    Odisha: Museum complex to be developed at birthplace of Madhusudan Das

    Bhubaneswar: On the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian headed to Cuttack and visited the birthplace of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das on Saturday morning.

    After paying tributes to Madhubabu, Pandian discussed the development of the area, with the local people and administration. The development work will be done under the 5T initiative.. The plan will be prepared and presented before the Chief Minister for approval by April 15.

    A museum will be established in Madhu Babu’s birthplace. The hundred-year-old birthplace and place of work ground will be developed as a single museum complex.

    Noteworthy, that after returning from Calcutta, Madhu Babu stayed in a house near his birthplace and engaged himself in the service of Odisha.

    The street connecting his birthplace and workplace will be improved and rehabilitated. It is said that Madhubabu’s mother used to bring food from her native place to his workplace every day on this road.

    A light and sound show will also be arranged here. It will explain the glorious biography of Madhu Babu and his achievements. There will be a multilingual interpretation centre for the convenience of viewers from Odisha and outside the state.

    The museum will be developed in consultation with all concerned persons related to Madhu Babu’s life and the heritage sites. Pandian directed to ensure top-quality work for the project.

    Khandolite stones from Sathavamapur will be used to build the entry gate of the site. A parking lot will also be constructed near the work site.

    On this occasion, Pandian wished inmates of the childcare institution run by the Kasturba National Memorial Trust at Das’ birthplace on the occasion of Utkal Divas.

    Koraput: Neighbouring Andhra Pradesh cannot enter the disputed Kotia area of Koraput district in Odisha, warned Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

    During his one visit to Kotia, Pradhan celebrated the Utkala Dibasa with the locals of Kotia. On this occasion, while addressing the people, he said that the entire 28 villages of Kotia Grama Panchayat are of Odisha. He also asked the Andhra Pradesh Police to leave the border of Odisha.

    “Why you all are here? The Kotia Panchayat is of Odisha. Please go back. Go back Andhra,” Pradhan said to the officials of the neighbouring state. He then raised the ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ slogan.

    Pradhan also discussed about the border dispute and other issues with the locals during his visit.

    CM Naveen Patnaik approves 5 industrial projects worth Rs 35,760 crore

    Bhubaneswar: The High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved five big industrial projects worth Rs 35,760 crore.

    The five projects which got a green signal from the HLCA include two projects in the steel sector, one project each in green energy and equipment, chemicals sector, and technical textile sector.

    These five industrial projects will be set up in Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, and Keonjhar districts and are expected to generate over 38,100 employment opportunities in Odisha.

    The government has approved the proposal of WAREE Energies Limited to set up an integrated solar equipment manufacturing complex with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore. The manufacturing unit will have a capacity of 50,000 MT polysilicon, 10,000 MW each of ingot, wafer, solar cells, and solar module at Neulopoi, Dhenkanal. This would be the largest in eastern India and is expected to develop the ecosystem for further investment in this sector.

    Similarly, the HLCA gave approval for the proposal of Super Smelters Limited to set up an integrated steel plant of 1.8 MTPA (million tonne per annum) in Keonjhar district. A total of Rs 5,436.10 crore will be invested in the steel plant project.

    Another steel sector project proposed by Kashvi Power and Steel Private Limited has also got the nod of the government. The company will set up an integrated steel plant at Kalipal in Keonjhar district with an investment of Rs 1600 crore.

    Likewise, the State government has approved a project worth Rs 2,223.25 crore for the technical textile sector by MCPI Private Limited.

    The IVL Dhunseri Petrochem Industries Ltd also got a go-ahead signal to set up a bottle-grade PET resin at Paradeep in Jagatsinghpur district with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore.

    Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched ticket sale for the direct flight to Dubai from Bhubaneswar. Patnaik launched the ticket sales at Naveen Niwas today on Utkal Diwas.

    The maiden international flight from Bhubaneswar to Dubai will take off from Biju Patnaik International Airport on the 15th of May.

    “Connectivity is key to development and it has been a focus area of our government,” said the Chief Minister.

    Direct connectivity with Dubai which is one of the biggest aviation hubs will open up a direct gateway to the world. Not only it will provide seamless connectivity but also it will have a huge multiplier effect on investment in Odisha in sectors like IT, manufacturing and tourism. This is the aspiration of New Odisha and I am very happy to open ticket sales for the Dubai Flight”.

    The CM handed over the first eight tickets to Mission Shakti women, sportspersons, tribal leaders, Skilled in Odisha students and artists. They are Sundergarh SDC Chairperson Binay Kumar Toppo, Keonjhar SDC Chairperson Laxmi Nayak, Koraput DLF President Jyotirekha Chetty, sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, Footballer Anuradha Biswal, Shooter Shriyanka Sadangi, Balaram Rout from Jajpur Govt Polytechnic and Himansu Sahoo from Rourkela Govt ITI.

    While attending Make In Odisha Conclave in Dubai, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had assured the investor community and Odia diaspora that direct flights will commence to ease travel from the Middle East.

    The CM had also given approval to completely fund the flight operations.

    Dubai being one of the biggest travel hubs, commencement of direct flight connectivity will open up new avenues for investment, trade and tourism.

    It will also offer a convenient option for leisure travelers from across the world, looking to visit Odisha.

    Further within 2 weeks of the launch of direct flight to Dubai, international flight operations will commence to Singapore and Bangkok realizing Odisha’s vision to become the gateway to the East. Direct connectivity to aviation hubs like Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok will give a huge boost to connectivity facilitating travel for investor communities, tourists as well as seamless and economic travel options to Odia people working in these regions.

    Indigo Airlines has recently won the bid to operate direct flights to these three important gateways. As per the agreement, Indigo Airlines will operate direct flights from Biju Patnaik International Airport thrice a week. Inaugural ticket prices have been set to begin at ₹10,000 per single side journey and ₹20,000 for round trip. Each flight will have this subsidised tickets on first come first serve basis.

    The CM said a larger delegation from the state will go on first flight to Dubai. He thanked Govt of India especially Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia for providing all facilitation services for the flight operations.

    Minister Tukuni Sahoo was also present. Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian coordinated the program. Principal Secretary Usha Padhee briefed the CM about the flight operation.

    Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to change the timing of schools and the morning classes to begin from April 11.

    According to reports, the morning classes of class 1 to class 12 students will begin at 7 AM and continue till 11.30 AM till the declaration of the summer vacation.

    However, the district collectors have been asked to change the timing of the school after reviewing the heat wave condition in their respective schools. Besides, they have been directed to make arrangements for pure drinking water and other facilities at every school as a precaution for the heatwave.

    School & Mass Education Minister Samir Dash earlier in the day informed that the new academic session will begin from April 3, 2023 while the admission of the students will be held between April 3 and April 8 in all schools.

    Cuttack: Just nine days after it was inaugurated, a portion of the spectator gallery of Banki Autonomous College playground in the Cuttack district collapsed.

    Odisha Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari had dedicated the spectator gallery of Banki College playground on March 23. However, a portion of it caved in early this morning following heavy rain in the locality.

    The local PWD office had engaged a contractor of outside the state for the construction of the spectator gallery. The locals had alleged poor quality of work and drew the attention of the local administration. However, no action was taken, due to which it collapsed, claimed the locals.

    The Gujarat government has announced a package of Rs 330 crore for farmers growing red onion-potatoes in the districts of Saurashtra. In connection with this package, the Chief Minister in reference to the offer made by Industries Minister Balwant Singh Rajput for the farmers of Patan district and Balkrishna Shukla, the magistrate for Vadodara district, to extend the benefits of this package to the farmers cultivating potatoes in these two districts. In the interest of the farmers of Patan and Vadodara districts, Bhupendra Patel has taken an immediate decision to include these two districts in the aid package scheme for potatoes.

    20 crore assistance for export of red onion

    On deciding to provide financial assistance of Rs. 100 per bag i.e. Rs. 2 per kg to farmers selling red onions in all APMCs of Saurashtra districts and maximum 50 bags (250 quintals) or Rs. 50 thousand to the beneficiary, an estimated Rs. 70 crore assistance will be given. On the basis of transportation assistance given earlier for red onion, it has been announced to export red onion outside other states/country to farmers/traders registered with the State Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Accordingly, in the first phase an estimated 2.00 lakh
    An assistance of Rs 20 crore has been announced for the export of metric tonnes of red onions.

    State government has decided to help

    As the market price of potato is low as a result of high production of potato, the state government has received several offers to help in this regard. In this regard, the farmer-oriented sensitive government of the state has announced a total assistance of Rs 240 crore to help the potato producing farmers of the state. In which the state government has decided to help the farmers in various ways.

    An estimated assistance amount of 20 crores will be provided

    Potato producing farmers of the state, if they collect potatoes only for eating, then at the rate of Rs. 1 per kg, they store them in cold storage from February 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023, with financial assistance of Rs. 50 per bag and a maximum of 600 bags. If so, help will be given. For this assistance, primarily about 200 crores will be provided. 50 per sack i.e. Re 1 per kilogram and maximum 600 sacks per beneficiary financial assistance is to be given for the period from February 1 to March 31, 2023, to the farmer selling potatoes in the APMC of the state. In the initial estimate, Rs 20 crore will be given for this assistance.

    Police have arrested 6 women of Kanjar (Salat) gang, who steal at interstate level and have criminal history. In coordination with a team of Bardoli Town and Kadodara GIDC police of Surat district, 6 women were arrested and a crime was solved within few hours.

    The police caught the accused women within a few hours.

    Six women escaped from a shop located on Bardoli Station Road in Surat district by stealing Rs 9.16 lakh in cash and clothes to be sent abroad, stealing the shopkeeper’s eyes on the pretext of begging. The shop owner informed the police and the police convoy reached the spot.

    When the police investigated on the basis of CCTV footage, they came to know that this gang of women had gone towards Kadodara Char Road. So the Bardoli Nagar Police informed the Kadodara GIDC Police about the entire incident. Therefore, the team of Kadodara GIDC police strictly interrogated 6 women and 4 children from the auto rickshaw coming from the road coming from Bardoli road, then 9.16 lakh rupees stolen from the shop located in Bardoli were recovered. The crimes registered in Bardoli Nagar police station were resolved with the mutual coordination of the Bhirat police within a few hours.
