    Hyderabad to witness maximum temperature reaching 30°C; Showers expected

    Hyderabad: After heavy rains and subsequent drop in mercury over the week, Hyderabad is now bracing itself for a surge in maximum temperatures in the next couple of days.

    The day temperatures are to go up, reach 30 degree Celsius, though the rising mercury is expected to be accompanied by intermittent clouds, offering some respite.

    According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise steadily, reaching the 30 degree Celsius mark, and possibly beyond. Despite the expected rise in temperatures, there is a silver lining in the form of anticipated rain spells as one or two showers are predicted to grace the city.

    Alongside the showers, the nights are anticipated to be relatively cooler, with minimum temperatures hovering between 22 degree Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.

    On Saturday, the weather remained pleasant in the city with intermittent showers. Rajiv Nagar Community Hall premises in Uppal received 4.3 mm rain followed by Moulali (3 mm), and Jeedimetla (2.3 mm).

    Hyderabad: Police constable dies after gun misfires

    A Police constable on security duty at the Mint Compund died on Thursday, after his gun allegedly misfired.

    The constable, Ramaiah, was posted as a security guard at the government printing press. The incident occurred while he was cleaning a service rifle.

    The police officer died on the spot after a bullet pierced into his body, leading to grievous injuries.

    Police have reached the spot and are investigating the incident.

    Hyderabad: Three persons were killed in different road accidents in the Hyderabad since Wednesday night.

    At Falaknuma, a six year-old-boy died after a car hit the motorcycle on which he was going on Wednesday night. The victim Ahmed Khan, a resident of Noor colony in Falaknuma was going along with his parents to the house after attending a function when a car hit their bike at Falaknuma road.

    “Ahmed fell down on the road and died on the spot due to injuries while his parents sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital,” said Falaknuma police. A case is registered by the police and the driver of the car was taken into custody.

    In another case at Afzalgunj, a woman Susheela (52), who worked as a sweeper at QQSUDA office at Darulshifa died after an auto rickshaw hit her at Putli-Bowli on Wednesday morning. The woman was crossing the road near Putli Bowli metro station when the auto rickshaw hit her, said Afzalgunj police. The police shifted the body to mortuary for post-mortem examination.

    At Narsingi, a flower vendor, M Sai Amma (35) a resident of Bandlaguda Sun City died after a car hit her on Wednesday night. According to the police, the woman was walking on the road when a car hit her. She fell on the road and died due to the injuries. A case is registered by the police and investigation going on.

    Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand on Monday asked the traffic cops to conduct a special drive against the illegal use of sirens in the city.

    The police have been directed to detain and seize all vehicles using unauthorized sirens.

    Hyderabad police to take action against ambulances
    The commissioner also directed the traffic cops to check ambulances, which have been reported to be using sirens even when they are not carrying patients or carrying fake patients. The use of sirens in such cases creates a disturbance in traffic flow and could cause accidents.

    Responding to a tweet that highlighted the illegal use of sirens by a vehicle on April 23 from Tolichowki to Rethibowli, the commissioner agreed that the illegal use of sirens by all and sundry is creating a lot of traffic issues and disturbing the maintenance of traffic flow. He urged the public to keep reporting vehicles that are illegally using sirens and provide proof of such incidents.

    Hyderabad Police arrests Nigerian in online gift fraud case

    Hyderabad (IANS)| Hyderabad Police has arrested a Nigerian national in connection with an online gift fraud. He, along with four other accused, cheated a person of Rs 1.22 crore. The Cyber Crime Police team arrested 42-year-old Onuigbo Chibuzo Godwin alias Bobby from New Delhi.

    According to the police, he maintained fake bank accounts, SMS alert mobile numbers and passed on information about fraudulent transactions in those fake accounts to the main accused persons, Sekuro and Okuchukwu, who were based in Nigeria.

    The accused were cheating innocent people on the pretext of gift fraud. Bobby would have received 20 per cent of his share of the credit amount.

    Bakayoko Lassina of Ivory Coast (West Africa) and Shoma Purkayastha alias Shoma Prasad Purkayastha of Meghalaya were arrested in February 2023 in the same case. The Nigerian mastermind Bobby has now been arrested. Police seized laptop, mobile phone, sim card, bank passbook and debit card from his possession.

    Police said Sekuro and Okuchukwu, based in Nigeria, are absconding.

    According to the police, the accused used to create fake Facebook profiles in the name of US/UK citizens and send friend requests to Indians of the opposite sex. Later, after becoming friends, they used to chat on WhatsApp. After a few days of chatting, both became very close friends. After gaining some trust they inform the victims that they are going to send expensive gifts, jewelery etc and later contact the victims with fake mobile numbers pretending to be from Customs and in the name of RBI fee Used to collect money. They persuaded the victims to deposit the amount in the given fake bank accounts.
