    HRTC bus caught fire in Shimla

    An HRTC bus caught fire near the Lift in Shimla this morning. Fortunately, all 20 passengers managed to get off the bus before it was engulfed by thick plumes of smoke. But fire engines brought the flames under control soon.

    As per an HRTC official, smoke stared emanating from the engine of the bus as soon as the driver applied brakes to stop it near the Lift.

    “The exact cause of the fire will be known only after an inquiry into the incident. At present, it appears that the fire broke out due to a spark in the engine,” he claimed.

    Arki. A painful road accident has occurred on the Arki-Dumahar road under Police Station Arki. Here a bike lost control and rammed into an HRTC bus. A youth riding a bike died in the accident while another was injured. The deceased has been identified as Neeraj Kumar (24) s/o Ramesh Verma r/o Village Sai Post Office Balera Tehsil Arki, while the injured has been identified as Arun Kumar (26) s/o Krishna Lal r/o Village Sai Post Office Balera. The injured has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, took the dead body into custody and started investigation by registering a case in connection with the incident.
