Big operation against Naxalites, security forces made special strategy

Dantewada. One driver and 10 jawans were martyred in the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh yesterday. This attack has shaken everyone. On the other hand, tribute was paid to the soldiers who were martyred in the Naxalite attack at Police Line Karali in Dantewada today. Many veterans including CM Bhupesh Baghel, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, MP Deepak Baij and MLA Vikram Shah Mandavi were present in this tribute meeting. At the same time, after this attack, the speculation has intensified that the state government will soon take some major step against the Naxalites.

The security forces have made a special strategy for the operation against the Naxalites hiding in the forests and villages. According to the information received from the sources, with the help of National Technical Research Organization (NTRO) in the border areas of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, mapping of all the routes passing through these areas will be done so that the security forces have advance information about all the routes during the operation. are.

Let us inform that there are many such border areas of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha which are strongholds of Naxalites. Due to lack of accurate information about the routes passing through most of these areas, the Naxalites escape by dodging the security forces during the operation. There are about 125 such villages on the border of these states, in which Naxalites go and hide many times. In this situation, mapping of the routes leading to these villages is also being done. Whenever the security forces are deployed for the operation, they will already have information about all the routes through GPS, which will make it difficult for the Naxalites to escape from there.

Here Tiwari will present his side regarding the action taken by ACB in Railways. It is noteworthy that Tiwari had appeared before the Commission on 17 March. The Commission had then ordered an inquiry into the case of Mukesh Jatav, who was caught taking bribe by the ACB, and asked to submit the report in 30 days. It is believed that Tiwari will present his answer in this context. In the last hearing, Manish Tiwari along with Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Suprakash, Personnel Officer Vijay Singh and ACB officials were involved.

Tiwari left for Jabalpur by Dayodaya train on Wednesday. After participating in a meeting here on Thursday, Tiwari will reach Bhopal late night by train. Tiwari will leave for Delhi on Friday morning from Bhopal. Tiwari will attend a meeting of the Delhi division on Saturday. Tiwari will reach Kota on Sunday night by Amritsar-Bandra deluxe train.

    This is the case-

It is noteworthy that after his arrest, Jatav had complained about the matter to the SC Commission, questioning the action of the ACB. Citing a Supreme Court judgement, Jatav had said that the ACB had no power to act against central employees. Even if ACB takes any such action, the matter should be handed over to CBI or Railway Vigilance. Jatav had also told the commission that the ACB has not recovered any amount from him. ACB has recovered this amount from the table kept outside under the tin shed. Jatav had said that the ACB and the contractor had deliberately framed him. In his appeal, Jatav had also questioned the sanction granted to the ACB for prosecution by the railway authorities. After this, the commission had issued notices to all the parties asking them to present their stand in the matter. After listening to all the parties, the Commission has issued these instructions.

    ACB had arrested-

It is notable that ACB had arrested Jatav on September 15 last year on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor. Jatav was released on bail in October.

Congress lodges police complaint against Shah over ‘riot’ statement

Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Dr Parmeshwar and D K Shivakumar on Thursday filed a police complaint against Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah and the organisers of a BJP rally for allegedly making “provocative statements, promoting enmity and hatred and maligning the opposition”.

The complaint has been registered at Bengaluru’s High Grounds police station.

Yesterday, the Congress termed Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks that Karnataka would be afflicted by riots if the grand old party came to power as a “brazenly intimidatory statement”, and accused him of “issuing threats” during the election campaign.

Addressing a public meeting on Tuesday in Karnataka’s Belagavi district, Shah said the development of the state will be on the “reverse gear” if the Congress forms the government.

“If the Congress comes to power, dynastic politics will be at an all-time high and Karnataka will be afflicted with riots,” the Home Minister had said.

The family of the victim said this on the release of Anand Mohan

Reacting to the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government releasing 27 prisoners, including gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh who was serving life sentence in the 1994 murder of Gopalganj district magistrate G Krishnaiah, by amending the state’s prison manual on Thursday, the daughter of the IAS officer said it was “disheartening” to see him being released from jail.

Anand Mohan Singh was released from Bihar’s Saharsa Jail on Thursday at 4 am. (HT)
Anand Mohan Singh was released from Bihar’s Saharsa Jail on Thursday at 4 am. (HT)
Speaking to news agency ANI, Padma said, “It’s disheartening for us that Anand Mohan Singh has been released from jail today. The government should reconsider this decision. I request Nitish Kumar ji to give a second thought to this decision. With this decision, his govt has set a wrong example. It is unfair not just to a family but to the whole nation. We will appeal against this decision.”

Singh was pronounced a death sentence in 2007 for the murder of G Krishnaiah – a 1985-batch IAS officer. But a year later, the sentence was changed to life imprisonment by Patna high court.

Singh was released from Bihar’s Saharsa Jail on Thursday at 4 am.

On Monday evening, the Bihar law department issued a notification, stating that on the recommendation of the Bihar state sentence remission council, the “decision was taken for the release of prisoners having served actual sentence of 14 years or sentence of 20 years with remission.”

The Indian Civil and Administrative Service (Central) Association on Tuesday expressed dismay at the Bihar government for its decision to release Singh and other convicts- who were serving a life sentence for the murder of the IAS Officer G Krishnaiah. Urging the government to “reconsider” the decision, the top IAS body said that the release of a convicted killer is “tantamount to the denial of justice”.

“A convict of a charge of murder of a public servant on duty, cannot be re-classified to a less heinous category. Amendment of an existing classification that leads to the release of the convicted killer of a public servant on duty is tantamount to the denial of justice. Such dilution leads to impunity, and erosion in the morale of public servants, undermines public order, and makes a mockery of the administration of justice,” the IAS officers’ body said in the letter.

According to a clause from the Bihar Prison Manual, anyone who was found guilty of killing a government official would not be given the benefit of remission ever. However, on April 10, the Bihar government had removed this clause.

Child rights body directs Bournvita amid ‘high sugar’ controversy

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has written to the manufacturer of health drink Bournvita, Mondelez India International, asking to conduct a review and withdraw ‘misleading’ advertisements and packaging labels. The notice came amid huge row over allegations of having high sugar content in the milk supplement.

“It has been brought to the notice of the Commission that your product contains high percentage of sugar and contents/substances/mixtures/formula which may case harmful impact to the health of children,” the notice said addressing to Deepak Iyer, president of Mondelez International, India.

The child rights body also urged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Central Consumer Protection Authority to take action against companies that fail to meet the guidelines on food safety or advertising.

The row erupted after a health influencer, in a video, criticised Bournvita alleging that the powder supplement contains high sugar, cocoa solids and cancer-causing colourant. He later took down the video after the firm issued a legal notice against him saying his claims are misleading.

A Bournvita spokesperson earlier said that the formulation of its milk supplement has been ‘scientifically crafted by a team of nutritionists and food scientists to offer the best of taste and health. All our claims are verified and transparent and all ingredients have regulatory approvals. All the necessary nutritional information is mentioned on the pack for consumers to make informed choices’.

However, NCPCR noted that Bournvita ‘fails to display mandatory disclosures in line with the guidelines and regulations of FSSAI and under the Consumer Protection Act’, and asked the company to respond within a week.

  • Delhi Waqf Board is not the owner of properties, can only be a custodian, says HC to Center

Delhi Waqf Board is not the owner of properties, can only be a custodian, says HC to Center

The Delhi Waqf Board is not and cannot be the owner of any of the 123 properties and at best could only be a custodian, that too only if it’s a Waqf property, the Union government has told the Delhi high court while opposing the Board’s plea against the inspection of the properties absolved of its control.

The Centre filed an affidavit in the Delhi high court in response to the Waqf Board’s application. (File Photo)
The Centre filed an affidavit in the Delhi high court in response to the Waqf Board’s application. (File Photo)
It has said that “merely because certain properties were given on lease to various persons, does not ipso-facto mean that the said properties are converted into Waqf properties”.

The Land and Development Office (L&DO) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) in February decided to take over 123 properties of the Delhi Waqf Board, including mosques, dargah and graveyards, based on the report of a two-member committee.

The deputy L&DO, in a letter to Board chairman Amanatullah Khan, had on February 8 informed him about the decision to absolve the Delhi Waqf Board from all matters related to the 123 properties based on the two-member committee’s report.

In an affidavit filed in response to the Board’s application to restrain the inspection and demolition of the 123 properties, the Centre has said that neither the Board nor anyone else can have the objection to any inspection, which would even otherwise be permissible under the Waqf Act and which in any case would clarify the factual position obtaining on the ground in respect of such properties.

The application was filed in a pending petition by the board against the letter of February 8 absolving them of all the 123 properties.

Justifying its action, the Centre said that the letter of February 8,2023 to the Board clearly indicated that inspection would be carried out of the 123 properties to give the factual position to the authorities for them to take a decision.

“Without prejudice to all other submissions, it is respectfully submitted that by the letter dated February 8, 2023, all that has been stated is that physical inspections are to be carried out of all the 123 properties, “ the Centre stated.

In a fresh application following the demolition of the boundary wall, the Board told the court that after the last date of hearing, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has started to send its employees to visit the Waqf properties, part and parcel of the 123 Waqf properties, along with police, who are affixing and distributing the notices/letters at the Waqf properties/ Mosques included in the aforesaid 123 Waqf properties during the prayer times.

Earlier the court had asked the Centre to file their response after the Waqf Board pointed that no reply has been given till date by the Centre despite several hearings in the matter.

In its response, the Centre has said that the properties in question were the subject matter of land acquisition proceedings between 1911 and 1914, pursuant to which these 123 properties were acquired, compensation was paid, possession was taken and mutation was carried out in their favour.

It said that Delhi Waqf Board is a creation of a statute i.e. The Waqf Act, 1954 and given this position, the Board, does not either have the locus or the competence to raise any question whatsoever on the acquisition of properties that took place way back in 1911 to 1914.

“Admittedly, these acquisitions attained finality and there has been no challenge whatsoever to the same…in addition to the admitted factual position as regards the possession qua the same, admittedly, the property so acquired were thereafter used for the purposes of creating infrastructure and buildings etc. that are now identified as the Urban scape of Delhi, “ the Centre said.

The government further said that the Board was given ample opportunities to present all the documents and the facts before a two-member committee which was formed in 2021 to look into the matter.

“ It is, ex-facie apparent, therefore, that the Board has no interest whatsoever in the said properties, inasmuch as it has not even cared to appear before the Committee and place on record its objections. In the circumstances, the letter dated February 8, 2023 merely states the obvious i.e. that ex-facie the petitioner-board has no say whatsoever in the so called Waqf properties that are the subject matter of consideration by the two-member committee, “ the Centre asserted.

Challenging the Union government’s decision of February 8, 2023, the Waqf Board has contended that all these properties are either dargahs, mosques or graveyards, which have always remained in its possession and cannot be taken away now on the basis of a report of a two-member committee.
