Remembrance of April 25, 1999 – Peaceful Appeal of Falun Dafa Practitioners

New Delhi. The peaceful protest of 25 April 1999 in China can be called a milestone, which even Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi would have appreciated. About 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Zhongnanhai Central Government Complex in Beijing and protested peacefully for their civil rights, to appeal against the Chinese media’s slanderous articles about the Falun Gong cultivation practice. Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) is a cultivation practice of mind and body, originated in China in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Because of its health benefits and spiritual teachings, Falun Gong became so popular in China that within a few years millions of people were practicing it. The growing popularity of Falun Gong came to the chagrin of the Chinese Communist rulers.

The April 25 appeal, in the history of China’s Communist regime, was notable not only for its size, but also because it was entirely peaceful and orderly. However, the Chinese regime twisted the facts. To this day, the communist regime accuses Falun Gong of “laying siege to the Zhongnanhai Central Government Complex” on April 25, 1999. They falsely allege that the mob of 10,000 was a violent threat to the nation and its leaders. But nothing could be further from the truth. Traffic moved smoothly throughout the day. Some abhyasis took initiatives to ensure smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Practitioners continued to walk on the side of the road, allowing pedestrians to use the sidewalk. They were calm and orderly.

The then Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with Falun Gong representatives and assured that the government would not oppose Falun Gong. After that the 10,000 abhyasis started going back peacefully. As they left, the abhyasis cleaned up their surroundings, even picking up cigarette butts dropped by the police. Two months after the false promises of the Communist regime, on July 20, 1999, Chinese Emperor Jiang Zemin began the most brutal crackdown on Falun Gong practitioners that continues to this day. Till date millions of Chinese people have been abducted and imprisoned, tortured, fired from schools, jobs, or left homeless for practicing Falun Gong. There have been 80,000 cases of torture in China. Thousands were murdered.

The suppression and genocide of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party is a crime against humanity. Indian citizens should also condemn the human rights abuses in China and support the Falun Gong practitioners. In this context, this petition is becoming very popular in many countries including India: www.change.org/supportfalungong You can also help end the 23-year-long oppression of Falun Gong practitioners in China by signing this petition. You can find more information about this at www.faluninfo.net.

    Anwar Dhebar in ED custody
Big news related to ED investigation is coming out. According to the information received, the central agency has issued summons to many hoteliers of Raipur, including senior officials of the Excise Department and liquor traders for questioning in the liquor scam case. Let us inform that after the liquor scam in Delhi, a liquor scam has also come to the fore in Chhattisgarh. The scam was allegedly being operated with the help of top politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh. The Enforcement Directorate has busted this Rs 2000 crore liquor scam in the Congress-ruled state. The ED had arrested the main accused in this case Anwar Dhebar on Saturday itself, who has been sent to ED custody for four days.
The ED had earlier conducted searches at several places in the month of March and recorded statements of several people involved in the alleged scam. The agency claims that it has collected evidence of “huge corruption and money laundering of Rs 2000 crore between 2019 – 2022”. The ED issued a statement saying, ‘PMLA investigation revealed that an organized criminal syndicate led by Anwar Dhebar was operating in the state of Chhattisgarh. Apart from one person, Anwar Dhebar had the blessings of top politicians and senior bureaucrats of the state.
ED has once again summoned Mayor Ejaz Dhebar for questioning. In this episode, the mayor held a press conference before the ED inquiry. Against ED action, the mayor said that ED officials are taking action under pressure. Ejaz Dhebar said that efforts are being made to harass the Congress workers. My brother has been accused of a scam of more than 2 thousand crores, but how will it be proved. In the rule of BJP, there was a stronghold of corruption. Why is no action taken against them?
Dhebar said that being the mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation, he has written a letter to the ED officials. I am made to sit for 10-10 hours in the name of questioning. The work of our corporation is getting affected. We are fully cooperating with the inquiry, but it is wrong to do such an act out of political malice. Dhebar said that my brother Anwar is talking about getting property worth 2,200 crores. Can’t prove it in court. Just being bothered. After joining BJP all the matters get settled. On the other hand, Ejaz Dhebar said that people are being harassed from house to house in the Karnataka elections. We will continue to oppose this work. Please inform that Ejaz Dhebar’s brother has been arrested from a private hotel on Saturday, who is on remand for 4 days.

  • SC is not Supreme Court of Tilak Marg, it is apex court of India, by India, for India: CJI

SC is not Supreme Court of Tilak Marg, it is apex court of India, by India, for India: CJI

Amid a demand to set up benches of Orissa High Court in southern and western parts of the state, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Saturday said technology has obliterated the need for benches of the High Court because there is a bench in each district that has a virtual court.

With several high courts having started livestreaming proceedings, the CJI said this has a flip side, too. “We judges need to be trained ourselves, because we are now working in the age of social media,” he said. “Every word we say in the court is up in the public realm.”

CJI Chandrachud, who was speaking at the National Conference on Digitization, Paperless Courts and e-Initiatives at the Odisha Judicial Academy in Cuttack, said: “Every word which we judges say in court is up in the public realm in the age of social media. This places new demands on us as judges.”

He hailed Orissa HC’s efforts to set up virtual courts in 20 of the state’s 30 districts, where lawyers can address the HC from their districts. Setting up virtual courts across districts has enabled Orissa HC to be “truly the representative of the entire state” and ensure that there is access to justice for citizens across the state who want access to the high court, he said.

The CJI said: “The Supreme Court of India is not the Supreme Court of Tilak Marg but it’s the Supreme Court for India… of India… by India. Likewise, each high court is not really a high court for the metropolitan capital of the state.”

CJI Chandrachud said the vision of the e-court project is to provide an affordable, accessible, cost-effective, environmentally sustainable, transparent and accountable justice delivery system. He said each of these phrases “signifies the core of our mission of reaching out to the citizens, of replacing what was the earlier colonial model of administration of justice, under which citizens had to reach out to the court. We seek to now replace it with a model…to reach out to the citizens.”

On cybersecurity, the CJI said he has constituted a committee to ensure data security and data privacy. He said they are in the process of evolving a national model for data security and privacy which would be a major step.
