  • Surat: After 10 AAP councilors joined BJP, BJP’s presence has now been registered in every ward of Surat!

Surat: After 10 AAP councilors joined BJP, BJP’s presence has now been registered in every ward of Surat!

In the secret campaign run by BJP, 6 councilors of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined BJP and with 4 councilors who left AAP earlier, a total of 10 members have joined BJP. With these 10 members formally joining BJP, now BJP’s strength in Surat Municipal Council has gone up to 103 and now AAP is left with only 17 members. However, with this, BJP has created another history after two and a half decades. BJP councilors have been present in every ward of the Municipal Corporation when 10 AAP corporators joined BJP.

BJP’s presence in all wards after 23 years

For the first time after the year 2000, BJP members are present in all the wards of the city. In the 1995 elections, when BJP won 98 out of 99 seats, BJP members were elected from all the wards. However, since then it has never happened that any BJP councilor from all the wards of the city is on the board of the Municipal Corporation. BJP has once again repeated history after 23 years. Including 10 corporators of Aam Aadmi Party, BJP corporators were present in all the wards of Municipal Corporation today.

Despite having majority, BJP was not present in many wards

In the years 2000, 2005 and 2010, as the Congress’s strength gradually decreased. At one time only 11 corporators of the Congress were elected, but the entire panel in the ward belonged to the Congress. Where there was a Congress panel, there was no BJP councillor. In this way, in 2015, all the wards of Varachha area and Dumbhal and Bamroli, those etc. all had Congress members. In the 2021 elections also, the entire panel of Aam Aadmi Party was elected in Ward No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 16 and 17. In spite of having a majority with 93 out of 120 councillors, the BJP did not have a single councilor in six wards.

Your councilors have created history for BJP

Now that your 10 corporators elected from all these wards have joined BJP, all these members will be considered as BJP corporators with the support of BJP as your members have now officially joined BJP. Due to which BJP has presence in all wards of the city, 10 members of Aam Aadmi Party have repeated the history of BJP once again after 23 years with presence in all wards of Surat.
