This course is the alternative for BTech CSE programme

Hyderabad: Here is an alternative to the much in demand BTech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) programme for the students.

A new BSc (Hons) Computer Science programme, which will be on the lines of the BTech CSE, is being introduced in the degree colleges from the forthcoming academic year. The new programme comes with an option to exit after third year.

While a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science certificate will be awarded to students on completion of the four-year programme, students can exit the programme after a successful third year and earn a basic BSc in Computer Science certificate. In terms of fee too, the new programme will cost much lesser than the fee for regular BTech CSE programme.

The programme will be offered by 11 government degree colleges and 11 select private degree colleges in the State. Each of the government degree colleges will have 60 seats and admissions will be via Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST).

“About 70 to 75 per cent students are opting for BSc Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science combination in the government degree colleges. Now, students can purely pursue CS in their degree instead as a combination. The curriculum will be practical oriented and designed by faculty from the State Universities and professionals from the top IT companies. Telangana State Council of Higher Education and State Universities are also introducing skill development courses like BBA Retailing or Logistics or BSc in Hospital Management, BA creative writing, entertainment from next academic year. The admissions will be through DOST only.

Security tightened near Hyderabad theatres screening ‘The Kerala Story’

Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police have tightened security near multiplexes and theatres screening ‘The Kerala Story’. This decision was taken to avoid any untoward incidents during or after the screening of the movie.

Speaking to Siasat.com, a cop from Kachiguda Police Station confirmed that constables are being deployed at theatres in Hyderabad screening ‘The Kerala Story’ to ensure the safety and security of moviegoers and the general public.

    Controversy surrounding ‘The Kerala Story’
Ever since the release of its trailer, ‘The Kerala Story’ has been in the news due to its alleged communal content. Amidst the raging controversy, the producers of the film have changed the text of the introduction to the film in its latest teasers on YouTube. The earlier text mentioned that around 32,000 women have gone missing from Kerala. However, the latest version says that three women were sent on terror missions in India and abroad after brainwash and conversion.

The film, starring Adah Sharma, created a major controversy when it claimed that 32,000 women had left the state. As a result, a petition was filed before the Kerala High Court seeking a ban on the screening of the film.

However, the High Court pointed out that in a secular state like Kerala, “nothing is going to happen”. The court stated that upon examining the teaser and the film preview, there was nothing against any religion and that Islam was not portrayed in poor light. The court further noted that there have been several films in the country that refer to IS.

  • Gold rates break life-time high records in Hyderabad, other cities

Gold rates break life-time high records in Hyderabad, other cities

Hyderabad: Gold rates have broken all-time high records in Hyderabad and other cities across India after the United States Federal Reserve approved a quarter-point interest rate hike, continuing its efforts to achieve an inflation rate of 2 percent.

As of today, the gold rates in Hyderabad have jumped over 0.87 percent. The current rates for 22-carat and 24-carat yellow metal are Rs 57000 and Rs 62180, respectively. In the national capital, the rates for 22-carat and 24-carat yellow metal are Rs 57150 and Rs 62330, respectively.

The rates in other cities are as follows:

Cities 22K (in rupees) 24K (in rupees)
    Hyderabad 57000 62180
    New Delhi 57150 62330
    Mumbai 57000 62180
    Chennai 57500 62730
    Kolkata 57000 62180
As India is an importer of gold, international reasons play a significant role in the rates of the yellow metal. On Wednesday, the US Federal Reserve signaled that the quarter-point interest rate hike may be its last one for now. This indicates progress in the Central Bank’s battle with inflation.

As the Fed hinted that there will be no further hikes in interest rates, interest-bearing assets are becoming less preferable thereby shifting investors’ focus towards gold. As a result of investors’ interest in gold, the prices of the precious metal are rising.

In times of economic uncertainty, investors tend to flock towards gold, as it is considered a safe-haven asset. The rise in gold rates in Hyderabad and other Indian cities is a reflection of the prevailing global economic conditions. As the world economies continue to be volatile and uncertain, gold will continue to remain a popular investment option.
