    Ranchi (IANS) | IAS Chhavi Ranjan had a meeting with power broker Prem Prakash in the VIP cell on the same day he was sent to jail in a money laundering case related to Ranchi’s land scam. Prem Prakash is also already in jail in money laundering case. The ED has seized the CCTV footage of the meeting of the two. Now the ED is preparing to send summons to the superintendent and jailer of Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi for questioning in this matter.

    IAS Chhavi Ranjan’s troubles may increase further after the footage of the meeting with power broker Prem Prakash surfaced. The ED has been interrogating him for the last ten days by taking him on remand.

    During this, he was asked on the very first day that how do you know Prem Prakash and what is your relation with him? On this question, he categorically denied knowing or being related to any person named Prem Prakash.

    Now that the ED has obtained the CCTV footage of the meeting of the two, a request to extend their remand period can be made to the court.

    The ED team had conducted a search raid in Birsa Munda Central Jail on Monday with the permission of the court. Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the jail was seized.

    It was found that Prem Prakash reached the cell of Chhavi Ranjan, who was sent to jail on May 5, the same day at 6.41 pm with a towel wrapped around his face. After staying with Chhavi Ranjan in his cell for almost an hour, he came out at 7.36 pm.

    It is being told that according to the jail manual, all the inmates of the jail are locked in their wards after sunset. They can neither go out of their ward nor meet any inmate of another ward.

    ED may issue summons to Jail Superintendent and Jailor today or tomorrow in case of wrongful meeting of money laundering accused against jail manual.

    Let us tell you that Chhavi Ranjan, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, is accused of involvement in the case of illegal purchase and sale of land occupied by the army. In this case, the ED raided their locations. After this, on May 5, after ten hours of questioning, he was arrested and sent to Birsa Munda Jail. After this the Jharkhand government had suspended him.

    Power broker Prem Prakash was arrested by the ED on August 25 last year after two AK 47 rifles, 60 cartridges and several documents related to money laundering were recovered during a raid at his residence in Ranchi’s Harmu.

    Ranchi. IAS Chhavi Ranjan reached the ED office for the second time today for questioning in the army land scam case at Bariatu in Ranchi. Chhavi Ranjan reached the ED office at around 10 am. After which ED officials are questioning him on the army land case. After questioning, the ED arrested him around 9.35 pm. Please tell that for the first time, ED had sent summons to IAS Chhavi Ranjan on 21 April. But he did not come. After which the ED gave him time till 4 pm. But he did not reach. After which the ED summoned him again and called him on the 24th. On the second summon, Chhavi Ranjan reached the ED office on 24 April. During this also he was questioned for about 10 hours.

    In the early morning of April 13, ED had raided several states including Jharkhand. Along with this, the ED team also raided the ancestral residence of CI Bhanu Pratap of Bargai Zone in Simdega. Bhanu Prasad’s ancestral house is situated at Jhulan Singh Chowk near Simdega bus stand. CRPF team was also present outside the house. On the morning of 13 April i.e. Thursday, the ED team had reached to raid a total of 22 locations of IAS Chhavi Ranjan and others. In which Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Simdega, Hazaribagh, Kolkata and Gopalganj of Bihar were included. IAS Chhavi Ranjan is currently posted as Director in Social Welfare Department.

    Ranchi (IANS) | The ED will interrogate IAS Chhavi Ranjan again on May 1 in connection with the purchase and sale of about four and a half acres of army land by making fake documents. On Monday, he was questioned for about ten and a half hours. During this, Chhavi Ranjan had to face a lot of trouble when the six accused already arrested in the land scam, during face-to-face interrogation, clearly said that he was the mastermind of the entire episode. However, Chhavi Ranjan denied his allegations.

    According to ED sources, Chhavi Ranjan could not give satisfactory answers to several questions. Now the ED has asked him to appear on coming May 1 with all the details of his and his family’s assets.

    Chhavi Ranjan was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi till a few months back. Meanwhile, four and a half acres of land occupied by the army in Bariatu area of Ranchi was bought and sold. In this case, after receiving the complaint of money laundering, ED registered a case and started investigation, it has been revealed that fake documents of land were prepared and sold in Bengal. While registering the land, the Under Registrar of Ranchi had made a written remark that this registry was being done on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi. The ED asked him that the land was in possession of the army but a fake possession of a person named Pradeep Bagchi was shown. Ranchi Municipal Corporation got the land registered by showing two fake holdings, how was this possible. Chhavi Ranjan could not satisfy the ED with the answers to many questions related to this big game of Fajirwada.

    On the other hand, the accused arrested earlier in this scam by the ED said that after becoming the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, he had contacted all the land traders and called them to his office. He had asked everyone to do fajirwada for the land. Although Chhavi Ranjan kept denying it.

    Chhavi Ranjan is currently posted as Director in the Social Welfare Department in the Government of Jharkhand. About ten days ago, the ED had recovered many documents by raiding 21 places besides Chhavi Ranjan’s residences in the land scam.
