    Hyderabad to witness maximum temperature reaching 30°C; Showers expected

    Hyderabad: After heavy rains and subsequent drop in mercury over the week, Hyderabad is now bracing itself for a surge in maximum temperatures in the next couple of days.

    The day temperatures are to go up, reach 30 degree Celsius, though the rising mercury is expected to be accompanied by intermittent clouds, offering some respite.

    According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise steadily, reaching the 30 degree Celsius mark, and possibly beyond. Despite the expected rise in temperatures, there is a silver lining in the form of anticipated rain spells as one or two showers are predicted to grace the city.

    Alongside the showers, the nights are anticipated to be relatively cooler, with minimum temperatures hovering between 22 degree Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.

    On Saturday, the weather remained pleasant in the city with intermittent showers. Rajiv Nagar Community Hall premises in Uppal received 4.3 mm rain followed by Moulali (3 mm), and Jeedimetla (2.3 mm).

    Hyderabad (IANS). Police have arrested a 19-year-old student, whose reckless driving rammed two morning walkers and injured two others in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

    Badruddin Khadri, a BBA student in a private college, has been arrested by the Narsingi police. According to the police, Khadri was going to Moinabad with three of his friends to celebrate his birthday. An allegedly drunk youth rammed his car into morning walkers near Sun City in Bandlaguda Jagir on the outskirts of the city at around 6 am.

    The mother and her daughter died on the spot, while the third woman and another man were injured. The deceased have been identified as Anuradha (38) and her daughter Mamta (16). Another woman named Kavita and a man named Intikhab Alam were injured in the incident, who were taken to the hospital.

    The horrific accident was captured on CCTV and the video clip went viral on social media. The speeding car failed to take a turn and lost control before hitting the women walking on the road. After knocking pedestrians to the ground, the car skidded off the road and hit a tree.

    The person driving the car and three other people abandoned the vehicle and fled.

    Later, the police identified the owner of the vehicle and the person driving it.

    Girl student commits suicide by jumping from college hostel in Hyderabad

    Hyderabad (IANS) | A 16-year-old girl student, who took admission in a private junior college in Hyderabad a week ago, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of her hostel building on Tuesday. According to the police, the incident took place at Narayana College Hostel in Bachupally area of Nizampet.

    The students saw the body of the Class 11 girl student lying in a pool of blood on the ground and informed the college authorities.

    After getting information from the college administration, the police reached the spot and sent the body to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.

    The girl, a resident of Kamareddy town, was admitted to the college by her parents a week back.

    She lived in the college hostel.

    The reason behind the girl taking such a drastic step is yet to be ascertained. Police is trying to ascertain whether he left any suicide note.

    The police have informed the girl’s family members. A case has been registered at KPHB police station under Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.

    Hyderabad (IANS) | A student of intermediate second year (Class 12) allegedly committed suicide in Hyderabad. Navya hanged herself at her residence in Bharat Nagar under Kulsumpura police station area on Wednesday night. The girl’s parents alleged that she had died due to ‘shudra puja’ (black magic). He said that unknown people performed ‘petty worship’ in front of his house. They found lemon and diya near the entrance of the house.

    Navya’s parents allege that she committed suicide due to black magic done by unknown people.

    Police sent the dead body for postmortem. They have registered the case and started further action.

    Hyderabad: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) President Subhrakant Panda visited the FICCI -FLO Industrial Park in Sultanpur, Hyderabad on Wednesday.

    During his visit, he met the women entrepreneurs and interacted with them at the first 100% women-owned industrial park. Subhrakant Panda also termed the establishment of the park as a visible women empowerment that is breaking barriers.

    The FLO Industrial Park is facilitated by FLO Hyderabad Chapter with the support of TSIIC and the Government of Telangana. The park spread across 50 acres was allotted to 25 women entrepreneurs.

    Hyderabad: An alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saved the life of a woman passenger, who fell down while boarding a moving train at the Begumpet railway station.

    Around 9 am on Tuesday, amidst the usual hustle and bustle of the station, the Lingampalli- Falaknuma MMTS train arrived at the station.

    A woman passenger, Saraswathi who hurriedly tried to board the train, which had already picked up speed, lost her balance and was at a risk of falling in the gap between the train and the platform.RPF constable K Sanitha, who was on duty on the platform, displayed an exceptional presence of mind and rushing to the passenger’s rescue, pulled her to safety. Other passengers who were present on the platform, also rushed to assist her.

    For her swift response, Sanitha won accolades and the video of the incident went viral. Sanitha from Nalgonda district was appointed in Railway Protection Force in 2020 and posted at Begumpet railway station.

    The RPF said under mission ‘Jeevan Raksha’, the RPF personnel, risking their own lives, saved two passengers in the year 2023. The RPF also requested passengers to report any instances of unsafe practices observed at railway stations or on trains to the nearest RPF personnel or through Railway Helpline No 139.

    Youth arrested in theft case dies in police custody

    Hyderabad (IANS) | A man arrested in a theft case died in police custody in Hyderabad on Tuesday night.

    Chiranjeevi, who was picked up from his house by the police on Tuesday evening, died a few hours later under suspicious circumstances.

    While the police claimed that he recovered and succumbed to his injuries at Gandhi Hospital, his family members alleged that he died due to torture by the police.

    Chiranjeevi, said to be an auto rickshaw driver, was picked up from his house in Singareni Colony Secunderabad and allegedly taken to Tukaram Gate police station.

    One of the family members said that some policemen came to the house and took him away saying that he would be questioned in connection with the theft. He alleged that the policemen did not tell the name of the police station where he was being taken.

    Around 10.30 am, the police informed Chiranjeevi’s family that he had collapsed due to a fit and died during treatment at Gandhi Hospital. However, the family alleged that she was tortured, which led to her death.

    A relative said the body bore injury marks on the head, face and limbs, which showed she was tortured in police custody.

    The family of the deceased demanded justice.
