturday, which remanded him in police custody.
