    Rahul leaves hospital after week-long wellness treatment in Kerala

    Malappuram: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday completed his Ayurvedic wellness treatment at the famous Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala here and left for Delhi.

    In a Facebook post, Gandhi said his stay at the hospital was a rejuvenating experience.

    He thanked the doctors and staff for the “love and care” they shared for him.

    “My stay at the Arya Vaidya Sala in Kottakkal has been a rejuvenating experience. My heartfelt thanks to Dr. PM Varier and his team of doctors and other staff, for the love and care they shared with me these past few days,” he posted on Facebook with a picture.

    On July 25, Gandhi attended a condolence meeting at Malappuram, organised by the Congress party in memory of former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy.

    Last Wednesday, he offered prayers at Sri Viswambhara Temple situated on the premises of Arya Vaidya Sala.

    Later, Gandhi had also witnessed a Kathakali performance at PSV Natyasangham, a centre of national repute.

    In a Facebook post, Gandhi had said that he thoroughly enjoyed the enthralling performance of Kathakali by PSV Natyasangham, a renowned classical centre under the aegis of Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal that was established by the legendary ‘Vaidyaratnam’ PS Varier.”

    He had said that each art form of India is a reflection of its diverse histories and cultures.

    Tirupati: TTD Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy asserted that the BIRRD hospital with its expertise and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities is capable of handling critical surgeries and affirmed that the TTD-run hospital would be developed as a national-level referral hospital on orthocare.

    Inaugurating the three-day Operative Arthroplasty Summit here on Friday in the temple city, the EO said such summits are rarely held in the country with just 10-12 live surgery sessions. But the BIRRD summit has scheduled 22 live surgeries in three days by top 20 ortho surgeons of the country and nearly 200 surgeons are attending the conference, which is very helpful for exchange of skills and new concepts.

    The BIRRD hospital is conducting several such critical operations including cerebral palsy surgeries free of cost and medical exponents from across the country have been visiting Tirupati and extending their services for whom TTD provides free accommodation, transport, food besides Srivari Darshan, as a token of appreciation of their services for the needy poor.

    He complimented the OSD of BIRRD hospital Dr Reddappa Reddy, doctors Dr Pradip, Dr Venugopal and Dr Deepak for conducting the first of its kind summit by TTD-run hospital.

    Dr Krishna Kumar, a visiting ortho expert said BIRRD hospital will soon earn its place on the world map and debutant doctors would have a lot to learn here.

    Dr Martin Zimmerman, a hip replacement expert of Switzerland gave a presentation on the latest medical technology in Arthroplasty surgeries.

    Dr Rajesh Malhotra, head of Orthopaedic wing at AIIMS, New Delhi, said the BIRD summit had achieved a remarkable feat of bringing all kneecap transplants on a single platform and providing opportunity for treatment to poor patients.

    The summit participants had the opportunity to observe the live surgeries of critical cases conducted by experts in the state-of art operation theatres at BIRRD Hospital.     Fifty-four people admitted at Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district hospital have died in the last three days, following which a team of the health department from Lucknow has reached the hospital to ascertain the cause of deaths, officials said on Sunday.

    The deaths come amid the heatwave conditions in the region. However, Ballia Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Jayant Kumar said only two people have died due to heat stroke in the district till Sunday.

    Nearly 400 patients were admitted to the district hospital from June 15 to June 17, they said, adding all the patients who died at the government hospital were aged above 60 years.

    Meanwhile, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the district hospital, Dr Divakar Singh, was removed and sent to Azamgarh, allegedly after he made a careless remark about the cause of deaths.

    Dr S K Yadav has been given the charge of CMS, a senior official said. “As per records of the district hospital, of the 54 deaths, 40 per cent of the patients had fever, while 60 per cent were suffering from other diseases. So far, only two persons have died due to heat stroke in the district,” CMO Kumar told PTI.

    CMS Yadav said the hospital is under pressure as around 125 to 135 patients are being admitted here daily.

    “On June 15, as many as 154 patients were admitted to the district hospital, of which 23 patients died due to various reasons. While 20 patients died on June 16, 11 passed away on the following day. They were all aged above 60 years,” he added.

    According to the health officials, on average about eight deaths are reported daily at the district hospital. On Saturday, additional director of the health department of Azamgarh division, O P Tiwari, said a team of the health department from Lucknow would come to Ballia and conduct tests, after which the cause of the deaths would be ascertained. “Maybe there is a disease, which could not be detected. The temperature is also high in the region. During the summers and winters, death rates among diabetic patients and those with breathing difficulties and blood pressure usually increase,” Tiwari said.

    On Sunday, District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar said that the number of beds at the district hospital has been increased to accommodate more patients.

    “In order to ensure that patients at the district hospital do not face any difficulties, some air coolers and air-conditioners have been arranged. Apart from this, 15 beds have also been increased,” he said.

    The DM also said, “CMS Dr Divakar Singh has been sent to Azamgarh, since he gave wrong information about death figures.” Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, said, “The superintendent’s removal has been done since he had made a careless remark without having information about the heatwave. All the chief medical officers and the chief medical superintendents in the state have been instructed to identify each and every patient, and provide them treatment.” Ballia, with the entire central and eastern UP, is reeling under sultry weather. As per the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Ballia was recorded at 42.2 degrees Celsius (4.7 notches above normal) on Friday (June 16), when 20 patients had died at the district hospital.

At present, both the parties have complained to the SP.     Puri: In an unfortunate incident, a devotee reportedly died during the Deva Snana Purnima in Odisha’s Puri on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ambalal Bhoi, a resident of Rajasthan.

    According to reports, Bhoi had come to Puri along with his family members to witness the Deva Snana rituals of Lord Jagannath and his siblings. However, he fell sick when he was near the Snana Mandap of the 12th Century Shrine.

    Soon, Bhoi was rushed to the Singhadwara Primary Health Centre for treatment. Later, he was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, he was declared dead by the doctors.

    While the exact reason behind Bhoi’s death was not known immediately, his death has saddened some devotees as he breathed his last while everyone was busy in the rituals of the Lord Lord Jagannath.

    AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met ailing party leader Satyendar Jain at a hospital here on Sunday and described him as a “brave man” and “hero”.

    Jain, who has been in Tihar Jail since his arrest by the ED in May last year in connection with a money laundering case, was on Friday last granted six-week interim bail by the Supreme Court, on medical grounds.He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday last after he collapsed in prison due to dizziness, party sources had said.

    The former health minister was first admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, and later, shifted to the the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash (LNJP) Hospital due to breathing problems.

    The Supreme Court on Friday last allowed Jain to undergo treatment in a hospital of his choice. It also directed Jain to not talk to the media during his interim bail period that ends on July 11.

Not only this, the provisions of the Nursing Home Act are not being followed in the hospital. After the complaint, the collector wrote to CMHO Durg to investigate the matter. CMHO Dr. JP Meshram had sent the nursing home team here for investigation. The team found here during the inspection that the Nursing Home Act Rules 2010 and 2013 are not being followed by the doctors in initial treatment. After receiving the investigation report, on the instructions of the Collector, the CMHO took several major actions on Shreya Hospital and Diagnostic Center, ranging from fines to banning operations.

A friend of his had come to the New Civil Hospital to see a patient who was sick with alcohol consumption, but he brought not coconut water or fruits but the sick friend’s favorite drink. However, he did not know that the friend for whom he had brought the country liquor had died two days ago.

    According to the information received from the New Civil Hospital, in the morning a young man came to meet his friend Sunil Yadav admitted in the hospital located at Kidney Bhawan. When the security guard searched him, a packet of country liquor was found in his pocket. The name of the person caught with liquor is Raju Male (45 years, resident of Azadnagar, Bhatar).

    The security guards and doctors asked him about alcohol and said that his friend Sunil Yadav is admitted here due to illness and is addicted to alcohol. Brought wine for a sick friend. On checking whether a person named Sunil Yadav was actually admitted or not, the records revealed that a patient named Sunil Yadav was admitted on 25th. He died on the 28th.
